This is the first episode of evangelion I saw as a kid a random afternoon on tv this felt so outlandish and creepy especially the way that thing was walking.

This was when Misato became one of my favorite characters! Loved the analysis as always, you two!

Maybe you guys could do a Blind Wave and just post the intro + reviews for the episodes on YT and link the reaction in the description box? And since the reactions are now on patreon/vimeo I wonder if its possible to be more lenient in the editing and remove the transparency effect on the episode highlight or subtitle portion so its its easier to watch?

I just hope someone saved their Episode 1 discussion and it isn't truly lost forever.

The objects Misato was struggling with once the password failed were the nuclear reactor's control rods. These would end a nuclear reaction and therefore cut off the reactor's power if inserted. Trying to force them in manually was the only option at that point, but a very desperate one.

I like how you both have different theories, it's more enjoyable than being on the same page from the start. One thing I will tentatively point out -- because it seems people might be giving too much away in their comments -- is pay attention to that last scene with Shinji's father. The dialogue said in that scene answers a question you had about the episode.

God, i already forgot how healing it is to hear these two cooking. I surround myself with too much grift and lazy ignorance it's hurting my soul seeing not a single original thought being allowed to develop, forgetting why i do this, trying to get others to be less scared to cook themselves.

Don't worry too much about episodes that need to be watched together. The only consensus I would say is 25 & 26, the last two episodes. Other than that, some episodes are more connected than others but it's not a big deal.

You can make a community post on YouTube for every episode and link to Patreon so people are informed.

thought i’d let u girls know there was a brand new 3 min short video released for mob psycho’s 10th anniversary, you can find it on youtube subtitled on the warner bros japan channel. it was so cute that it made me tear up seeing our boys animated again😭 it’ll be four years since it ended by the end of this year❤️

If you're worried about the title getting flagged on youtube, call it "Robot Show" :P

First of all.. regarding your situation with this show in YouTube.. it sucks because like you girls I don’t like when others are missing out content. I don’t know if this will work but maybe you girls put the link to the reaction on the description of your videos? But can they claim links as well? Ahh.. what a tough spot tbh. Worse case scenario you can upload a video explaining to the people in YouTube why you can’t upload your Evangelion reactions in YouTube anymore. Now regarding the episode.. I feel it’s the details where you will get the most information ;) ahh so many theories but all I gotta say it’s that’s by end you will need to keep track of all of them or at least remember a couple of them lol

I was worried about the copyright. there's a reason so many people don't run this on youtube. They're so aggressive about it despite the show being 30 years old. IMHO it (the original series) should be public domain at this point. Capitalism tho.

Dooly · July 18, 2026

I get the sentiment, but that’s not how public domain works

T
Timothy Smith · July 14, 2026

You could always just do like a picture and a text post on YouTube about the episodes going public.

Maybe it would be enough if you uploaded a short youTube video explaining the situation and announcing that the Evangelion reactions are now Patreon exclusive

tbh, every channel is going through this rn with Evangelion. It should be obvious

My comments about this episode The final conversation about Misato is one of my favorite moments in the episode. As Toji puts it, "That’s the real Misato, the one we outsiders never see. That means you are family." A Freedom of Information Act typically refers to a law that gives the public the right to request records held by government agencies, although certain information can legally be withheld for reasons such as national security or privacy. In this episode, Gendo is told that requests made through this process have been answered with falsified information. That detail connects directly to the explanation of First and Second Impact. The First Impact was the event that caused the extinction of the dinosaurs. To explain Second Impact to the public, the government claims that another meteorite struck Antarctica. Ritsuko reveals that this story is false. She explains that the First Angel was discovered in Antarctica and that a massive explosion of unknown cause occurred while it was being studied. That detail is important because it shows that Second Impact did not happen when the Angel arrived on Earth, but only after it had already been discovered and researchers began studying it. The episode also introduces a nuclear-powered giant robot developed by the private company Japan Heavy Chemical Industries as an alternative to the Evangelions. The robot is called Jet Alone, and its creators present it as a safer and more controllable system. Its public demonstration quickly becomes a nuclear emergency. Personally, it made me think of Chernobyl, but not because I think the episode is intentionally referencing it. Misato tries to stop the reactor by manually inserting the control rods. In real reactors, these rods are made from neutron-absorbing materials such as boron or cadmium. For that reason, inserting them reduces or stops the nuclear fission chain reaction and therefore shuts down the reactor and prevents a meltdown.

I haven’t clicked the video yet but could this be a wholesome episode for once? O; just judging by thumbnail that could be a possibility.. let’s find out.
