Apologies for multiple comments, but I loved this breakdown! This song has been in my favorites playlist for quite a while since I've been watching Solo Leveling since the first season came out. Given that I grew up in Japan and am a native Japanese speaker, I watch a lot of anime and most of the music I listen to is Jpop and Jrap. Kpop is very similar to Jpop in a lot of ways and I enjoy it for that even though I don't speak Korean. I adore Felix's voice- so much depth and richness to sink into- and after watching this reaction I definitely want to go listen to more by him!
The Japanese drums you referenced are called Taiko drums. They are made in a few different sizes and they are my favorite drum sound! I grew up in Japan and got to listen to them at many events. There is just nothing that compares to the way Taiko vibrate in your chest!
Also the way Taiko are played is almost a sport- very athletic, you have to be quite strong and you move your whole body to play them. Watching a Taiko performance is a very engaging experience.
Yes, like already said we need deep end by Felix! The first time I heard it I had to double check to see if it was just him on the track, it was very unexpected.
It's an anime set in Korea, so the duet of a Japanese singer and a Korean singer kinda makes sense to me. They released two different audio versions of the show (Japanese and Korean) before it could get translated to English dub. I think you'd enjoy Solo Leveling. The lyrics "statue leave a bodycount" will make sense after the 1st two episodes 🫣
It is the opening theme for the anime Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow-. Lisa (stylized as LiSA), is a very famous Japanese singer and songwriter. She has won many awards, but is best known for her songs for the anime film Demon Slayer.

It shows a lot of his range in terms of pitch but also to my untrained ears, I think you'd describe it as different "textures" too? It's very funny to see Felix with his "tough guy" persona on music videos like this and then know that in his lifestyle/variety content, or in celebrity interviews, he's like a little ball of sunshine. He's spoken in interviews about when his voice changed growing up - it was very startling for him. He has said he thought he had a cold at first, but it went on and on. Then he realized his dad also has a very low voice.
Same thing happened to me! I had a cold and my voice stayed low I thought.
This song has a ton of energy. It’s from the anime Solo Leveling which is very action heavy. I also enjoyed Shadowborn and Dark Aria from it. I remember watching it and my Dad refusing to believe Felix’s voice came from a real person when this opening came on
