Nerissa Ravencroft - 2 Song Study: 'BIRDBRAIN' & 'Down By The River'

Tim just straight faced no reaction when Nerissa shouted my penis 😂

Nerissa (and all of her siblings) did musical theater. I don't know if they continued after high school or if her parents paid for more training but since it requires projecting your voice she had some classical training. I think there's even a clip out there of her doing an opera song but I could also have just imagined it.

Nerissa is my Kami - Oshi. I hope you can do a deeper dive! She has a full EP and lore behind her best cover, that can't be shown on Youtube by her sadly because it got mega copyright struck - Lillium. its still floating around but is not monetized.

Her "Love Me, Love Me, Love Me" cover is so so good, her rendition is in English and I have been addicted to her music ever since

I love JamieP/FLAVORFOLEY

Her original song "Blue World" is a piece where she pours so much of herself, Nerissa has spoken about having to take breaks while recording because she got very emotional. She wrote the lyrics and had a LEGENDARY producer (THE persona guy) make the music (I'm blanking on his name, its 4am). Its a melancholic song about working towards feeling better, and the tinge of hope in it always has me coming back. I feel like you'd enjoy it. Always need more Nerissa in my life.

A lot of folks, including Nerissa, said that her cover is quite different from what the original is supposed to be. But I think her cover really delivers the message of the song, kind of like screaming in frustration about the self doubt, in a musical and emotional way. Plus it features so much of her vocal power.

If there is ever going to be another study on Nerissa I would recommend 'Blue World'.

I think there are a few more Nerissa songs, but she has not released an insane amount yet solo, so you would probably have to include some duet/group songs or live performances. In general there is a big world out there with hololive birthday/anniversary 3d performances that most talents do once a year. And the live performances are definetely worth a watch, for example the recent preview of the 4th Hololive EN Concert in LA - Serendipity. There are like 3-5 Songs for both days on the free preview on youtube.

She has very good covers of songs that she did with ERB also.

I would definitely love to see a whole bundle on Nerissa she is such a fun singer to explore!

A Vocaloid song that has A LOT of Cover Versions by Hololive Members would be "King"

Nerissa does not often push her chest voice so high so she was a little bit shy about her Birdbrain recording but I personally think her vocal tone sells the emotion of the song so well, even if it gets a bit pinched at the top. As a side note, the mobile studio looks great! Personally I think the moving RGB lighting is a bit distracting but I think it's cool that you could customize the colour depending on what you're reacting to!

Nerissa did not like how she sung birdbrain and was hesitant to release the song on youtube as she felt it failed to capture the charm of the vocaloid version as she 'tried too hard', regardless i feel it captures the heart of the song. Also would be cool for you to study covers of it alongside the original

If you want another fantastic vocaloid cover from Nerissa, her cover of Meltdown from her 3d live is amazing

Thank you for the video! I've been looking forward to this and Nerissa is one of the strongest vocalists amongst Hololive talents in my opinion, I am very excited for the bundle study! A little fun fact is that Nerissa and Elizabeth are both exceptional vocalists and they are also one of the most shipped pairs, with their own ship name BloodRaven. They always act very affectionately towards each other and their song collaborations are always insanely good. I'm sure it'll come up in the request list down the line and I can't wait for you to experience it for the first time!

There are multiple covers of BIRDBRAIN. Bao the Whale, Will Stetson, Evil and a few others have done it
