Devlog #9
A quick update this time since there's a lot I don't want to share, since we're getting into spoiler day 3 territory, but here we go.
Here's a lot of angles of Jim's new winter outfit. Nice, insulated, and waterproof. Rendering all this was like being in garbage bag hell. But ultimately I am happy how it turned out for now.
Sharing more detailed renderings of Jim's gun and knife. A Remington Model 700 with scope. American, deadly, and practical just like our ol' boy Jim. And the hunting knife from, uh, don't know.
Accidental "You can’t trust anyone, not even yourself" T.T
Here's a really cropped picture of a CG from day three...you are outside with Jim. Doing something...Wish I could show more because I think it turned out really well. It wouldn't really be the craziest spoiler, but I still feel weird showing it at this point.
I'm mostly done with Jim's Sprite, as far as I can tell, for day one to three. So that's a nice milestone. I think I'll just keep focusing on art as I still have lots of backgrounds and CGs to make. The rendering and animation I like to include does take extra time, but I think it really adds to the immersion.
I REALLY want to finish the rest of the art I need within a month...We will see. The gap between my current skills and what I'm trying to make is frustrating, but I'm gonna keep working as hard as I can! Hopeful lots more progress to show in the next devlog!

I wonder how the next day will turn out. I can see him teaching us about the wildlife, his ways of surviving or hunting. But I have a feeling M/C realllly has to earn his trust to be brought outside.

the up close knife rendering is soooo. eheeheee his new little outfit is so cute too !! love all the detailing on his clothes; his coat looks so real and it gives him so much dimension. I can tell you're familiar with the garment !! I used to have a similar one in red before I decided I hate the color lol
You can do it! ✨ seeing how well you're improving is super motivating, I hope you're able to capture your vision. Also I swear every new Jim sprite makes me swoon 🫣
Gah! Everything looks so good! I cant wait to see the finish product! I have a question: how would jim feel about the MC having a pet with them in the cabin? Like maybe MC found a stray puppy or kitten and wants to take it in
At some point he'd probably love that. Doting and worrying about it.
Great work. It motivates me to finish my own projects.
Agh, seeing Jim wield his rifle is sparking my competitive side, my MC would love to have a few rounds of a, like, target shooting competition, if he's competitive at all, though I think he'd just be thrilled MC has a similar interest as he does. I assume he's a pretty decent shot? Yanno, for game...and...stuff :3 Also please let me know if dumping art in your ask box is getting to be too much. I do have the shirt finished and in my hands and I'll send it when I get a chance!
He'll participate in some competition with the MC but there won't be any real heat in it from his side. I'd say he's a decent shot haha Naw, it's a nice surprise on the rare occasion I pop onto tumblr ^^
okie the comment section is a weird place to ask that, but since Jim is getting a new face will we ever see an official photobash of him? I'm curious because I know some VN devs like to do it with their characters.
Oooh, I've never photobashed for a character before. And he's already in a closer to realistic style already soooo I don't know if it'll add much effect.

Ah I love your updates, they always inspire me. I’d love to be a fly on the wall of your files to understand more how you do all this game stuff, even just canvas sizes and dpi or something. So cool to see them all pieced together side by side : ) So excited for day 3 : ) I understand not showing us what you can keep a surprise, it’ll be fun whenever we get the moments with him
canvas sizes are probably too big haha sorry for future file sizes T.T I prefer surprises!
This is so awesome!!! I’m looking forward to seeing the full cg!!! And I get the gap frustration, but with every bit of work you put in you get closer and closer to that goal!! Haha maybe? When I take breaks and draw for fun, I sometimes remember comments like this.
