Jump v1.2 with 20+ new features & bug fixes

First of all I want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has joined this page! Over 100 people have joined which is incredible! I hope you are enjoying Jump! I've been reading every single one of your messages about bugs, issues, impressions, and improvement ideas. I have spent all day and night working on this tirelessly to bring as many fixes as I can.

The biggest issue for most people was roms not showing due to unrecognized folder names. I tried to add some aliases for common ones like PS1, PSX, and PlayStation all being acceptable for PlayStation 1 games but it wasn't robust enough so I've looked through all the folder names apps like ES-DE, Cocoon, Miyoo and NextUI use and the acceptable rom folder list has now gone from 60 to 241! You can find a list of all the acceptable folders and some more information about them in the attached 'Jump — accepted ROM folder names' image file.

I'll also be putting out a video on the channel to go through the changes visually. Thank you for supporting me. Thank you to everyone who will stay subscribed to help support me through this and for those of you who will be unsubscribing after this month, I'll find a way to get the updates to you!

Here is the changelog:

V1.2

Bug fixes:

- Vita3k now loads properly

- Dolphin MMJR and MMJR2 now load directly into the game instead of opening the app

- Changing a game’s emulator now correctly only changes it for that one game, not for all (you can change a whole system’s emulator in the main Settings menu)

- I added many more variations of rom folder names (PS1, PSX, PlayStation for example). Before 60 folder names were recognised; now over 200. All common rom folder names should be picked up.

- Long system names on small screens use short names. Before a long system name like ‘Game Boy Advance’ would truncate to ‘Gam….’ - now it will shorten to ‘GBA’

New features:

- Improved dual-screen use. When holding a finger on an app, you can choose which screen to open it in. Hitting the android Back button a few times will back out of the app and take you back to Jump. The top screen will also get a ‘Back to Jump’ button when opening apps on the bottom screen.

- Hidden games can be unhidden individually rather than batch unhiding everything. Settings -> Library -> Hidden games

- Bug reports can be made in app at Settings -> About -> Report a bug

- You can now search for art by holding down on a game (or pressing Select) and selecting ‘Find art in the library…’ which will let you search for the art you need. If it’s not there - let me know! I’m still collecting.

- Pressing B when on the home screen now takes you back to wherever you were before instead of quitting the app

- Alphabet switching. Moving the right stick left and right now jumps between letters of the alphabet. If your device doesn’t have a right stick or you just prefer to use touch input for this, you can enable the alphabet bar under Settings -> Look and choose where you want it to be on screen.

- Hide the ‘Grid - Shelf - Tower - Case’ buttons. This was requested by a few people so I’ve added a toggle to hide these in Settings -> Look. L2 and R2 still switch views.

- If you’ve hidden ‘Grid - Shelf - Tower - Case’ buttons, you can choose to center the system name in Settings -> Look. Alternatively, you can show the alphabet where the view buttons previously were.

- Android games! I can’t believe I overlooked this. There is now a dedicated Android section for Android games. It will automatically move over games from the Apps section based on how they’re classified. If it is wrong, hold your finger on a game or app (or press Select) to move it between the Apps tab or Android tab.

- You can also open the App Info page by holding down an app to uninstall or interact with that app. This is especially useful if you’re using Jump as your home screen.

- Backup and Import settings! Once you’ve got Jump setup perfectly just the way you like - you can export your settings to import into Jump on one of your other 17 handhelds! You can backup your theme settings, your favorites/collections/recents, and even all the downloaded artwork to transfer over so you don’t need to redownload it. You can select which you want to backup.

- ’Controls & Buttons’ in Settings -> About shows what each button does so you can learn to control Jump and in case you forget. I keep forgetting and I’m the one making the thing.

- You can now hide the words from Collections if you’ve added an image. So you can add a nice Pokemon logo to your Pokemon game collection and then hide the words to make it clean (toggle in Settings)

- Multi-select. When you hold down on a game to bring up the individual menu, you can now choose ‘Select multiple…’ which will take you into the multi-select menu. You can then tap multiple games and add them all to Favorites or Collection(s) or Hide them all at once. You can also use this method to move multiple Android apps between the Apps and Android sections or batch hide unnecessary apps.

- Favorite games now have a little star at the top-right of the box art. This can be toggled off in settings.

- Art fetching is now more clearly defined in Settings -> Art and can replace art with newer versions when I update the placeholder files with better quality scans.

More art:

- Over 1,000 new 3DS Spines! It’s very difficult to find real 3DS spine images so previously I was using just the left side of the box cut to look like a spine. I found a 3DS spine template image and used it to write the names of games so now 3DS games will at least have a realistic-looking spine if not the real one (150 are real spines, 1000 are from the template). To update these spines go to Settings -> Art and under ‘Sync what’ make sure only ‘Spines’ is lit yellow. Then under ’Sync for’ choose only ’Nintendo 3DS’. Then hit ‘Replace art from library’ which will replace whatever you currently have for 3DS spines with the new ones from my library.

- Lots of NeoGeo art! This one is quite tricky because the game names are usually weird. I’ll need to keep testing this more. I’ve added more boxes, spines, and carts!

- GameCube discs! I was previously using placeholder art but now have replaced many of them with true disc scans. Use Settings -> Art -> ‘Get more and missing art’ to replace the old placeholders with the new scans.

Great update Ryan, I've been running it as my daily driver since updating to 1.2. I am having an issue, around 1 out of every 5 launches of retroarch 64 the launcher gets hung up on a white screen with the retroarch logo in the center. The only way to fix it is to force close retroarch through androids recent apps menu, then usually it will launch correctly the next launch.

Right now I am using esde for my front end and I'm wondering if there's any way that you can link jump to the artwork that is already in esde so that we can use that instead of downloading more artwork and taking up more SD card space. I know cocoon can do it so I wonder if you could implement the same type of thing. Other than that everything seems to be working pretty good so far

Okay, so, i watched the video and thought it was cool. Decided I'll give it a shot since ES-DE was kind of boring me. I saved the file to load it later on my rp5 and well, now is later 😅 Honestly, its so much simpler than ES-DE, and has a good look to it. I love the different categories you got for displaying the artwork. I noticed some of the shelf artwork is either wonky or not there (yes, i imported, but then i redownloaded all art). Its not a big deal as i got other ways of looking at them, but the shelf is my favorite right now. The one request i have is a way to reorder the console layout. I think it would be cool to have them in order of handheld then consoles, or the year each system came out, but not grouped up by brand. So like, gameboy color, then ps2, then gba and gamecube. I personally like it that way since i go to era, then console instead of brand, console. 😅 i know, im weird Love the app though, and im glad i joined to get it!

PS2 games don't launch with NetherSX2. It just opens the app not the game

Hi Ryan This is the Front end I've waiting for. Thank so much for putting in the time and effort to make this for the community It's awesome 👍🏻 can't wait to see It improving overtime. But I just require. I can't get it to work on the magicx Zero 40 . It just won't boot up at all if you get time can you take a look. I think it might be the age of the Android Build . Anyway thanks again for doing this made me subscribe to your patreon 👍🏻

Just switched over from Cocoon loving Jump so far! I notice several popular 3DS games don't have anything to scrape for their cartrides, and I own a bunch of those. Would it be helpful at all for me to scan what I've got and send it to you somehow?

Great stuff but in a future version can you allow system rom folders to be added that aren’t inside a ROMs folder as a number of my systems aren’t and at the moment they’re not showing even once I’ve added the folder, many thanks in advance!

Hi Ryan, Great launcher so thanks for making it. Really excited to see what more you add. I can see others have already mentioned WiiU is missing. Not sure if that's planned for a future update. Also, will future updates be available to those who choose to unsubscribe? I thought I read that it did but I wasn't sure how or if I read that wrong.

BoneHeadedCJ · September 4, 2026

I would absolutely love if there was a customizable sort option like Beacon. Whether it’s implemented in the look section of the settings or hot-swappable from the main screen I think it would be a really nice touch for the folks that like to organize their system sorting

Leandro Alves dos Santos · September 4, 2026

Would it be possible to add an option to organize/separate games alphabetically in the frontend? I use Cocoon, and it has a similar feature where games are separated by letters. I created folders for each letter of the alphabet (A, B, C, etc.), and Cocoon automatically shows them grouped by letter. It would be really nice to have something similar in JUMP, especially for large game libraries. Thanks for your work on JUMP!

Hey Ryan! Very good launcher, but i can't find a way to put my vita games on it.. Do you have a tutorial somewhere?

N
NoeleyC · September 3, 2026

Only just subscribed, will have to try it out later. It's it possible to add extra systems manually? I find a lot of these frontends never include the good old Atari800 (that was my first computer)

Hello - I see that WiiU ROMs folder isn't supported for now. Would you be adding support in near future?

Love your work Ryan, I was really impressed seeing the YouTube video on Jump. Excited to get started! Make sure to get some sleep in between ;)

The frontend is fantastic! I’ve tested it on several devices — the Anbernic RG405M, Retroid Pocket Mini V2, Retroid Pocket G2, and AYANEO Pocket ACE — so I wanted to share a few thoughts and suggestions. On devices with OLED screens, it would be great to have an option to set the background to completely black. More generally, I think it would also be nice to have the option to use a custom wallpaper as the background, regardless of the type of display. I really like the way the game collection is displayed using the cover spines. However, not all of the platforms I use have spine artwork available, for example arcade games. I really enjoy this style of displaying my collection, so it would be great if there were a way to customize the collection view separately for each platform. I think this could also help users give the frontend a much more personal look and feel. I also noticed that AetherSX2 Turnip isn’t detected automatically. When I add it manually, the frontend launches the emulator itself instead of launching the selected game. I think that’s all the feedback I have for now. Great work! This is exactly the kind of frontend I’ve been looking for.

Oh and FYI I am missing WiiU for some reason. Also tried adding the folders with my Roms specifically even though they are part of the Roms folder but no luck it showing up as a system yet, I did rescan my library. But no rush. Thanks in advance!

Hmm the Android games tab is a bit of a regression. I understand some people wanted it but mine will forever be empty, now it's just an annoying empty tab I can't remove. i get it for visibility but this is probably worthy of a toggle in settings if you even want it. The App drawer was plenty for me.

R
Ryan Retro · September 3, 2026

I will make sure to add this as an option in the next update

This frontend is showing so much potential. The main thing keeping me from completely switching over is 3DS games in zcci format not showing and the settings page not having controller support. My favorite feature is the fast and automatic art scraper.

B
Ben “Bentendo” Dawson · September 2, 2026

Great progress :) although it seems like 3DS is still not reading .cci file types for Azahar. I have several games not appearing as a result.

Great frontend, really fun! My only problem is with switch games. I have a subfolder in there for all my updates and dlc, and it's scraping all those too, resulting in multiple entries per game. Is there a way to stop it scanning subfolders? Thanks!

R
Ryan Retro · September 3, 2026

I added deep scanning in a recent update which is causing this. Ill fix this in the next version!

Having tried Jump on my AIR X today, one of the big things I was going to suggest (and this is something I had gotten used to from living with daijisho) was to have a way to have android games seperate from the other apps, so I'm happy to see that resolved already... If I might make a couple suggestions (that admitedly are probably me specific), I'd like to be able to add android apps to collections because I want to group together a couple of gaming adjacent android apps, specificaly better xcloud and Moonlight), and I would like to request the ability to choose the display name and art region for a system that was called differently in different regions (in my case I grew up with the Genesis, so having Megadrive as the console name and seeing box art that isn't what I grew up with is doing my head in. Being able to choose between SNES and super famicom for example, would also be cool). I would also like to see screenscraper integration as an option at some point, at least as a stopgap while you continue to add to your own art database, or maybe in the future it could also stay as a fallback to scrape art for some really niche and obscure games you either didn't know about or can't find art for... Other than that, I really like Jump as it is, and can't wait to see how it improves over time

R
Ryan Retro · September 3, 2026

In the next update, I'll add the ability to add apps to collections, and renaming, hiding, and rearranging systems.

Is it going to be possible to set the view type per platform? I'd like to have GBA as Case and GameCube as Grid for example. Currently while you can set the zoom per platform you can't set the view type.

N
Nemesis1984 · September 2, 2026

I might have overlooked it but is there also a way to open certain systems on the bottom screen and others on the top. I know you added the possibility for apps to be opened on another screen but for games I only saw the option to either launch all games on the top screen or not. Being able to open widescreen content on my top screen and more square ish content on the bottom screen in the future would be epic. But first definitely take some well deserved rest! 🙏
