Good stuff, my personal favourite of the first three films. Patrick Stewart & Ian Mckellen crush every scene they speak in. Brian Cox was a great addition as Stryker to an already stacked cast. Also yes, that actress in the toilet with the guard was Mystique's actress, Rebecca Romijn. Now I say this as someone who enjoys your content, which is funny and insightful. I hate how much you google during the film, and how much attention you give your (very cute) cat. Both distract you horribly, sometimes for entire scenes, and in my opinion the reaction suffers for it. Also not a fan of you mocking Scott's reaction to Jean's death on the plane, just seems unnecessary to me. Apologies for the negativity, it's intended to be constructive rather than mean. Looking forward to you watching the next one: The Adventures of Jean the Grey Dolphin!
Rewatching this movie, I do wonder… why couldn’t Jean do what she did from inside the Jet? 🤷🏻♂️
Wait, I’m confused about the search you did from 01:03:43 - 01:04:30. Because the actor who played Nightcrawler in the X2 film is Alan Cumming, who is very much still alive and returning for Avengers: Doomsday this year as Nightcrawler, so what did you find? 😅
… okay, now I think I know what happened. You looked up REAL LIFE Kurt Wagner, not FICTIONAL MARVEL COMIC BOOK CHARACTER Kurt Wagner. I was so fucking confused lol 😂
Possibly my favorite X-Men movie of all time!!!
If ya wanna fall down a RABBIT HOLE of a game Monster Hunter is one to fall into, it's a CAPCOM game which goes back to early 2000s
I can't believe nobody is commenting on all the googling during these movies. Seems like a risky thing. Especially now, with Doomsday approaching, there's a lot of news and rumours going around.
Another X-Men movie down! I have to say, and this might be a hot take, but I think the next one is actually my favourite of the original trilogy. I'm really looking forward to seeing your reaction to it and continuing down this X-Men rabbit hole. There's still so much to explore in both the X-Men and MCU universes, so plenty more exciting movies ahead. Looking forward to the next one!
Hugh Jackman is to X-Men (20th Century Fox) what Robert Downey Jr. is to the MCU (Marvel Studios, NOT "Marvel") movies. Ryan Reynolds picks up the Deapool series (Fox/Marvel) and develops a personal friendship with Hugh Jackman since their characters are very intertwined in the comics and in the Wolverine origin movie. This is also why Ryan is constantly referencing Hugh in his DP movies (Remember DP's opening line on the bridge?) Deadpool starts under Fox so it dips into the X-Men history. Once Disney buys both the Marvel Studios and Fox, that's when DP3 comes out. So all roads lead to Deadpool 3. Sony bought Spiderman a long time ago, so the MCU had to fight with them a bit to get him in the MCU movies. Fred Savage actually mentions this in DP2/"Once upon a Deadpool".
Random question: But why is it always the intellectually … exceptional that love Taco Bell? 😂 Those who’ve watched the Boys know what I’m talking about.
Yes that was Rebecca Roman who is playing mystique
In the original ones yes but later was replaced by Jennifer Lawrence though Rebecca Romain is supposed to be returning to the role...
Eralia when u get to the next xmen film their is a post credit scene.
Wow I barely even remembered this movie. 23 years old now what happened
Y'all, just for fun, I went back this week and watched Eralia's TLOU playthroughs from a million years ago... That stuff was HILARIOUS!!! Her commentary is great, but she trolled fans SO hard! The general feeling was this: "Stealth? What's that?" "Reloading? What's that?" "HUD? What's that?" "Learning controls is 100% optional!" "I'm not crying ANYMORE for this game!.... *5min later* NOOOO!!!!! 😭😭😭" (this happened MULTIPLE times) "Oh I hope they get together! Ooo, are they gonna hookup? OH, are *they* gonna hookup? Ooo, are they gonna hookup? Oh I hope they hookup...." I am not complaining at ALL, I LOVED every minute! Everyone should go watch on YT!
Hey E. Firstly, love the bandana look. 🥰😉😅 On a more work-related note, here's to part 3 down the line and while you might wanna keep a mini pack of tissues on standby just in case, get ready for one of the best Marvel portrayals with Kelsey Grammer's Beast. 🤓💙😅 Frasier Crane is gonna be all blue and fuzzy like Kurt Wagner aka Nightcrawler yet tough and fierce like the titular Beast that he is. Sidenote: it helps to think of the dynamic between Professor X and Magneto like the one between MLK and Malcolm X but with a Lot more "Pryde" undertones and the one between Jean/Logan/Scott as a subtle throuple 😉🏳️🌈❤️😅✌️ Fun Fact: Nightcrawler's Alan Cumming was a variant of Loki in The Mask Universe with Jim Carrey who's director, Chuck Russell actually passed last night so RIP 🙏😅
X2 is one of those classic masterpieces
"X2 - The Xmen-ing", I think they really missed a huge opportunity with that title.
Where is that, it's beautiful I want to visit. That there is in my hometown. It's Hatley Castle in Victoria, BC Canada. It is indeed lovely!
how did she figure out jean became a dolphin.......crazy
Hey yo, I do not remember so many Mystique scenes... That scene where Erik breaks out of the plastic prison was pretty cool tho.
I guess my question is....are you perched in a theatre next Friday for Spider-Man? Cause I am
using AN before words that start with an H is a southern/british theatrical thing because it sounds better than A HISTORICAL, which makes you sound like a red neck
A bit of Stan Lee trivia for you Eralia.... Stan Lee started out in New York with "Timely Comics" (later Marvel) and wrote filler for the Captain America comic books in the early 1940s then during and after WW2 worked in Hollywood Ca with the studios doing training films for the army and received a contract with the Bob's Big Boy hamburger chain to do the "Adventures of Big Boy" comic book in the mid 1950s then after that relocated back to New York where he went back to work with Timely/Marvel comics. Later he went back to California where he worked on Marvel Studios projects until his death. This is a very brief history but explains why so much of the action was based in New York.
Mythos actor swoon, amirite anyone? ./dreamy sigh
Marvel comics is/?/was HQ'd in NYC, that's part of why everything is there.
Well Stan Lee grew up in New York as well so there's that.
We've come along way with Marvel making their own theatrical releases rather than just licensing it out (Sony/Fox) but for the time this was really good (still not bad and they only get better for the most part :-) ) Marvel just seems to have a special magic when in the way they put their movies together when they are doing it themselves. I'm hoping Marvel does a proper X-Men movie in the MCU (I guess technically Deadpool is now in the MCU and it's good. and is now technically cannon but effectively anomalous). I love how they have Halle Berry as Storm, as well as the other a-list actors (Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and there are probably others I missed)
I love reliving this journey through your virgin eyes
The X-Men have often been interpreted as a metaphor for marginalized minorities, especially during the civil rights era in the United States. Mutants are feared, discriminated against, and excluded because they are born different, reflecting the experiences of many minority groups facing racism, prejudice, and social exclusion. Two of the series' main leaders are frequently compared to major civil rights figures, Professor Charles Xavier is often associated with Martin Luther King Jr. because he believes in peaceful coexistence between mutants and humans through dialogue, education, and nonviolent activism. Magneto is often compared to Malcolm X because, after experiencing persecution and violence, he argues that mutants must defend themselves and prioritize their own survival, even if it means using force. While these parallels are widely discussed, they are symbolic rather than exact. The X-Men were not written as direct representations of specific historical figures, but the stories explore themes of discrimination, identity, fear of difference, civil rights, and the struggle for equality that resonate with the experiences of many minority communities.
I already posted about it on the first Xmen movie.
Funny thing about the wolf/wolverine mistake, Hugh Jackman who is Australian didn't know either that a wolverine was a real animal, and tried to play the character first as wolflike.
I don't know if Eralia fully understood how many comicbook movies she signed up for when she started this journey. I just hope she doesn't burn herself out on the genre. I know people are excited but we watched these movies over the course of about 20 years and people still felt the fatigue.
It's especially tricky when she draws in viewers who are of the "all the movies need to be watched" persuasion. The industry would have fallen apart very early on if none of the movies could hold up on their own without everyone doing their homework. (Though as time goes on, they do seem to make more movies that assume people are up to speed.)
very excited for the later X-Men movies! I also forgot to mention on your last x-men movie you should consider watching the unrated cut for the wolverine movie when you get to it (the second movie in his trilogy). Wolverine movies just feel more right when their violence isn't censored for general audiences.
Love your approach of "I watch what I feel like, and when I think I miss something I just go back". Honestly exactly how anyone would do it. No need to overcomplicate things with "Must-watchs", "Skip-these" and over precise orders. Have fun tumbling, if we want to keep the analogy. Like your hair-scarf, if thats what its called.
Yay! This is my favorite X-Men movie. Trivia: When the 20th Century Fox logo fades, the last thing to vanish is the letter "X."
Really this one? Why? I mean, don't get me wrong, it's good, but The Days of Future Past Rogue cut is so fantastic. Everyone gets a moment to shine, and.... well there are many other things that I love about that movie, but it's hard to get into it without spoiling stuff. Trivia: Two of the x-men movies change the marvel flipping comics into specifically X-Men comics rather than the usual various comics flipping that are in the intros of the other marvel movies of the time
🐈🐈⬛️😱😍🤗
Don’t forget to watch Black Widow (2021).
And the Hawkeye miniseries....
Noice! Once you get done with the x-men & Logan movies, it will be a good time to start watching the Deadpool movies again. Edit: also, with all your new knowledge of characters & lore, you might want to do a quick re-watch of the first Deadpool to get references you might've missed.
Yeah, if you have already seen Deadpool 2, you should watch the Super Duper Cut this time, or if you haven't, you should watch it anyway because it's fun.
