Vinland Saga S01E24 - The End Of The Prologue

You only need to worry about the dude at the end you will probably NEVER see those 2 women coz MAPPA will animate literally anything else🥲🥲
agree! but is this not kind of a spoiler for what’s coming?
Rewatching these is always so great your insight and reaction made me emotional too eventhough I wasn‘t crying when I watched it myself
Fun fact: recently the mangaka(author) from the story told us via twitter, that production for season 3 has still not started. I can’t explain why; I can just assume that maybe the Japanese audience isn’t big enough for the production to feel the need go on. You have to understand that the animation is made by studio Mappa and they are making a lot of big anime names, that get the traction in Japan and outside of it (for example jujutsu kaisen and chainsaw man). That could be the reason why they chose to focus on other projects instead of Vinland saga. But still it’s just assumption of mine.
I couldn't be more excited about what's to come. Vinland Saga season 1 is a masterpiece, and one of my favourite seasons of TV ever, but Season 2 is really where the show solidifies itself as my favourite of all time. What Makoto Yukimura and the team behind the Anime have crafted is truly magical, and I cannot wait to see the headline "Vinland Saga Season 3 in production" one day. I've contemplated reading the manga possibly 200 times, but the animation and score is just too good for me to give up.
I think you're really going to enjoy season 2, especially where the story takes Thorfinn
Can’t wait to get a season review over on TikTok
Let me see if I can stop crying first
I think Askeladd's kindest act to Thorfinn was never telling him that Floki is the reason why his father was killed. He really wants him to move past this 🥲
This is so true, and i used to think it was because he wanted to use Thorfinn for as long as he could. But after another viewing, it's clear that he has always felt a responsibility toward Thorfinn after being the one to kill his father, and he knew that Thorfinn would never survive trying to kill Floki. He saw himself, his past, and an opportunity to change the future of someone just like him. Adkeladd is forever one of my favorite anti-heroes in media.
"Are you going to die? You?" Gotta be one of my favourite lines here. Like really, you Askeladd, who seemed completely undefeatable for most of my life, despite me dedicating my life to killing you?
For me, it’s the fact that he let his guard down to stop Thorfinn from getting involved, and that’s how the killing blow got dealt. That’s not something you do for someone if you don’t care about them.
For some reason i cried this time even though i didn't cry the first time i watched this episode. At the time for me, i saw it as a let down, i was identifying with thorfinn, so i was disappointed to see the work of a whole season (11 years for thorfinn) were wasted just like that. So i was more disappointed than sad. Now that i watch again knowing that i shouldn't be focusing on what thorfinn was seeking, it was just so hard, and it actually did feel like the peak of what it was climaxing to as a prologue as a whole, rather than feeling that it was building for nothing
I love rewatching these shows with you. Waiting for season 2
I’m waiting for a tiktok post about this episode and the season overall and you will come to a big challenge Which is better s1 or 2
An underrated moment is when askeladd tells thorfinn to stay back, up until that point he’s putting on the act perfectly and there’s prolly a genuine mix of rage cuz he hates Vikings but as you said this was calculated and it was an act, but he breaks the act in that moment because he doesn’t want thorfinn to get Involved. Askeladd was thorfinn as a child, while they differ in their cultural upbringings, askeladd still succumbed to vengeance and war, and in his last moments he gives thorfinn one last nudge and plead to give it all up. As bjorn said, he doesn’t just hate Vikings, he hates himself too for falling into that life the same way thorfinn did. Even though one can say thorfinn fell into it via coercion, him and askeladd still share the same blood on their hands especially when they had examples in their life to show them otherwise
Agree totally. and this specific "stay back" line Yukimura (mangaka) said Askeladd "wrote himself" - like the character felt like it came alive and said it, as he was writing it. Such a great moment.
My throat hurt so much when askeladd was dying that I genuinely thought I was going to pass out. I don’t remember being this moved by the series when I first watched it but this was so different.
My goat
Those characters at the end are characters that will be introduced in the future that important later
A 9.9 imdb episode right there
