The cogwork dancers were SO fun to fight, their fighting mechanic is unlike any other boss so far in this game and it's just so cool I love them omg
I finally got far enough into Silksong that this isn't a spoiler anymore so I can finally watch!! I am so beyond obsessed with Hollow Knight and Silksong, if you are ever in a gaming mood and want recommendations, I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend both of them!!!! The music throughout both games is gorgeous, not to mention the art style, the characters, the lore, the map and world building, the gameplay mechanics and how it all builds on itself so seamlessly that even someone like myself who is horrible at gaming can gradually become good at it! God, just absolute masterpieces of games, near perfection in my opinion, I seriously cannot recommend them enough!!!!!!
I finished Hollow Knight with a 112% save game recently and played Silksong till the end of the 2nd act and it definitely was one of my best gaming experiences I ever had. Just beautiful designed games, super hard but always rewarding whenever you beat the bosses. Christopher Larkin really did a wonderful job for the soundtrack of the game, and it does sound like he worked with a real Orchestra for Silksong. A really great soundtrack overall. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6is6K8jbho Always recommend getting into the Hollow Knight games, but you really need to take a bit of time to learn the mechanics in the games. It has some tough platformer parts which a lot of people can get annoyed by and the bosses can be super challenging, if you never played soulslike games like Elden Ring before. Part of the experience in the games is exploring the world and finding your own path to beat the game, they are not very linear and you can get easily lost when you explore on your own, which I personally like. The lore is super fascinating in the games and you pretty much have to puzzle out the story pieces by yourself or let the community do it in form of videos etc. The Knight was the protagonist for the game Hollow Knight and Hornet is the protagonist for Silksong. You don't have to play the first game to understand Silksong, but it easier compared to the sequel, so I would just recommend playing the first game to understand the fundamentals otherwise it can be very hard.
I'm in my first playthrough of Hollow Knight (Original) and it really is a wonderful (and brutal) game. Sound design is amazing as first the songs are great and there are many audio clues during play as well.
Also, the music box sound might be a celeste and maybe doubled with tuned wood blocks. (I'm no expert) (Celeste looks like an upright piano with a keyboard but hammers strike tuned metal bars instead of strings, so a much bigger than a thumb piano).
The OST for the first game Hollow Knight and the sequel Hollow Knight: Silksong is hauntingly beautiful. The composer Christopher Larkin knocked it out of the park for both these games with very atmospherics tracks that brings so much character to a world that is already been brought to life in a beautiful hand drawn aesthetic. Tim you were asking what this character is. Basically this whole game plays in the world of insects in a more fantastical setting. Most of them wear white masks to cover their faces. Hornet the protagonist of Silksong is supposed to be a hybrid between a spider and a wyrm.
silksong!!! i’m actually currently in the middle of this boss fight (proving difficult!!) this game was long awaited and highly anticipated by very many people after its predecessor Hollow Knight (and it exceeded expectations) i think you would find most if not all songs from both of these games a beauty and joy to listen to, christopher larkin did a phenomenal job composing 100+ tracks for both games combined. a standout track for me that i think you would find very interesting to pick apart is Greenpath!! it’s generally considered a favorite and a “stop in awe just to hear the song among the game environment for the first time”
I ADORE HOLLOW KNIGHT I WASN'T EXPECTING TO SEE HOLLOW KNIGHT WHEN I OPENED THE PATREON WOWOWOW, I'm also scared to watch this video yet because potential spoilers maybe but THIS IS SO EXCITING
I'm in the middle of my first playthrough of the first Hollow Knight game and it's my favorite thing ever!!! But I'm so bad at it lowkey lol
"Any of you playing this one?" Statistically, yes, a huge chunk of your audience is 😂 This game was HUGELY anticipated. There was a wave of people calling in sick or taking PTO the day it came out and I think it even crashed the Steam store briefly. I'm personally not into platformers but this game and its predecessor Hollow Knight are such high recommended favorites I've been tempted to give them a try. I'm much more a fan of weird little indie games: PlateUp!, DREDGE, the I'm on Observation Duty series. In my book, Uncle Chops Rocket Shop is 2025 game of the year but I don't know if there are enough people who agree with me to sway the vote 😂 I never think to recommend them here because even though they do HAVE music (a lot of them very good music) its so ambient it doesn't really feel like a SONG and there are almost never any vocals.
