Shaddolands – Memories: The Demo is Here!

Hey folks,

Well... I thought it was about time I gave you something to actually play. 😋

While working through Part One of Shaddolands – Memories, I realised I'd reached a point in the story that works perfectly as a natural stopping place for a demo.

So rather than keep everything hidden away until Part One is completely finished, I've decided to let you have an early look.

Welcome to Shaddolands – Memories.

Before you dive in, there are a few things I'd like you to know.

As I've mentioned in previous updates, Memories is a kinetic (linear) visual novel. That's a deliberate decision.

Mal is already an established character in Shaddolands. We know the woman she eventually becomes, and the events you're going to experience in Memories are her past. Giving the player choices that fundamentally change Marilyn or her history would mean changing the character who arrives at the beginning of Shaddolands.

So this time, you're not here to decide Mal's story.

You're here to discover it.

A few things about this demo

1. There is no sexual content in this release. This is an introductory demo and ends before the story reaches that stage.

2. There may still be a bug or two hiding in there. I've tested it and fixed everything I've found, but this is a demo, so if you spot something I've missed, please let me know.

3. This isn't necessarily the final version of these scenes. As development continues, I may tweak dialogue, renders, transitions or other details before the finished Part One is released.

4. I'm currently experimenting with a new animation tool. Early results are encouraging, and I'm hoping it may finally allow me to introduce some animation into the completed version of Part One. No promises just yet — I want to be happy with the results first.

If you'd rather experience Memories for the first time in its completed form, then I'd recommend waiting for Part One, which I'm currently hoping to release towards the end of this month.

But...

If you'd like your first proper introduction to young Marilyn Delaney, her family, her world, and the beginnings of the journey that will eventually lead her into Shaddolands...

Go for it. 😋

After all these months of renders, rewriting, coding, changing things, changing them back again and occasionally wondering why I started this madness in the first place... it feels bloody good to finally let you play some of it.

I really hope you enjoy meeting Mal before she became Mal.
