Status Update #62 - May 17, 2026
Hey hey hey
I got a lot of writing done in the past week, though there is still a fair bit left to go. I think of like this: if it's getting to be toward the end of May and I see the finish line, I'll go all-in on writing as much as I can to make it so. I can't wait to get this update out and see what people think. I hope people appreciate the sort of radical transparency I provide, wherein I give exact estimates for when I'll be done, but then said exact estimates are often wrong. I think it's better this way than it is with a lot of other creators in this space who use language that is deliberately vague in updates like these. Either way, I'll be able to say with certainty whether or not the writing will be done in May in the next status update.
This one is out a day later than normal because I've been talking to my publisher about how I might revamp the Patreon tiers to make subscribing more attractive prior to the game releasing on Steam. It was up in the air whether or not I'd introduce new tiers and benefits (I'm only adding stuff, don't worry) this week or the next, and I ultimately decided it was better to hold off. The hold-up comes in the form of a possible perk I'm working on, namely a 4K version of the game. All of the sprites and a great many of the CG's in this game have been scaled down to around 1920x1080 from their native resolution, and I would love people to be able to look at stuff in higher detail if they have the monitor for it. Which I don't! XD
That being said, it remains unclear whether or not making such a version is possible; I don't know whether I'll be able to upscale all of the animations, for instance. I mean to find that out over the course of the next week, but it's still way below writing in terms of my priorities so I'll be looking into it sparingly with writing still being my main focus.
This week's list:
Writing: 75% done
Coding: 0% done
CGs: All either made or in the process of being made
Animations: 1 more scene to do
Background Art: 100% Ready
Music: 100% Ready
Thanks for reading! Slán go fóill ☘️!

I also like the transparency. Though, I don't really mind vagueness that much as well. After a few updates you can roughly estimate the dev cycle and get used to it. In games with drawn art styles, I'm even more tolerant, since suddenly there is a whole supply chain to make it. As for the 4K version, even though I have a display for it, I would opt for 1080p anyway to save on disk space.
"Hey hey hey, stay out of my shed!" Oh wow, you unlocked a primal memory for me. I didn't even remember Shed.mov existed! XD Personally, I appreciate your transparency regarding the game's progress. It's much better than hearing vague promises about when an update will be released, as is common with other projects. (Or absolute silence for months.) Also, from what I've seen, you've made good progress each week with each update. Four out of six objectives are basically complete, and only one is about 25% away from finishing the writing. That's pretty good, in my opinion. One last thing: I don't have a large monitor either, so a 4K version of the game doesn't appeal to me much. But I don't know what other players think, so this is just my opinion.
