Warning: Maxis Laundry List Patch Incoming on 7/21! [Content Update and Patch Status]

TLDR: A Sims 4 patch arrives tomorrow, 7/21. Play offline if you want to avoid updating while I check WP’s compatibility. I’m also still aiming to release the upcoming WP content update this month. ❤️

If you haven’t heard yet, there is a Sims 4 game patch coming tomorrow, 7/21!!!! No need to waste time panicking yet, but you may want to consider taking some time to prepare!

This Game Update introduces core changes to how maxis manages their save data and how they cache information while you are playing, with a focus on boosting the game’s performance to reduce load times, increase responsiveness, and bring more memory related stability. It also contains a smaller collection of bug fixes, including fixes for disappearing roof sections and problems affecting saves with many Residential Rentals. You can read EA’s full preview here.

Like always, I will need to examine the actual patch before I can confirm whether or not Wicked Perversions is compatible! It’s possible that WP may need a slight patch, in particular for some changes coming to dialog prompts but I’m hoping for nothing major. This appears to be just a normal hotpatch, and not the mod wrecking pre-patch which accompanies something like an Expansion release.

While it is difficult to predict how long your favorite mods will be out of commission. It may only take a few hours to confirm compatibility, or code changes may require a proper more in depth mod patch. I’ll update this post as I analyze the patch, and I’ll also provide progress updates in Discord and Patreon chat so you have a general idea of how things are going.

If you plan to play your modded sims 4 while we are working on the patch, then I highly recommend you disable updates or play without mods. You can do this by opening the EA app, looking for the 3 horizontal bars in the upper left corner -> Settings -> hit the download tab just below settings (It’s not immediately obvious it’s a tab) then click off update games automatically, I’d probably disable ‘Enable Background Downloads’ just to be safe too. Then hit the 3 horizontal bars again and hit ‘go offline.’ This should prevent the sims 4 from auto-updating while your Mod Authors work on patches for you. If you want to be extra tinfoil, so shiny and chrome, you can disconnect your computer from the internet too. And honestly, with how little control consumers have over their stuff, I’d recommend doing so. You can find EA’s guide on how to go offline here.

Memory Performance Laundry List Patch Status [Hotpatch not needed!]

• If you play with mods, I'd highly recommend going into your main saves (has to be done per save) game settings, and disabling the new autosave on loading screen option. This is the most likely time for bugs to generate LEs, and it's generally not a good idea to save when an LE is generated. Even though it's saved to a dedicated autosave slot.

Wicked Perversions Content Update Status

The next Wicked Perversions content update is running later than I had hoped. What began as a simple request, the sexy maid situations, grew into a much-needed overhaul of my prostitution system to prepare for future content and the tighter integration with Basemental Drugs some of that future content will need. Don't worry, I plan on keeping Basemental Drugs (and Gangs, and Gambling) completely optional for those who want a more 'pure' experience.

I’m still aiming to release the content update this month. While it will be lighter on flashy new content, it lays the groundwork for the kinds of updates I think you guys will really enjoy, including more client-focused interactions and unique prostitution jobs that go beyond “just fucking,” with branching states and job-specific payment structures.
