New test version and a workaround
Sorry guys for the problems with Virtual Steward, if you are encountering the crash on start, please download the attached test version. You won't be able to select additional cars but all of the rest should work.
With this new version I addedd a workaround to still be able to add cars to the server. On the first run it will create a file in "Documents\Virtual Steward\CarsLists" called "Default cars list.vscarslist". This is just a text file, that you can edit with Notepad, in the format:
<car folder name>;<skin folder name>
You can add as many lines as you want, just one car each line. Reopen VS and you should see the cars in the first list (unless you selected one of the problematic cars).
Cars folders are in "assettocorsa\content\cars", cars skins are in "<car folder>\skins". Don't paste the whole folder path, just the folder name, like in the sample you'll find in the file.
With this version, when you check the "Load cars data" in the settings, VS will try to immediatly load the informations. This way, in case of crash, it won't be able to save the flag to the ini file and you won't have to delete it to be able to start it again. If you already downloaded the previous test version and are unable to start it, just delete the "Virtual Steward.ini" file or edit it to remove the "LoadCarsData" line.
PS: this should also fix the "The grid was full..." issue.

i cant get it to work the default car list rest its self and the test one is looking for car files in my c drive but there in my E drive and i dono how to change that
You have to change the first value, "Assetto Corsa Folder", in the settings dialog to match your AC installation. The settings are the three vertical dots ⋮ button to the left of the question mark. If you've already done that and you also checked the "Load cars data" but the cars are still missing you'll have to use the trick explained in the post with text file.
after deleting conflicting car. VS 0.5b Works also!
i Got it working. turned off windows defender. i see the conflicting car. under the tab error loading. and deleted it. Thnx for your Efforts!
I just load the json file in the ui folder, you can try to fix that instead of deleting the whole car. In fact, if you could send me a copy I could try to better manage that type of error. (Still scanning, it switched to the HDD and it will take forever, I hope it was just a false-positive)
