Jump v1.1 with a lot of fixes and improvements!
Thank you to everyone who has downloaded and tried Jump so far! I’ve already got lots of great feedback and it’s amazing to see others using something I’ve been working hard on for so long!
I recommend installing RetroArch from the official website instead of through the Play Store because the Play Store version is outdated.
Click the ‘Download (64 bit) here: https://retroarch.com/?page=platforms
Or get the latest version directly from here: https://buildbot.libretro.com/stable/1.22.2/android/RetroArch_aarch64.apk
v1.1 Change Log:
Bugs fixed:
- Search box not showing on some devices and filling the screen on others
- L/R bringing search box up again before switching views
- Saturn games not launching
- RetroArch closing when putting device to sleep
- Box art not being picked up if in unexpected folders
- Art filling up device’s image gallery
- Some games not displaying art due to irregular naming patterns
New features and improvements:
- Multiple ROM directory support. You can now add as many ROM folders as you want (internal and external) and all will be included.
- Emulator & Core selection is now clearer in the Settings menu
- Choosing an emulator and/or core for a specific game is easier
- AetherSX2/NetherSX2 now launch directly into the game rather than just opening the app
- More art! Added Discs for Saturn and more Spines for Saturn and Switch
Please write in the comments of this post any bugs you have and I'll keep fixing and improving it :)

Hi Ryan, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but when I add a rom directory it doesn't find/scan any games, despite the fact I'm opening these games fine in each separate emulator outside of the frontend ok. The only rom folder it found games in was my PsP one. I have tons of other roms in my other folders on my SD card (switch, PS2 etc) using my Odin 2 portal. Any ideas?
Liking the front end so far. A couple of requests: - can you add animated backgrounds like retrohrai? - if you press B all the way at the top level of the home menu it will close the front end, or close and reopen it when it’s set as default. Can you please disable this behavior or make it toggle able? - the spine widths on certain systems are too wide and cause the artwork to be stretched. - for certain systems the wrong region artwork is picked up. Could you make an option to manually select the region for that game to scrape? Similar to how Socket handles it. - The base case art seems to be generic for all systems, could you make it unique per system? Like make transulscent plastic for switch boxes, cardboard for GBA/GBC, black plastic for PS2, jewel cases for PS1/Dreamcast, etc
Overall loving the front end Ryan but I have some feedback- it’s hard to explain but I’ll do my best, if need be I can send a video if it doesn’t make sense just ask. I am having an issue with the second screen on the Thor. The smaller screen in particular is getting stuck and I can’t get back to the main Android OS. I used Cocoon before and what I would do is tap the bottom screen and press the physical home button on the Thor and it would return me to the App picker. Maybe I am using it wrong and you have some advice, but I’ve been playing around with it and I pressed X to bring up the Android app section and then I can open another app on the small screen and then I press the back button and it sends me to the Android OS app list rather than the Jump app list. Then I open the Jump app on the smaller screen and it seems to get confused and opens the same view (singular Gamebox and disc/cartridge) on both screens, forcing me to force close the app or tap the top screen and then reopen Jump there and it seems to get its act back together again.
Thanks for the feedback! I just tried it on my Thor and noticed the same thing. I'll get to work on this now. I'm putting out a big update tonight so if I can fix this in the next couple of hours I'll make sure this fix is also included.
Nice front end; had to give it a try! Would be nice to have an alphabetical sort to use when, in my case, 700+ Genesis roms vs trying to scroll to say the letter T, for example.
Brilliant stuff Ryan, swapped every single device to Jump. I'm a simple guy, which is why this looked so appealing, no notes! Well done, I hope it brings you much success. If I was going to add anything, it would just be a Pinned section to the Apps draw, just so I could put Artemis at the top, which is 99% of the time what I want to open. Easy enough to touch but prefer to stick to controls to minimise finger prints.
I'm having issues getting SNES and 32X games to show up. My ROMs folders for both have "na" at the end of the folder names (ES-DE's default folder naming) and Jump doesn't want to recognize them, even if I add both folders manually in addition to my full ROMs folder.
Hi this is amazing, however its missing support for dreamcast and gamehub (bannerhub fork)
Ryan, absolutely love the new launcher! The layout is perfect for me. Jump will be the daily driver on my KPF, and all of my other android handhelds. Thank you for all of the hard work that has been put into it already! I do have a couple of issues, it's probably things you're working on already: Not many of my Mame or NeoGeo roms are scraping. I would say about 15% have artwork. Also, can you add a way to hide the "Grid Shelf Tower Case" in the top right while on the homepage? The only other thing I can suggest is like someone else commented, a dedicated android game section would be awesome!
I hope you enjoy it! I'm still amassing more art so it'll get fleshed out more and more. I'll try to add more NeoGeo today. I'll also work on hiding those buttons and a dedicated Android games section for v1.2! :)
Is there a way to add a "System" for Android games?
The layout is nearly perfect on the RG Rotate (1:1 screen). But the platform title (bold white next to game counter) gets truncated after 3-4 characters. Is there a way to rename the display title instead of truncating it? Or to force it to be the abbreviation ("GBC" vs "Gameboy Color")? [ EDIT: Fixed in v1.2 ] More importantly, Thank You for creating this. It's exactly what I needed for my EDC handhelds.
It allows me to select Lemuroid as the emulator, but then just opens the software rather than "jump" straight into the game.
Thank you for this, testing on the RP5 and for the low price of tree thirty, I had to give this a try. This has so much potential. Might I suggest having the option for different backgrounds or “environments” for the “void” of blank spaces there is… ie the towering option would be nice to see the option of a wall of some short to replicate that feeling that the tower is attached to a wall. Or the ability to add our own wallpapers. Just a thought I’m out of mind and body atm. So ignore this rant and keep up the work. Cheers mate 🍻 For all the adults growing adult broccoli… Keep Growing to the Stars! 🚀🧑🏽🚀
Love it!
Hey! I've just downloaded and I'm trying it on RG477m, looks awesome, definitely I'm going to change it on all my emulation handhelds I'll give you some feedback from some little usage - an oled theme or just a way to make our custom themes and stuff would be awesome - maybe some per system color customize / image (I'm not sure about this one since this launcher is about easy but just to comment it) - for the art downloader maybe something about tags or other custom names just if you don't want to change the name of the game, I'm having some trouble trying to config some specific games - nds shelf view works not very well it doesn't shows the spines correctly
Thanks for the ideas! I just spent an hour or so creating spines for 3DS games using a template and plain text. Around 150 games have real spines but for the over 900 or so I made simplified ones. Go to Settings -> Art, make sure only 'Spines' is lit yellow and then go to 'Sync for' and choose only 'Nintendo 3DS' then hit 'Replace art from library'. That should give you all the new updated spines! I'll include this in the version 1.2 notes.
