My Chemical Romance-'The Ghost Of You'
Wow, the imagery of WWII was heavy and worked so well with the song concept.

MCR was one of the bands than i loved the most when i was a teen, and i remember listening to this song, watching this video ONCE when i was like 14? and avoiding for the next months anything that had to do with it bc it just made me so sad 🤣 But it's a wonderful song, and yes, Gerard Way is very dramatic on his vocals and acting and tbh i love it! xD
Hearing this brought me back to 2007 with my CD player blasting my 3rd copy of the Three Cheers CD that my Catholic parents kept taking away from me. The lyrics come back as if they’ve been waiting patiently on a shelf. I’d recommend the entire album. It was a pillar of my formative years.
yay!! feeling very grateful you’ve been able to react to three of my suggestions 🫶 -yes they just finished the north american leg of “long live the black parade” and are coming back next year 2026 (flying to queens to see them!) -very excited and hopeful for you to react to The Black Parade is Dead! concert video 👀 https://youtu.be/Ud2eziOjjTo?si=eh_1X1p60uvotdfh
as for gerard’s drama, he very much is lol. in the video, the man who “dies” is the bassist, mikey, who is also gerard, the singer’s, brother irl. you can see him in the video screaming “mikey!” and it was very emotional on set. people have pointed out the camera “blurs” after his death, as if there’s tears in his/the viewer’s eyes
First of all, that hurt my heart. I'm Vietnam era and it still hurts that some of my high school classmates either never came home or came home maimed in mind and body. This band is incredible, to be able to dig that deeply, and feel that much, then express it so beautifully.
Love me some MCR. The MV reminded me of the song wrong side of heaven by the band five finger death punch. They’ve got a great sound and would be awesome to hear you break them down sometime!
yeah they've been touring for the last ~3 years ish?? off and on? i saw them in boston in 2022 and they were so good, it was absolutely unreal... if only concerts weren't so expensive i'd love to see them again :,,,) they've mostly been playing their older stuff, but given that they released a new song in 2022 (the foundations of decay) we're all hoping it'll lead to more music!! also this music video is by far their most iconic, the part where the water acts as the transition back to the beaches is still one of the best in terms of special effects.
It's kind of funny, even as a hardcore MCR fan I never liked this song when I was a teen. In hindsight, it was probably just too serious / too real for me to really "get it" so young. As an adult I'm able to appreciate it a lot more. Especially the emotion and the power in his voice. "This guy is so dramatic" yes 😂I think that's the perfect word to describe Gerard Way. I had no idea MCR was doing another Black Parade tour. That's very exciting! The original Black Parade tour I had mentioned in a previous comment, is one of the very few live shows I've seen in person and I remember it being quite good. I'm sure it's only going to be better in 2026.
Very interesting about 2026! I could totally see that about this song when you were younger
