Doing Things For Fun | The Eralia Show 馃尶

I think the always connected mentality and the constant posting and filming everywhere is narcissistic. I think a lot of Instagram creators are just narcissists being fed. It also fills a gap for the people that watch, but can be mentally harmful to them and can set unrealistic expectations for them. Many creators get people that are obsessed with them and get in their mind that they鈥檙e actual friends. I like your content because it is genuine and has substance. In many cases it carries a bit of nostalgia as well.
I wasn't going to reply because I knew it'd be messy. This video's been stuck in my head since I saw it so, 2 days later, my watching-along reply- Whimsy! I need to work on that myself. "My shoes are too tight, and I have forgotten how to dance." (Babylon 5). Though I can do silly when the mood takes me. My favorite recent memory of that is when I came out of the shower with a towel in my crack parading around & screeching like a peacock for my husband because he'd had A Day running the store. It's hard to do things just for fun when we live at home & I'm pretty unemployable. I lose track of time playing dress-up dollies in WoW, yet I will admit to the monetization thoughts creeping in "would people pay me to make WoW outfits for them? could that be a thing? how would that even work?" weed money would be nice (silent Tourette's & more). My husband wants to make sure that I know I'm worth spending money on (dad was a less fun Fred Mertz). He says I do better when I'm not trying to work, and he's right 85%+ of the time so I'm trying to balance that out. Last thing I've done for fun is to do chess.com's app free solo content, though it started as a "stretch your brain" activity. I've managed to do 111 days since starting to learn as an adult (streak verification- https://www.chess.com/member/sundustdappleddreams) & I might be brave enough to play people soon! I am shocked at myself, even though I can't yet plan moves in advance. I never feel like sharing stuff in person anymore. I don't know what happens, but whenever I talk about something it goes away. I fully expect chess fun to go away now that I've talked about it. Also I seem to emit a "don't understand me" garble field where my intentions or points get misunderstood. It's better in writing though so I am starting to try reaching out to people again, sorry you're among the first and getting my C- stuff. It's still a vast improvement and also a work in process so thank you for your patience. I have a youtube channel but it's mostly so my husband has stuff if I die in a car wreck (knock on wood). Morbid, but he's lost a fair few people. I wasn't really trained for fun growing up. Birthday presents were mostly unopenable collectables or bank deposits into the college fund. Hobbies were all meant to be on a college application. My husband keeps pushing for me to find things to enjoy, which kind of turns it into a chore in and of itself. A love of stories and a flair for aesthetics are the only things that have stuck through with me through my 40+ years of sapience. 4-5 why 's deep is a good system to have set up :) I tried reading Way of Kings. Don't remember why I didn't keep at it, not my jam or not my headspace. Sanderson's good though glad you like it I have definitely gone "too far in that direction" in my cave and was interested in your thought train derailment. Private! :) People mostly confuse play for rest and don't see much benefit from their time off. I try "work hard, play hard, rest/recover hard". I'm totally nailing it! Except for the ratio XD but seriously I have done things that I thought were impossible for me, my inner child is f*cking boggled. Glad you're staying young. Thor Love & Thunder is a rough watch for a lot of us because we remember when comics were dismissed as a silly stupid thing for kids/beat up, and the movie felt like 10 !giant! steps back. Life if you watched a movie about women in the military and they won by fainting on the enemy and smothering them or freebleeding them to death. 'Just a movie' 'get a life' sure okay it's just with all the other "worst timeline" events irl I'd really rather no backsliding to the bad old days of disrespect & dismissal. One of my 'pillars' is to enjoy things more, which only started recently from watching movie reactors. It is slow going. You're emotionally regular because your family didn't completely suck and you're physically healthy. Hug your parents you lucky bish :) I love fall too! Cozy weather ftw You are the hype :D thank you for whatever you choose to share
hello eralia, love your content, I am requesting you please watch the movie My Girl from 1991. Thank you.
Great Video.
Personally, I think it is absolutely necessary to keep some of that for yourself. Not even just for fun. If you share everything with everyone, what's left to share that is special? One day, that will indeed matter. As for me, I've spent a lot of my life trying to make others happy. It can definitely be exhausting. So, now I try to make me happy as well. I write. I create things. I play games. I get entirely too invested in whatever random thing has caught my attention that week. Sometimes I disappear into music, a story, or an idea for a while. Not because it needs to become something. Not because somebody else needs to see it. Just because I enjoy it. And as for what I鈥檇 do if nobody clapped? To quote a line from my favorite movie; "I already did it." I wrote a book. I published it. Nobody clapped. That's tough, but not the end. I found inspiration, and I kept writing. There's an uplifting feeling when you realize you still want to do the thing despite the applause never coming. No audience. No validation. Yet, still you yearn. That's powerful. That doesn鈥檛 mean I don鈥檛 want people to read what I write, laugh at something I made, or care about something I poured myself into. I absolutely do. Sharing something with people can be part of what makes it meaningful. I just don鈥檛 want the applause to decide whether it was worth doing. There鈥檚 a freedom in that, I think. To create because you want to. To share because you want to. And if nobody claps? Who cares? Keep going.
this is a great outlook! congrats on the book! :)
One of my few memories of doing something just for the joy that was new to me was playing ice hockey. First I had to learn how to skate, the I started going to hockey clinics and playing scrimmages and that lead to okaying in a league with a group of guys I met through the hockey clinics. Incredibly fun and lots of new friendships. The clinics were after normal operating hours so we did not start until around 12:30am and we would go until 2:30am 1-2x a week. This is going back to my younger days in my 20鈥檚 during the early 90鈥檚.
Success isn't always about the money, it is more about how what you are doing makes you feel about what you are doing with your life. You are a high energy person and people have trouble keeping pace with you IRL so you look for people constantly who can understand you better NOT for validation but for company. You are sometimes so busy that you get turned around a bit like today you posted your reaction/playthrough on "Resident Evil" on youtube before posting it here. I am NOT complaining I just noticed and figure that you being busy are pushing yourself a bit hard. I am at present re-engineering two e-bikes one a three wheeler and the other a two wheeler fat tire both of which started and regular bikes and have been having issues. I also follow a number of subjects online and read everyday. I wish I could still run but my knees are shot to hell. As for your short content that you are troubled sharing make it anyway and use it for your personal diary and get a pair of high capacity external hard drives to back up everything in duplicate so if one fails you can always be sure you have it and can buy and back up another.
thanks for the comment :) i actually don鈥檛 post gaming content on patreon usually!
One thing that I used to do was drumming. I had to sell my kit because of personal issues but I adore music. It鈥檚 my thing. It helps me clear my head. I haven鈥檛 had a drum set in about 7 years now and I need it back. I can鈥檛 clear my head and can鈥檛 balance myself.
Thank you for opening up to us. One of the things I value most about teaching myself art before the internet was a thing, is the idea of failure as being critical for growth. You can鈥檛 learn from doing things perfect out of the box. To grow you must fail but it鈥檚 best to fail early and often your growth accelerates.
