So Mihoyo is one of the largest game companies right now. They make a TON of money making what are called "Gacha Games." The game has you either collect items in game by completing quests OR spend your own money to get the items needed to do "pulls" which is essentially you spend the items to gamble on whether or not you get the newest character to be able to use in game. You don't necessarily NEED these characters as they give you enough characters as part of the game to be able to do everything. But new characters make it easier and flashier for you. The issue, in order to keep the money flowing they release 1-2 new characters every few weeks in EACH of their games. They have like 6 games running right now I think. So yes sex appeal is a major concept used to sell the characters to have people spend more money to get them. Though when it comes to songs as part of the marketing campaign the songs are usually more focused on Meme value. The games are wildly different. Zenless here is a dungeon based speedy hack n slash game. You choose a dungeon from the list, choose your 3 characters and run through blowing enemies away and beating the boss. VERY fast paced. While like Genshin is more of a slow, open world experience with hack n slash game play. Then like Star Rail is a straight turn based JRPG experience more focused on story telling then combat. In a similar fashion to Vtubers, Mihoyo as a company understands the extreme importance of fan interactions. Like with Riku they do often seek out fans and artists to make things for events and conventions and such. They also have a very lenient terms for selling "fan art" which I don't think any other company has ever done. Usually the sale of fan art for an IP is very bad and the companies come down on your hard for it. So that is nice, specially since I run a fan art business :P
