She Can Handle Black Magic… But Not Pheem Flirting | Khom Khlang EP 4 | Uncut Reaction

Pheem needs enchanted bullets to take down a bulletproof crime lord—but apparently, sacred metals aren't something you can just ask a shaman for.

Before the spiritual masters of Phop Phra will give her what she needs, our skeptical Bangkok cop has to prove that her intentions are genuine. That means completing a series of tests designed to measure her sincerity, determination, and whether she’s truly worthy of carrying something this powerful.

And considering Pheem walked into this world barely believing any of it existed, watching her willingly participate in a spiritual scavenger hunt is already some serious character development.

But forget the sacred metals for a second, because THE WATERFALL. 👀

Away from the investigation and supernatural danger, Pheem and Bulan finally get a quiet moment to themselves—and Pheem is surprisingly direct about what she’s feeling. Suddenly our mysterious, composed spiritual master is blushing and completely flustered, and I am LIVING for it.

Bulan may already understand that their connection runs much deeper than this lifetime, but Pheem doesn't need to understand karmic destiny to know she's falling for her.

She came to Phop Phra looking for a way to defeat black magic. Instead, she's getting sacred metals, shamanic tests…and apparently a soulmate. 😂❤️

Hey so from what I have read, Thong is a Kuman thong. It’s basically a traditional Thai ghost or a child spirit and he’s under the spiritual care of Master Bulan. He’s a protective spirit and basically a gift from her father. He refers to Bulan as his mom since she takes care of him and also now he refers to Pheem as “Phor” which translates to “father” since Pheem is Bulan’s karmic soulmate. In fact, Bulan also refers to Pheem and Phor = father and Pheem calls her Mae = Mother. I have read a few reasons as to why they refer to each other that way. First is obviously Thong. Because they both take care of a child together, they use these terms because that’s how Thong sees their dynamic. Also, I have read that these are also common terms of endearment between couples who share a household and parental responsibility. Hope this made sense! Loved your reaction as always!

Episode 4 starts not with a longer version of the end of episode 3, but with Bulan handing Peem a list of materials Bulan needs for making the bullets Peem desires. We get a flashback of her father and his colleagues making the bullets, and we also see that Bulan was a witness back then. And we see the master instructing Bulan to wait for her karmic soulmate, with the master adding this time, that when that time comes, only Bulan’s compassion could aid her. After the credits, Peem calls her mother and claims everything is fine; she promises not to put herself in danger, as Phu is still unconscious – while someone yells “Liar!,” but she puts this down on just hearing things as she ends the call with her mother. She holds the gift that Phu has bought for Pat in her hands. She then talks to inspection Chon (played by Job whom we last saw as Nop in “My Only Sunshine”) in Mae Sot. He shows her evidence of Krating in the area and claims he and his guys are moving along the Thailand-Myanmar border, but they can’t pinpoint the location of his hideout. He has contacted the other police stations in the region and put them on the lookout. He is likely still in the province, though, and Chon claims the he is currently in the process of requesting that his superiors put him in charge of this case. He promises to keep her posted of the progress in the case, with Peem arguing that she wants to catch him with her own hands. Peem looks on her wristwatch and finds out it’s 3:30 p.m. – which is important because Bulan, as she told her, claims getting the material will not be easy, and perils will come her way. As she gets the materials, Bulan argues that restless spirits and ghosts will storm in as if a great merit-making ceremony was underway, and whatever she sees and hears, her foes will witness it as well. She wants her to be very careful as these lethal weapons thirst for blood, and in the hands of an evil soul, they can sacrifice innocent blood. And above all else, she much seek the materials before sunset, and cease her search thereafter. Bulan argues that they may wait for another moon, but Peem thinks that will be too late, but Bulan argues that the nighttime belong to ghosts and isn’t suitable for any endeavor unless it be an inauspicious one. She instructs her to fulfill her task with every ounce of mindfulness and wit, as wrath and vengeance will only blind her. And she should wear her necklace at all times until all the materials are obtained. Peem shares with her colleague the list of materials, and he claims the Rim Moei market at Mae Sot – a mere ten minutes away – would be a good place to start. So, they drive over to the market and hand the list to a shaman, who claims he has some materials but cannot give them to them as these items choose their owners. He claims that her colleague doesn’t have enough virtue for them – but on a closer look he deems Peem to be worthy of blue Bornite, and gives it to her, claiming that day, deadly misfortune awaits her. And not for long, as a guy tries to slash her with a machete and hits her colleague in the process. He is brought to the hospital where his wife and daughter wait with Peem for him to get treated. He exits the treatment room with his arms bandaged. Later, Peem goes alone to an old man sitting at the side of a boxing gym, who tells her to make haste, and asks her to promise that whatever he gives her will only be used against evil wights (which she does), before he cuts a piece of puts copper out of his arm and gives it to her. He warns her that should she break her promise it would ricochet back on her thousandfold. Sha thanks him and leaves the gym, and we see that the guy she met already died in 2020. Next, she seeks out fabled iron, but the two guys she meets at a local shop are more interested in hitting on her than in fulfilling her wish. But their father intervenes and takes Peem inside, claiming she has no ill intentions like his sons. She wants her to sit down and hold out her hand, and she hesitates, but complies. And he expels some fabled iron from his body – but afterwards, he is having a heart attack. As Peem carries him outside, the son have problem with their truck which malfunctions, and eventually drives straight at Peem and the father by itself, only to be stopped by the fabled iron in Peem’s hand. He car afterwards also doesn’t work, and she proceeds on foot through the woods. Where she eventually encounters a monk sitting on a clearing, who hands her an ancient zinc nail, and introduces her to the huntsman Loh-Se, who has some mercury for her, and cannot provide the silver she needs, but offers to take her into the woods to find some. But she has only until sunset today, which is getting really close. But he claims that she has already done more than enough, arguing that even master of the sacred arts can take anywhere from a month to a year to assemble these materials. So, she returns to Bulan’s shrine without the silver, but Bulan first wants her to rest and cool down her feet. Bulan wants to know if she’s okay, and Peem claims she is just mad at herself for being unable to get all the materials. But Bulan mentions the there are many people in her vicinity who possess auspicious objects, and argues that perhaps she just hasn’t asked all of them. She then hands her one piece of untainted silver – the last ingredient she misses. Bulan argues that next time she injures herself, she shall make it worse. Peem wants to use her amulet as the source for gold, but Bulan argues that she own plenty of gold and will give it to her. Peem calls her adorable and sniff-kisses her. The next day, they visit master In’s – Bulan’s father’s – old sanctum, and shows her a picture of him. Peem calls him dignified and formidable, just like his daughter. Peem wonders who keeps this place clean and Bulan reveals that it is visited by his disciples and herself who keep the place clean. Her mother, she claims has been ordained as a Buddhist nun and stays at the temple without much outside contact. Peem thinks that judging by her daughter, is goes without saying that her mother must be very beautiful. She notices a photo of Im’s disciples and learns that she sought materials from them. Then, she detects the bullet forge. Bulan recounts that in his days, the land abounded with bandits and wicked thieves, and spells or incantations alone would not suffice, arguing they too had to be masters of weapons. Peem argues that in such a world, police officer like her would never be able to bring those criminals to justice. Bulan argues that when it comes to science, there are molecules invisible to the eyes, oceans that are too sublime to be ever discovered, and she must truly believe that things that transcend far beyond mundane limits are true. She claims that faith, too, has no shape or form, and how could she know if something was wicked, should there not be morals to begin with? She claims that the entirety of this earth was created with the belief that all thing shall be possible. She must merely have faith and believe, otherwise, there’s no point making her way there. She argues that all that is left if to wait for the full moon to perform the ritual. In the meantime, she claims, that there is a place she wants her to accompany her to… …and they go to a small waterfall where Peem cool herself down a bit, then sits beside Bulan who claims that in her tender years, she took great joy in sitting there at leisure. Peem asks her why she became a master, and she claims the her father before her was a deeply respected master who inherited the sacred arts from her grandfather, and back then, she was a naïve soul. She held him in great respect as everyone revered and worshipped him, though with the passage of time, people developed a dislike for him and called him deceptive and dogmatic, and some where frightened by him. As she matured and became more aware, she did not enjoy the state of things. Then, when she was fourteen, she was at death’s door, no treatment could fully cure her, and the doctor said she wasn’t long for this world. Thus, her father took her to make a vow, praying for the sacred hermit sage’s aid, and afterwards she grew better and better as if by miracle. There were still time she was skeptical and stubborn, like any child, but after just a sip of liquor, she became ill once again. And at that point, she dared not to be stubborn, for it all ran in her blood and through her body. Were she to escape, the only thing that would await her would be death. Thus, she decided to accept the sacred master’s rite. She mentions that she wishes for death to finally come for her, but her father told her to live, make merit, and keep the precepts, as her karmic soulmate had already been incarnated. He told her to stay, to never leave, so that when they arrived, their paths would cross. Peem gets close to her and tells her, if the person she waits for isn’t her, she can be honest. If someone else can be her happiness, she would be happy for her. Bulan argues that after all the time they have spent, does she not know of her nature? She claims to yearn to feel her till her heart breaks, but argues it is not the time, for that day, they have a much greater aim. Once it Is fulfilled she argues that she shall pay her ever so dearly for every once of strength she expends. Peem claims that she just needs assurance that she genuinely has feelings for her and not because of what her father told her to believe. Bulan then vows that until her last beath, she longs for no one to be by her side but Peem, and tells her not to dwell on her father’s words too much. But Peem argues that Bulan can’t do that, and argues that if something happens to her someday she needs to give herself a chance. She doesn’t ever want to see her alone and forlorn again. Bulan claims that if some day, beath should bereave Peem of her, death shall never be the end of her love for Peem. Peem promises to take good care of herself and be very mindful, so that she can live a long life. And all the strength she shall expend making the bullets, she will make it up to her with every ounce of strength that she has. Bulan smiles shyly as she wipes some tears off her eyes. At night, she proceeds to make the bullets, and gives them – ten of it, to be exact – to Peem, telling her to use them only when she must. And the episode ends there, safe for the usual coda, which shows us Krating who hides in a shop smoking, then receives a phone call from someone name Singh, who obviously tells him that Bulan made the bullets, and claims to be proud of their attempt, but argues that unfortunately, they are all going to die. He extinguishes his cigarette on a picture showing Peem – and suddenly the cigarette appears in Peem folder that she is just looking at. She runs upstairs and finds Krating smoking outside and waving at her. But as Peem and her colleagues follow the lead, they are suddenly standing in a place where some officers turn into beasts and attack them. And Bulan notices something in the air, and a ghost tells her that mom is in danger – and she rushes to her. ______ Well, not much happened in this episode – which mainly consisted of a scavenger hunt getting the materials for the bullets, and of making them. In between, Peem and Bulan had some time to discuss Bulan’s past and the nature of their relationship, and while Peem is still not convinced that Bulan’s feelings are real, she is willing to commit. We also had some foreshadowing that put doubt on their fates, as they talked about death. But I think that next week, the action will return, as Peem will probably get to try her new bullets, and fail with her endeavor if Krating is right. We shall see next week. 😉
