Q&A: Raw & Honest Review of Farm Life (6 Months In…)
This week, we're sitting down for a proper catch-up and answering all of the awesome questions you guys sent us recently!
It's been around six months since we traded life at sea for life on the farm in Vanuatu, and we thought it was the perfect time to share how it's really been going.
We're talking about the highs, the challenges, what surprised us most, what we miss about sailing, what we absolutely don't, and whether this new chapter has lived up to what we imagined. Nothing was off-limits, so this one is a little more raw, honest, and reflective than usual.
We really hope you enjoy this early AD-FREE release. As always, thank you for making these adventures possible. Your support gives us the freedom to share not only the big milestones, but also these quieter moments where we get to reflect on the journey with you.
After watching, we'd love to know: What's been your favourite part of this farm-life chapter so far? And is there anything you'd like us to dive deeper into in a future Q&A?

I really enjoyed this Q&A, clear, funny, relaxed... And as a Belgian, somewhat excited/proud you are working with Belgian architects? Really curious how it will turn out, their current design on the website for your farm looks sick!
I came over from YouTube to join your Patreon and support the two creators I truly enjoy watching, Sailing La Vagabonde and Reckless Ben. I’m excited to keep following your family’s adventures and feel blessed to be a small part of the journey.
Lovely to catch up with all your news; glad everything is going well or mostly going well.
Pretty cool you guys! I have been watching you for a long time now and wow, how time flies. I’ll continue to keep an eye on your progress…but throw us some cool sailing shit every once in a while.
It's very exciting! So happy for you all !
Thank you so much, I ha ve been a fan for years, and will be till I die...I'm 78.
Hey guys, i sent you some information about an Awesome Ridgeback breeder to Elayna’s IG DM. Just FYI if you’re still searching
The syndrome you were referring to concerning your tan is called alien limb syndrome
Awesome episode, and I love the Q&A’s. We are very honoured to have got to know you guys over many years now as Patreons. Best quote of the episode (according to me as it just 100% resonated): E: “Every single morning I think I’m the luckiest person ever, … really” R: “Well you are” E: “Yeah, I know, … how?” R: “Because I’m so great!” Love it! Keep being the legends you are. Yes, we are, of course, expecting a formal invite to the big day ;-)
Was a little disappointed and sad re your comments on Australia. Not perfect, I guess and I am not sure of the context behind you views. I would encourage you to look at the following link detailing the current government level aid support between Australia and Vanuatu. https://www.dfat.gov.au/geo/vanuatu/development-assistance/development-partnership-with-vanuatu
So lovely to catch up on your recent Q&A. Very interesting and entertaining. So many different story lines to explore now!!

Thanks for the great video, good to hear you all are settling in well and you've found a good Architecture firm and a Builder. My wife and I built our house on 25 Acres in VT USA about 5 years ago now - it's still a work in progress in which we are fortunate to have been able to do so, but also feel it appropriate here to highlight a process point that is both logistically and fiscally inherent to such a project. I am a carpenter and licensed architect. One thing that perhaps gets a bit overlooked when building a home (or quite any structure) is how critical the connection between the builder and the architect is. It is very important that your builder and architect(s) are on the same page in terms of the actual construction process. There are many factors in home design and build that can either enhance or detract from the finished product's ultimate form. All the while ensuring that your ideals for the home are met. Materials, (which you've touched on regarding the roofing) are a massive part of the entire process as I am sure you're already acutely aware of given the boat build. That being said, the layout, flow and function of the property should take into account the materials being used. Basic points, like standardized dimensions of materials when incorporated into the design can result in significant savings both in time and cost. This kind of thing gets overlooked from time to time when I work with clients, because to the builder they are keen to do the job right regardless of the amount of cuts / time required (as they should). And sometimes the architects are not quite as cognizant of the compounding ramifications in cost and time in pursuit of the ideal structure. It's more than likely that subtle adjustments to the plan can result in a near identical end product by designing for the build itself. This all being said, its no fault of the Architect, Builder or Client. More so it is a funny byproduct of the containerized nature of home / building construction. It's not too often you find an architecture firm with on the ground work in construction. So by paying a bit of extra attention to that you'll likely end up staying on schedule a bit more and saving a bit of cash as well. Anyhow, super cool you all are doing the land build as well as keeping roots in the water. Figured we'd drop this line here about our experience over the years doing design and build for others and ourselves. As it's one of those little things that is easy to miss when in the design phase. Take care and thank you all again for sharing this cool next phase! J & M
Been loving all of this! Yall are so great at bringing us along, just excitedd to see what yall are up to in each video. MUST KNOW THOUGH: Did you find out any more details on who did the black magic? Hows everything feeling now? Also, very excited for puppy footage. What breeds yall looking at?
Catch chickens when they are sleeping. Use pigs to plow, while they also fatten themselves. Dogs, mans best friend, love to have jobs.
Don't worry about the wedding invitation... I never received a sticker either. I love your show, but am embarrassed by my fellows here bullying you to A: get married and B; have more children. (remember, we are losers who watch, you are winners who do. I like your story, not my version or some religious zealots version.) PS bin that chain saw bar Riltey. Lethal. Far too dangerous. A 45/50 cm bar and chain is ideal. Kickback from that bar will be devastating. ... Former CFA (with chainsaw ticket) member who spotted for one of 2 of our Districts "fellers" where we had to knock over "X" or "K" (killer) marked trees during and after bushfires. Those guys only ever used 45/50cm bars etc; always carried at least 2 saws (as you WILL get one stuck when the cut closes and another saw is req to cut the first out); always sharpen chain after each tank of fuel, Sthil hand sharpeners are excellent with a bar clamp; always wear hard hat and goggles, steel caps, gloves... chaps are cute,
Looks like you are settling in pretty well. Has the viewership gone up or down since you have become land lubbers? 😎
Are you going to relocate your Trimaran to Vanuatu?
❤ GR8 Q&A ~ LOVED IT ❤
What a delightful update! Courageous, indeed. I also appreciate that you keep certain things to yourselves, and clearly have prioritized your kids' health and well-being above everything else. That's gotta be really hard to manage. I guess if I have one question, it's if there is a team that helps you manage your channel...editor(s), graphics, social media, travel logistics, etc?
Love these “catch up” videos from you guys! Thanks for always sharing your plans with us all… and never fear, we’ll all still be watching no matter what the content, you guys are like family at this point.. I’m fully invested in your future and love living vicariously through your adventures ⛵️🚜💛
agreeeeeeed <3
Wow, the house plan looks awesome!! Are you guys going to do a live anytime soon?
Can't wait! You guys are legends... this will be an amazing thing for you all. We need a live Q&A soon :)
