In the Making #1

Hey everyone!

I’m here with a trusty old WIP post, but from now on, I’m going to call it In the Making!

I’m so happy you’re enjoying these new types of posts! I was really excited to start doing them and bring a little more variety and interactivity to my page.

How I started

Since the introduction post for this set, I’ve started working on the sunroom windows. I did a lot of brainstorming because I knew I wanted to do something different this time. I felt like another set of wooden frames would be a little repetitive, and then I remembered the light blue iron door I showed you in the Collection Journal.

I really loved the vibe of that door, so I decided to take that idea for the windows! I hope it’ll work well with the stained glass I want to add. I’m not sure it screams Victorian, but I have a feeling it’ll look really nice with the house.

Sizes and options

I wanted to do only a 1-tiled window that could be tiled, since I made the windows seamless. The window is exactly the height of a short wall. For taller walls, I’m also including two additional window sizes (see above): a smaller and a taller version, each with a closed and an open option. This way, you can stack them to create full-height windows on taller walls, place them above doors, or simply use them on their own.

I'm so excited to do this set, I already planned some cool items to really bring this sunroom to life! I can't wait to show you more.

I'm excited for this, too! My Sims just moved into a large ranch, and I want to make it look like an old Victorian house. I've already added a lot of Charm'd items, but these windows and doors are perfect for the porches and sunroom/greenhouses. The existing ones are very plain and these would glam them up!

This is a great evolution of the WIP format. Showing the design decision behind the iron frames and the modular size options makes the process easy to follow. ✨

Thank you! I think it adds a little extra detail and since this'll be a sunroom with plants in it, it represents nature.

I really like that you are making the windows in such a way that they can be stacked for higher walls or used by themselves. It gives so many more options. I can't wait to see the stained glass! 🫶

I did something similar with my cabin windows but this'll be more modular. I thought it might be more useful this way than adding 3 heights of each window (also more practical for me with the stained glass). Plus I want to add windows without the bottom part so it would have been a looot of items, this way is much less.
