I can give some context to the setting as someone who recognized just about everything! It definitely takes place in western Pennsylvania, as Pittsburgh is in Allegheny county, and the Allegheny National Forest is is in western pa too. At the end when the main character is found by the Monongahela gateway clipper, that’s definitely alluding to the gateway clipper fleet that cruises around Pittsburgh’s branch of the Mon’ river. that goes right around where the Steelers play :D
