April Update & May Plans!
Today's patreon exclusive update contains some actual updates! Not just me saying "yeah I haven't worked on that thing I mentioned last month" over and over (though there is some of that too).
I finished my historical Rapunzel gown, along with my 1860s butterfly ballet costume. I started on something quirky from the 1880s. I made two hoop skirts and have big plans for what will go atop them.
Some projects did get neglected, like the Downton Abbey inspired design, and my Barbie series. But I feel confident they will get picked back up in May, and hopefully finished before June.
I've been taking on some weird side projects recently too - and reignited my love of vintage sewing machines, both of which are mentioned at the end. All and all it was a pretty full month, and I'm feeling optimistic about May. I have have to get through my pile of accounting and taxes first...which I am less optimistic about, lol!
As always I would love to know what you've been up to! I really appreciate your support and will talk to you in MAY!

I am so excited for you
Where can I find those fabrics. They are so beautiful. That one with the bird is best. Wants it. Where and who is the designer. Sorry I´m going to calm down... but but those fabrics.... Have you shown the fabrics in any of yours video....fabric haul?
I am looking forward to the new projects you are doing! I love the pink fabrics you chose. Very pale pink is one of my favorite colors. Do you remember where you bought the pink and pearl ribbon? It is stunning and would be perfect for a project I'm going to be working on soon. Maybe in the future you could list where you got your fabrics/trims from? That would be so helpful. The new machines are amazing! Can't wait to see those! Thanks so much for sharing all of your projects with us.
I adore all of your projects but the videos I am looking forward to the most is the butterfly skirt and chemise, which turned out so beautifully, and the 1890s pattern clash/but doesn't really clash project. That looks like SO. MUCH. FUN. The fir trimmed skirt is amazing. I'm really looking forward to seeing that one.
Love hearing about the vintage sewing machines and those free spirit fabrics
Can’t wait to see the outcome of everything planned for May!! And I would LOVE to see your unicorn “taxidermy” project video! 🥰🥰 I hope you have a very inspired sewing month!!🥰🥰
i vote for a bead organizing video and sewing machine video even if its just your computer screen showing various listings for different vintage sewing machines and which would be worth it or not!
I think I’ll be getting your new patterns this weekend. I have a really cute Halloween fabric I got a few years ago at Joann’s that I think would be perfect for them.
Not sure if it provides any comfort but as someone with a Masters degree in Public History I don't think people should feel so self-conscious of things being more historically inspired than "accurate". I find that what people usually mean when they refer to something as "accurate" is a replica. Creating a replica can be highly informative and engaging but I don't think it is necessary to go that far in order to form an appreciation and connection with the past. The only truly "accurate" sample is the historical piece itself. Simply being inspired by elements of historical clothing to create your own creation with modern day materials is its own form of creating a relationship with the past, which is what doing history is all about! :) I love seeing you imagine and create something new with your historical research. It's a ton of fun and teaches people that the applications of research go beyond a one-to-one recreation. I look forward to your future projects!
Belated Happy Birthday, Angela. Bummer you couldn't go on the trip with your Mum. Big hugs to Posey. Hope you got some really exciting 'finds' from that trip. Oh this is so exciting - I am looking forward to seeing the costume you make from those gorgeous Free Spirit fabrics. Love that colour combination, which could be a tetrad of russet/rust. That is going to look 'wow'! You have such an eye for colour combinations/textures and of course, you are the Queen of Embellishment!!!! 🥰 Looking forward to seeing the 'Butterfly Gown' too. And the passion projects too. I always learn something new from your adventures and I appreciate you sharing them with us. ❤️ Stay safe and take care of yourself. Sending best wishes to you and yours from Down Under ❣️🌺❣️🇦🇺😎
