I happened to notice this morning and dove into a bit the word island. In 1611 it is mostly featured as Iland. Noting capital I and in 1769 it is always the actual word island or islands not capitalized. Another variation in 1611 is yland where in 1769 the same is still island. As far as I can determine there is only one instance of actual Island in 1611. Only one! And that is in Revelation 6:14 capitalized And the heauen departed as a scrowle when it rolled together, and euery mountaine and Island were moued out of their places.

I always double check digital versions against printed versions of what I know are accurate. Often I find digital versions unreliable.

Because of it’s contextual and canonical value, I’m attempting to quantify, compare, and contrast the words “seed” and “seede” throughout The Old and New Testaments of The 1611AKJB, in both digital (e-Sword KJV-1611, kjbonline.org) and physical (Campbell Quatercentenary) formats. I’m still working on it, but I’m finding some inconsistencies between the digital versions regarding the amount of times each word is used. If anyone has already looked into this particular topic, any input would be appreciated. It seems so far that “seed” points to both Christ, The Word, and those who are in Christ. Those are just my observations so far.

Hi Roy. You make a good point. Though, it's hard to be dogmatic because many things in Greek & Hebrew, as in English, are understood idiomatically and when translating into different languages to capture those nuances, it might be necessary to vary the spelling. This would only be possible for people entrenched in a language and able to understand all the devices, colloguialisms and idioms, as were the translators of the 1611. We have little choice but to trust that the translators knew what they were doing.

Absolutely. Confidence in the 1611 translators is well-placed. In addition though, we know that the English language was not necessarily a single codified language yet in 1611. Old English was transforming into modern English. Different spellings of the same word were likely common. For example, you discussed "saincts" and "saints" as distinct spellings, but they mean the same thing, i.e. one who is sanctified. I am not sure if readers of that time would have put great significance on the different spellings or agree what they might mean in "English". Maybe they would have, but that understanding has been lost to modern English speakers. Some of the different spellings seem to have different meanings, but not all. At the end of the day, each reader individually must trust the guiding of the Holy Spirit on the meanings of the words.

Hello Folks. . . . on the methodology employed for these analyses of the different spellings in the 1611 AKJV. . are we referring to the original Greek and Hebrew to see if those words are the same or different? If the original Greek and Hebrew use different words (concepts) then the different spelling likely has significance. If not, it might not.
