So the Vinland Sagas are very real historical (although we don't know how accurate they are!) Icelandic texts — they're some of the best accounts we have of the viking discovery of America. Whilst the Vinland Saga manga does lift from the original sagas, it's not a like-for-like adaptation or anything like that! And yes, the Vikings had a presence in England right up until 1066! One of the key factors that influenced the battle of Hastings was that the Normans invaded almost the exact same time as the Vikings' last invasion, so Harold Godwinson had to fight off both!

In the dub Thor's says something like, "nobody in this entire world deserves to get hurt" and even 6 years later that line always rings in my head. Even through small moments of frustration when I feel myself wanting to lash out and yell at someone I always hear that line and it makes me pause. And yet its not even in the sense that im forcing myself to calm down, that one line just so naturally makes me sit and ponder on its weight.

Imma put it out there, and I already left a comment sort of mentioning this so I won’t do that again. These two shows are both among my top 25 shows of all time, they are both great. That being said I do not see why you would jump from one to another. It might work for you and I hope it does. Because if in any way it takes away from the experience of fully immersing yourself in the themes and stories of the shows then I hope you wouldn’t feel the pressure of satisfying our want to see you react to both rather than enjoying one after another. That being said, can’t wait for more

You mentioned that the animes you watched all played in japan but attack on titan actually is very much inspired by Germany almost every name is german and the structure and design of Paradis is based of Nördlingen. I know it‘s not really based in Germany but there is many parallels

you'll find that certain characters have monikers such as 'thors the troll', in this case its based on his almost superhuman strength. other characters may have names like this too, based on ability, appearance or whatever sticks out to the people around them. this is also an aspect of viking history, an example from real life would be 'leif the lucky'

FYI, this anime is inspired by real people. Thorfinn, Thorkell and even Leif are real people😂

ps if you're looking for good tt clips, that no enemies scene is a good one. One of the 3 famous scenes of the show.

The tall guy in the first episode is called Thorkell, they did make reference to Floki in the battle though so that might be where he sounds familiar, Thors asked Thorkell to bring Floki's unit up to advance or something. And yes, you were right in assuming this was the Norway Campaign that Floki mentioned. Wendeland is not England, there will be plenty of maps to help as you go but there's also a lot of random kingdoms being referred to here, you don't need an in depth knowledge at all to understand the story, but looking into the names can pad the story a lot.
