Collection Journal #1

Hey everyone!

This is my first Collection Journal! As I mentioned earlier, I’ve been rethinking my WIP posts and want to make them a little more structured and in-depth. I’ll reveal more new post types as we get further into the creation process, but the first one is the Collection Journal!

At the beginning of every new set, I’ll post one of these to show you some of the inspiration I’ve gathered for the collection. I’ll also talk a little more about the idea behind it, what I’m trying to achieve, and how I’m approaching the theme. Let's start the first Collection Journal!

CHARM'D SUNROOM

A sunroom/conservatory has always been part of my plans for the Charm’d collection. When I finished the windows for the first Charm’d set, I wasn’t completely satisfied with the stained glass options, and I really wanted to revisit them.

The whole reason I was drawn to the Victorian theme in the first place was because of a beautiful stained glass window I found on Pinterest. So I knew I wanted to come back to this idea and do it properly.

Inspiration

My main inspiration obviously came from the stained glass windows, and this time I really want to embrace them. I want that feeling when the sunlight shines through the colorful glass and fills the room with a warm, cozy glow.

And what would a sunroom be without plants? I imagine this place as a little tamed jungle. Even though making CC plants is a lot of work, I really want to add some big, bushy ones, maybe even a few vines hanging from the ceiling.

I’ve also been drawing inspiration from Charmed (of course!) and Practical Magic. These two are my main references for this collection because I absolutely love the style of the houses in both. They have that magical, lived-in, cozy feeling that I really want to capture with Charm’d.

The items

I already have a few things planned that I want to add to this set. First of all, the building blocks: full-height windows and doors.

I really don’t want to regret this decision later (because I want the sunroom to be one part, but if it has to be two then okay, it'll be that, I just want to make the cool windows :D), but but I want to do the whole shabang and make curved windows too, just like the ones from my Quiet Corner collection.

I want to make some normal, simple doors for the back of the house, but I might end up designing something that works both as a back door and as a sunroom door.

The plants are also important but if I won't have enough time, I might split up the sunroom into two sets and the inside will be next.

I’m also planning to do a lattice foundation paint (that hopefully looks better than the in-game one) because someone mentioned a while ago that I should make one, and I think this set would be the perfect place to do it.

Another thing I’ve really wanted to include since the earlier parts, but always ended up leaving out, is roof cresting to decorate the roofs. Hopefully I can finally make it happen this time!

I honestly didn’t think I’d have this much to say about this set, but I guess this proves that the new post types will really help me get all my thoughts out and share them with you in more detail.

I really hope you’ll enjoy these new post types! The regular WIPs are staying too, but I’ll use those mainly to share my progress with the items, the technical stuff I’m struggling with, and things like that, pretty much how I’ve been doing them so far.

And next week, I’ll be revealing another new post type! This one will involve you a little more in the creation process, so I’m really excited to show you what I have planned.

I'm so glad you're using both Charmed and Practical Magic as inspo for this!! Halliwell Manor is of course iconic but the Owens House is my favorite movie Victorian and it deserves a lot of love!!

I'm actually obsessed with the house from Practical Magic, so much so that I'm really sure I want to recreate the kitchen for this collection!

Those stained glass windows would look absolutely fab! I have a thing for historical windows (particularly victorian, tudor and jacobean :0)

Thank you! I don't know why but I particularly like modeling windows. :D Something about them always catch my eyes and I have to make them for the Sims.

Thank you so much! I'm so happy you like this new post type! I needed some structure in my life regarding my WIP posts and I thought it would be like a journey from the start to the finish, showing you how I make a set.

Ahhh that sounds amaying, I would love some stained glass windows!!!! And perhaps you could make a 1x1 door (full height)? That would be amaziiiing

V
VALIA · August 30, 2026

I definitely plan to add a 1 tile door. For the sunroom I'm making a full matching set, full height, seamless. And I plan to make an additional door because I feel the original build set is missing a simple, back door.

Love this new type of WIP! Beyond excited for this set, I‘m obsessed with staines glass windows and your Charm‘d windows and doors are already my favourite in game, you‘re making yourself some competition😂 Also love the idea of vines! There are so many in debug but I personally always feel like there‘s pieces missing to get a good overgrown look, your wisteria set from Wisteria Whisk is the only flower/vine set that has everything I need.

Haha, I hope I can beat myself in the stained glass game. :D I was not fully in love with those and sadly I had to finish them quickly and I felt I had to give myself a second chance to fully go out with them and concentrate more on the design and experiment with the thickness of the lines. I started working out the ideas in my head for the vines and right now I'm thinking jasmine plus some type of ivy. But I'm still determining what plant I'm gonna do because there might be another part for the sunroom set which will be the inside with more plants than just the climbing one.

I really like this structured approach to sharing the creative process. The inspiration, design goals, and technical WIPs each have a clear place now. Beautiful concept too! ✨

I mean truthfully if you just want a beautiful sunroom for inspiration The charmed set is gorgeous because it's a beautiful light yellow I think the picture on the left is from the set if not it looks very similar to the one on the set. I can say I haven't seen a lot of people do sets inspired by the charmed TV show or even by Victorian style because it's a niche. It's so stylized, and I feel like the sims 4 community is split down the middle, sometimes it's either they like really modern clean lines or they like a real boho Victorian style. So I can't wait to see what you come up with and I love this idea. Honestly many people have tried to do stained glass but honestly the best stained glass I've seen in the game is by far from growing together and a couple items here and there, the stained glass secret door, but I must say the ones in your set have been phenomenal..it'll be great because no one else has perfected it the way you have so far. And this is a great mood board it's a great way to show people exactly what you're thinking. And I love that you leave comments open because a lot of creators block the comments or locked comments for upper tiers. And this is a great way to get peoples feedback if you're looking for that.

V
VALIA · August 30, 2026

Thank you! I'm happy you like them so far! It's not the actual Charmed windows and I don't want to recreate them exactly the same but the idea of a sunroom and the vibes I want to achieve came from the series. I love reading your comments, I wouldn't lock them ever. It's a great place to communicate and I'm happy to get feedback. Also people often share their ideas which is always welcomed. I try to implement them into the set. In my gameplay I love both modern and cozy interior style but when I'm doing CC I always end up with something not modern. :D I want to capture a feeling and I think I can do that best with these more laid back styles.

Curved windows!!! BLESSED BE!!!! Loved the inspo of the stained glass that has lavender, so stunning! Might be biased coz lavender, hydrangeas and daisies are my favorite, but still... XD

V
VALIA · August 30, 2026

I'm still debating over the curved version because I only want to make 1-tiled windows and I don't know yet how they'll look curved. But if they look good, then they'll come! The stained glass pattern is only an inspiration at this point, but I'll keep in mind you preferences and I think the flower theme would fit nicely with my ideas.

I'm loving this a whole lot! You of course, leave me drooling for what is to come, but I can be very patient! 🤭 I am so grateful that you choose to share all these wonderful creations with us. Keeps me a lot more interested than the "kits" endlessly promoted by EA

V

Thank you! I'm happy you like the direction. I really enjoy sharing my thoughts, it gives us an opportunity to talk about the set.

Shamir Patel · August 28, 2026

if you want, i'm a amateur architectural historian and if you want i can share some references that'll aid you in the process as the Edwardian style is one of my favourite styles and one that I am deeply familiar with along with the Victorian of course.

V
VALIA · August 30, 2026

That's so nice of you to offer! I'd be happy to see your references. I want to be accurate but still experiment with ideas. If you want, you can message me on Instagram or Tumblr and we can chat. :)

NoNayNever · August 28, 2026

Love love love your ideas! Looking forward to all the WIP posts SO much! And please don't fear splitting this up into more than one set - Take your time and be happy with what you create!

V
VALIA · August 30, 2026

Thank you! I always end up splitting them because I have so many ideas for one things, I can't do everything all at once. 😅 But I like that I have the freedom to do anything. :D And I already know those windows will take a lot of time.
