Try. Learn. Grow.

🧭 This post is the final stop in our Growing your Patreon collection. It’s a chance to reflect on what you've learned, revisit the strategies that resonated most, and decide what you'd like to try next. New here? Consider starting with How should you grow? to discover your best growth opportunities and build a personalized path through this collection.

You made it to the end of the Growing your Patreon collection!

You've taken on quests, tried new strategies, and learned things about your audience you may not have known before.

But here's the thing about this game: the most exciting part is realizing you get to keep playing.

Staying curious, continuing to experiment, and coming back to the map whenever something shifts is your pathway to growing on Patreon. And the better you get at playing, the more fun it becomes.

Come back to the map

Every time you return to your Patreon Insights, it’s a fresh read of your map.

Maybe your audience has grown since the last time you looked. Maybe a new post type is outperforming everything else. Maybe a platform that used to drive traffic to your Patreon has gone quiet while another one quietly picked up the slack.

These are patterns you find by regularly checking in and asking:

  • Which platforms are bringing in the most new members right now?

  • Which posts or previews are driving the most free-to-paid conversion?

  • Which tiers are people joining most and how long are they staying?

  • Where has something shifted since the last time you looked?

Notice what's changed. Then pick your next move.

⚡ Pro Tip: Not sure where to start next? Head back to the How should you grow? post, revisit your Insights, and retake the Growth Pathfinder Quiz. Trust what feels most relevant to where you are right now.

Small experiments can lead to big discoveries

There isn't one perfect growth strategy for every creator. There's only the strategy that fits your work, your audience, and the kind of Patreon experience you want to keep building.

The way you find that strategy is by trying things.

A new call to action. A different posting rhythm. A preview format you haven't experimented with before. A pricing adjustment. A one-time offering. A collaboration you've been meaning to explore.

Some experiments work immediately. Some take refinement. Some surprise you completely. And if one experiment doesn’t go the way you hoped? Now you know. That’s data for your next experiment.

⚡ Pro Tip: After any experiment, check your Insights for movement in page visits, free-to-paid conversion, or earnings by type. Even a small shift in one of those is a signal worth paying attention to.

Leave yourself a breadcrumb trail

Experimenting is fun. But remembering what you tried? Well, that can be tricky.

That's where the Experiment Log in your Growth Quest Log comes in.

Note: The worksheet link will prompt you to make your own copy so you can fill it in (this requires a Google account). You can also download a PDF version at the bottom of this post.

Every time you try something new on your Patreon, jot it down: what you tried, why you tried it, when you did it, and how it went. Over time, that log becomes a running record of what you've tested, what's worked, what hasn't, and what you want to revisit.

No more digging through your memory and wondering, "wait, did I already try that?" Just a growing collection of real evidence about what resonates with your audience and what doesn't.

And when you go back to check your Insights after an experiment, you'll know exactly what you were testing and what to look for.

⚡ Pro Tip: You don't need a perfect result to log an experiment. Even "tried this, nothing obvious happened, worth revisiting in three months" is useful information for future you.

You can always return to the map

Different creators grow in different ways. The more you experiment, the more you start recognizing which strategies, rhythms, and experiences feel most natural for your work. And once you know what fits, you stop spending energy on things that don't.

As your Patreon evolves, the quests most relevant to you will evolve too. Maybe you focused on discovery this time and now conversion feels like the next opportunity. Maybe you worked through your tiers and now pricing is worth revisiting.

Whatever it is: The Growing your Patreon collection is always here. Your Insights are a click away. The Growth Pathfinder Quiz will point you toward whatever comes next.

Every new round of experimentation gives you a clearer picture of the kind of Patreon you want to keep building. And every time you come back, you're playing with more information than you had before.

And you keep getting better at the game.

🧭 Your next steps

Before setting off on your next quest, take a moment to celebrate your progress! Take a victory lap, enjoy your favorite snack, or simply appreciate how much you've grown along the way.

As you continue your growth journey:

  • Revisit your Patreon Insights regularly.

  • Reflect on which strategies are bringing people in, keeping them engaged, or encouraging them to join.

  • Experiment with one or two changes at a time.

  • Use the experiment log in your Growth Quest Worksheet to track what you’re learning.

  • Return to this Growing your Patreon collection and retake the Growth Pathfinder quiz whenever you want help identifying your next growth opportunity.

  • Keep adjusting your strategy as your Patreon and community continue evolving.

I’m playing around with a couple of ideas to do something like the Experiment Log as a shortcut, and also a way to manage all the distractions too.
