Update 12/10/2026

Hey folks,

Time for another little update from The Shaddolands Universe.

Well, it's been another productive week working on Shaddolands – Memories, although I must admit I've spent a fair bit of it doing what I seem to do best these days... changing things I've already finished! 😂

Seriously though, progress is coming along nicely. I've been working on additional renders, refining the script and polishing the dialogue as the individual scenes begin to come together into something that feels like a proper story.

One thing I've discovered while developing Memories is that a scene can look absolutely fine when you're working on it in isolation, but once you start putting everything together, you suddenly notice little things that could be better. Sometimes it's a line of dialogue that doesn't quite fit, sometimes it's a character's reaction, and occasionally it's an entire render that needs another look.

And, of course, one small change has a habit of leading to another!

But I'm enjoying this stage of development. It's where the characters really begin to come alive, and I'm finding that the more time I spend with young Marilyn, the more her personality starts to shine through.

Memories was always intended to explain how Marilyn became the Mal we will come to know from Shaddolands, but it's also giving me the opportunity to explore the people and experiences that helped shape her along the way.

And speaking of experiences...

This week's header takes us back aboard the Andrea, where a certain young lady is discovering that life outside the familiar surroundings of home can be rather more interesting than she ever imagined.

There's music, a little glamour, some interesting company and, naturally, the occasional complication. After all, it wouldn't be much of a Shaddolands story without a few of those, would it? 😋

I'm not going to give too much away, but I think you'll find that this particular cruise is going to leave Marilyn with rather more than a collection of holiday photographs!

For now, I'll keep working away at bringing everything together. There are still things to finish and undoubtedly a few more things I'll decide to change, but I'm pleased with how it's developing.
