The Nautiloid Spelljammer Ship is Complete!!!!
It took three days to make this monstrosity but I'm proud to present a now 3D printable Nautiloid Spelljammer Ship! Modeling this alone took days and it took me all day to make this printable so I think I will now have a drink lol.
This is the largest of the ships I've made so far so this is a FDM recommended print. I also recommend not using brims when possible as its just that big. This lines up well with the maps of the book size wise, but its overlays didn't really line up with the artwork so I made a hybrid because of the "rule of cool" lol. The catapult is a cute little open source model I found years ago that you print in FDM and its bendiness launches whatever you load onto it. Also the model is so big I think two stands are actually needed to keep it up so I put a second hole in the back in case its needed. The tentacles should hold up well on their own, however I recommend printing them with zero infill so they're as light as possible. Also there is nothing wrong with tying tentacles to the bow of the ship with some sewing thread for extra support. Yay to crafting!
Given I don't really know a thing about interior design or making dioramas this model is just the ship and decks and not any of the insides. However I supply all the files in case anyone wants to take a crack at it and make their own remixes. I uploaded most of the files on this post directly, however some were too big for a Patreon post so the link to the Google Drive for this specific ship is here.

Ok time to go lay down and have a drink already lol. Whew! Tomorrow I'll work on requests but at a calm pace and maybe just have a half day. Thank you everyone for your patience while I work on this. You're all amazing :)

@mz4250 This doesnt have an inside to the ship right?
No sorry. I only recently learned how to do that
Thanks for the quick reply! I am very very new (Just got my printer a week ago) so forgive the newbie question. Would an 8k printer like the one I have even possibly work print something like this or if a resin printer tried it, it would have to be something more industrial?
You'd need something massive and industrial. This is a terrible idea though. Resin is expensive. You'd save more money just buying a normal FDM printer and printing it with PLA or ABS. Please do not print something this big in resin.
This looks amazing! As someone who has a Phrozen Mighty 8k Resin printer, is there any plans for ships that will work on resin printers or is resin just not really meant for larger models?
Nope. Resin isn't made for large models and not everyone can afford resin printers large enough for this.
Has anyone successfully printed this full sized? I'm very tempted to do it in a wood/granite mix, but haven't made something this big so if anyone has, any tips?
I saw one person do it on the discord. It looked pretty awesome
Have you any plans to make a small one for ship-to-ship combat?
I did. It's in the same folder.
Dang this is huge. I'm not sure I can even print it on my (lightly modified) Ender 3. ETA: I'm gonna try! I can't wait to see the look on my players' faces when the final battle of this 13-year-long campaign kicks off with them boarding this ship from their space whale conveyance. Update: Some of the sections can't be sliced by Cura, my preferred slicer as it has a bunch of options that make faster prints easier. I think maybe it's related to some open edges and what prusaslicer thinks is an empty layer in a few spots. Trying a repair in plusaslicer, but maybe a light revision would save users some pain. Yet another update: Several of the pegs used to align parts are not actually joined to the model. I printed the top front shell over the weekend only to find that the square peg sticking out the side is just floating, not attached. Even various Cura settings won't join that, and the same is true for the middle front shell. I am trying to resolve this by sticking another cube in there to bridge the ~5mm gap.
I'm gonna need to clear up some space.
dopest dope dude, mega cool
This is wildly cool! What are its dimensions?
About 4.5 feet long 3 feet high. You can download the files and see if your own slicer of anything
..wow...
This is amazing.
YOU'RE AMAZING
That's incredible work!
YOU'RE INCREDIBLE!
