35:04 the keyboard sound tho! I want one lol
When you realize that Toad was Darth Maul in one universe, Magneto was Gandalf the Grey/White in another, and Sabretooth was a variant of Michael Myers himself. 🤓🤯🤣 Spider-Man while not an X-Men is still technically a mutant and NGL, a Batman react would honestly be as magical as Father Loki himself. 🙏🤓😅 Thanks for all the content within the past few days E and continue to keep safe over there! Good luck with the marathon BTW! ❤️
Think of everything Xmen as its own universe. Separate from what you know. Justt follow the order. This trilogy, You dont "NEED" to see Xmen Wolverine, its filler. Then tthe xmen first class trilogy. Then days of futture past. Then logan(tissues) Maybe blade, maybe old school daredevil movie, then deadpool
DP2 AND DP3...
The first reaction movie I saw you in was John Wick. Eventually, hopefully you get back to the series and see Storm (Halle Berry) again in Wick 3.
Could you try to google stuff less? I'm sure 90% of the audience would appreciate if you focused on the movie and left all the googling for after
Yay! Your reactions are so much fun! Given how much you enjoyed this one, you would probably like all of the X-Men movies. They're fun, and they have a different vibe from Spider-Man and the MCU. If you are mainly trying to prepare for Deadpool & Wolverine (which is in MCU Phase 5), then I think you can get away with X2, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Logan, and Deadpool 2. For wider context and some solid movies, I would add X-Men: The Last Stand to round out the first trilogy, X-Men: First Class for an intro to the prequels, and X-Men: Days of Future Past for the crossover. If you like the prequels, there are two more, and if you like Wolverine, he's got one more solo movie.
IMO, Logan is the big one to get to for X-Men. So, id recommend this. If your looking to cut some films. - xmen 1, 2, & 3. - X-Men origins wolverine - first class & days of future past - then Logan Xmen Apocalypse had a really good performance by Fassbender. And live action Psylock, but that's not necessary for Deadpool 3. I'd also recommend at least the fantastic 4 (2005). Before DP3.
I cannot wait till you watch Logan
You gotta watch First Class to understand the beef between those two loaves.
It's Marvel, but produced by Fox. It's like if The Beatles were produced by Nickelback- ...yeah it's music, but it sucks. E, the short version is, before the MCU, Marvel was almost broke in the late '70's, early 80's. So to stay solvent, they licensed a bunch of their IP to companies like 20th Century. And the deal was the license auto-cancelled if the IP wasn't used for 7 years. THAT'S why there are so many Spider-Man reboots! Whenever Sony/20th Century's license was about to expire, they crap out a Spider-Man or a Fantastic Four movie to stop that from happening. Thank you for coming to my TEDtalk. 😅
Sony got Spider-Man Fox got X-Men, Fantastic Four Universal got Hulk but only in Solo films, Disney can use him in group films like The Avengers.
Did you know that Magneto is Wanda's dad? yes WandaVision's Wanda
And her brother Pietro (aka Quicksilver)
As some others have mentioned, the X-Men were a Fox film property for a while. There's a lot of history in the Marvel properties regarding the films and film rights. Long story short, Marvel has almost entirely reabsorbed control of all their previously sold properties thanks to Disney owning everything. It's given the MCU a lot of freedom in doing whatever they want, even with all the actors and characters they previously didn't have control over.
this is not marvel related but have you ever watched band of brothers? One of my favorite miniseries to watch.
If you plan to do all of them, Christian's got the right order. If not... then after this one, do X2. X-Men: the Last Stand is... honestly, skippable. X-Men Origins: Wolverine... just watch sometime before Deadpool 2. First Class and Days of Future Past - Rogue Cut (and DoFP will answer a question you had during WandaVision). The Wolverine is fun, but missing it won't leave you confused. Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix are weaker material. Logan is absolutely a must before Deadpool 3.
X-men came out in 1963 as an allegory for the struggle of Civil Rights and actually was canceled in 1970 due to low sales. It was revived in 1975, aaaaaand now we're here. I learned virtually everything about Civil Rights from spending my tween and teen years in AL, and have visited the Civil Rights museum numerous times. I even attended a lecture from one of Dr. Kings' T.A.s. Did you know Dr. Kings favorite food was hot dogs WITHOUT the bun? There, now you learned something today. 😉
Sorry did not realize the spoilers
Welcome to X-Men! Yep, X-Men is Marvel. In the comics there's plenty of crossover between the Avengers and the X-Men, but in the movies they were split for a long time because different studios owned the film rights. That's why the older X-Men and Spider-Man movies feel separate from the MCU. Now that those rights are back under Marvel Studios, we're finally starting to see those worlds collide. Since it sounds like you're diving headfirst into the X-Men rabbit hole, here's the watch order I'd recommend: X-Men (2000) ✅ X2: X-Men United X-Men: The Last Stand (Original trilogy complete.) X-Men Origins: Wolverine X-Men: First Class The Wolverine X-Men: Days of Future Past X-Men: Apocalypse Deadpool ✅ (woops 🤣) Deadpool 2 Logan X-Men: Dark Phoenix Blade Elektra Deadpool & Wolverine There are a few different watch orders floating around online, but this is the one I'd personally recommend. It keeps the story flowing pretty naturally while saving some of the bigger emotional payoffs until the right time. Also, I completely agree with your take on movie enjoyment. Sometimes people get so caught up picking films apart that they forget to just... enjoy them. If a movie has fun action, decent pacing and tells an entertaining story, I'm probably going to have a good time. Not every movie has to be a masterpiece to be worth watching. Looking forward to seeing where you go next! Also really curious what music rabbit hole you end up diving into after this.
If you thing Hugh Jackman is jacked in this you're gonna be shocked when you eventually see him in Deadpool and Wolverine. If people call him Hugh Jacked Man for a reason DP and wolverine is the prime example. I was like 12 when this first X Men film came out and Mystique probably did a number on me. Not to mention Captian Kirk and Green skinned Orion women. and then there is She Hulk who is also green but also really tall... Anyway trailing off.
Honestly, X2 and X-Men first class and X-Men days of futures past are all that you really need to concentrate on.
So very cool to get to see your first encounters with this franchise back when Fox owned X-men! Your delight and discovery really enhance revisiting this film for me. I had already been through my wreck and early recovery when this came out. First saw it in a drive-in with my Dad and brother, as there was no way to get into most local theaters that was convenient for my family. I was 25 then, so close to your age now.
Your Hugh Jackman awakening is going to be glorious to watch
Stop telling me you haven't seen Batman it hurts my soul
I hope she starts with Batman: the Animated Series. Paul Dini / Bruce Timm g.o.a.t.
Nice tatoos btw!
X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, X-Men: First Class, The Wolverine, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Deadpool, X-Men: Apocalypse, Logan, Deadpool 2, Dark Phoenix, The New Mutants, Deadpool & Wolverine
Eralia the release order of the xmen movies are: Xmen X2 Xmen united Xmen the last stand Xmen origins wolverine Xmen first class The wolverine Xmen days of futures past (rogue cut) Deadpool Xmen apocalypse Logan Deadpool 2 Xmen dark phoenix Deadpool and wolverine
I enjoyed the reaction generally but you missed so many scenes, entire minutes in some cases, while googling actors and details. You'll run into spoilers eventually if you keep doing that. Aside from that, looking forward to your X-Men journey, People love Hugh Jackman's Wolverine to this day. There's a lot of heart in these films.
The reason u didnt see the xmen in the avengers films is because fox had the rights to the xmen films prior to and during the mcu with Disney. So becuase u had two different movie companies u weren't goin to see any crossover. But in 2019 Disney bought the rights to all fox properties ( the xmen and fantastic four)
He turned into a veiny member. I think that happens to a lot of teemage boys when they make out.
So cyclops power will never be explained so I will just explain it, it's a lot more dramatic than you would think. His eyes open a portal to a different dimension that's full of like evil red laser plasma and he shoots out that laser plasma from his eyes
That Doomsday trailer was super DOPE all the cyclops fans were SO HAPPY
x men started before special effects got better.
Someone else posted the list for X-Men. The great part about watching them in release order is when you get to Deadpool 2 and 3 you will be in on the jokes he tells. Breaking the fourth wall he jabs at the Fox X-Men alot, Hugh Jackman and all that. The only addition I have is that Logan is downright the best-written movie of them all. Because it's written more as a drama, and not a superhero movie. There was alot of real-world stuff happening with Fox, and the reboots and Marvel wanting to make their movies too. So you may have to google that stuff.
Wolverine had Claws before, the Metal is what was added via experiments.
Spoiler dude
24 minutes into the movie, I see that thirsty Eralia is back... and Mystique hasn't been in the movie yet 😂
Yeah, he's Toad in X-Men. He was also Darth Maul.
The X-Men film rights were owned by Fox, hence no X-Men in the MCU up until MoM (Multiverse of Madness), where Disney had bought Fox. If Disney had the character rights back in Phase 1 the MCU would be very different. The Fantastic Four are also Marvel Comics characters but again back in Phase 1 days Disney couldn't use them in the films. It's all recent very recent that all the characters are "returning home" and are able to show up in the MCU, like with Tobey and Andrew's Spidey's showing up and with all the cameos in MoM.
1:06:00 “Be water, my friend”
Also thank you for mentioning Wolverine's clinking sounds when he hits things. I forgot all about it & subtitles didn't pick it up 🙉😊
Deadpool is part of the X-Men stories, but yeah he is part of the MCU but started as Twentieth Century Fox, now part of Disney. Loved all three Deadpool movie. Deadpool and Wolverine was a total fan service movie and was great imho.
To connect to what you have seen.. This in a different universe than the rest of the MCU that you have seen thus far. When you watched Deadpool out the gate, that was in this X-Men universe (mostly.. it’s complicated) Between Loki season-2, and then Deadpool and Wolverine, that is where the Captain America & Tony Stark universe will start to connect with this X-Men universe.
Which is why, watching Deadpool as your first Marvel movie was “Crazy person behavior”, as you put it… you literally jumped almost straight to the junction point of two numerous movie & multiple decade building storylines… but we are so glad to have you here now 🙌
... if you put your mic coming from above, you could goopy goop freely. ymmv ... Toad was also Darth Maul. .... I can't wait for you to play Marvel Rivals & still only know half the playables huehuehue 😄 ... I am PERCHED waiting for X2, First Class, Days of FP, & Logan! 🤩 Apocalypse is not good but Evan Peters' bits are PEAK marvel!💖
Now that i got to watch the reaction i will say i happy you liked it, the xmen were my introduction to all things super hero. Magento really is one of the most interesting characters in all of comics. As for as movies Xmen, X2, Xmen last stand, xmen first class and xmen days of future past are the core 5 that really tell the xmen story the best and tie everything up you would need to know. Wolverine origins and logan will also be quintessential for deadpool 2 and 3 just for purely how often deadpool references those movies.
Eralia at some point please go back and watch falcon and the winter soldier black. widow. and shang chi. U skipped a chunk of movies and shows.
i recommend LotR extended editions for your first extended movie. that way, everything else will feel super short
turn the "Pika!" during Storm vs Sabertooth into a youtube short! it is soooooooo cute
My favorite scene is when Magneto shouts, "YOU! SHALL NOT! PASS! ANTI-MUTANT LEGISLATION!"
(Also, yes, that was our man Stan. I think he might have a cameo in all of them while he was alive? But don't quote me on that.)
They found Hugh doing like Broadway shows and pulled him to try out for Wolverine and the rest is history.
Started watching you wtth your Deadpool reaction and have watch countless people (myself included) try to say the "right way" to watch these movies, but the simple fact is there really is no "right" way (that doesn't also involve the egregious misuse of time travel.) Just watch what you wanna watch! (Except the Daredevil movie. Or the Elektra movie. Or early Fantastic Four. Or...)
Hugh Jackman is Australian but Logan AKA Wolverine is Canadian like Deadpool and Ryan Reynolds who is a Canadian actor. Wolverines are not wolves in fact if one Wolverine was attacked by 4 wolves I would give odds that the wolves would end up as lunch. "The wolverine (/ˈwʊlvəriːn/ WUUL-və-reen, US also /ˌwʊlvəˈriːn/ WUUL-və-REEN;[4] Gulo gulo), also called the carcajou or quickhatch (from East Cree, kwiihkwahaacheew), is the largest land-dwelling member of the family Mustelidae. It is a muscular carnivore and a solitary animal.[2] The wolverine has a reputation for ferocity and strength out of proportion to its size, with the documented ability to kill prey many times larger than itself. The wolverine is found primarily in remote reaches of the northern boreal forests and subarctic and alpine tundra of the Northern Hemisphere, with the greatest numbers in Northern Canada, the U.S. state of Alaska, the mainland Nordic countries of Europe, and throughout western Russia and Siberia. Its population has steadily declined since the 19th century owing to trapping, range reduction and habitat fragmentation. The wolverine has become essentially absent from the southern end of its range in both Europe and North America." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolverine
Since you were wondering whats the next movie, most would agree to go with the release order: X2: X-Men United (2003) X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) X-Men: First Class (2011) The Wolverine (2013) X-Men: Days of Future Past: The Rogue Cut (2014) X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) Logan (2017) After all of these movies you should be caught up and ready to watch Deadpool 2 (2018). Im so excited for the rest of these reactions, I have a feeling you will really enjoy them. Plus these two movies if you feel like rounding out the X-Men universe: Dark Phoenix (2019) The New Mutants (2020)
She should also round of the universe with at least Dark Phoenix and maybe The New Mutants. They may not be the best movies in the X-men universe by far but if she gets that far she may as well finish the universe.
The X-Men weren't ever a part of the MCU because while they are still Marvel characters, Fox owned the rights (like Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man, but Sony/Marvel made a deal for the MCU). When Disney/Marvel acquired Fox, many X-Men fans rejoiced, but as of yet mutants haven't been revealed in the main MCU Earth-616 universe (Wanda and her brother started out as mutants but were adapted to fit into the MCU). Since then we've seen mutants, like Charles Xavier in the last Doctor Strange movie. Supposedly there will be a big mutant reveal in the up coming movies.
Except for Ms. Marvel and Namor are both specifically called mutants.
For the record, there has been no timeline where Magneto is wrong. The X-Men have reset their timeline six times. We are currently on their 7th try in the comics
I can't wait to see you react to the What If? series. The animation is so good & so many different stories & characters.
A wolverine is exactly nothing like a wolf lol. It’s a badger but more of an asshole
Hugh Jackman didn't know wolverines were real either. Director who shall be shamed had to tell him Wolverine wasn't a half werewolf dude 😆
🐈🐈⬛️😱😍🤗
Well there is a movie called X-Men origins Wolverine so... you will get the story. 20th Centry Fox owned the rights to X-Men, Song owned the rights to Spider-man and Paramount owned the Rights to all the other Avengers but they are all Marvel and they are all in the same universe in the comics. Disney officially acquired Marvel Entertainment in a $4 billion deal, and bought the rights to distribute from Paramount then Disney bought 20th Century Fox recently. That is why X-Men and Avengers can now have cross overs. Disney and Sony are a complicated topic. Because three different companies owned different aspects of Marvel you will get in consistencies in the characters. For example Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are supposed to be Magneto's children. That is why the Pietro from Wandavision is actually Quicksilver from X-Men Days of Future past not the Pietro from Avengers Age of Ultron.
Let’s goooooo
I feel like eralias movie journey the past year is a story of spelunking: "Let me watch this movie ... MCU, whats that?" *Falls into the first rabbit hole* "Spiderman? Looks interesting" *falls into the next rabbit hole* and now the X-Men rabbit hole ... Love it but dont hurt yourself tumbling. Haha :D
oh she be a-tumblin'.... 😎
The journey is a bit long, but the original trilogy is X-Men (the on you just watch), X2: X-Men United and X-Men Last Stand. Then you have X-Men Origins: Wolverine (About Wolverine, who could have guess), X-Men First Class (the start of the X-Men in the 60s), The Wolverine, X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse and Logan.
She should also round of the universe with at least Dark Phoenix and maybe The New Mutants. They may not be the best movies in the X-men universe by farbut if she gets that far she may as well finish the universe.
Oh snap!!!
When you first started on the Marvel journey, I had no idea you'd still be so into it to get into the old x-men movies as well. What fun! :)
This is gonna be a great run! And yeah, once we get deeper into this try not to focus too much on the timeline. How old people should be...how many years (or decades) it's been since whatever happened, etc. That path leads to madness. 😂
The xmen definitely have some of the most resonating storyline in all of comics, that being said the movies continuity do get a bit messy so dont be afraid if something seems confusing in a later movie, they didn't have the continuity together the way the mcu does
I enjoy your reactions to these older movies that stared it all. Have you considered watching any of the Blade movies?
At least one of the Blade movies, myou can jump right into Blade trinity. And for shits and giggles, Ben Affleck's Daredevil wasn't that bad for the story it had to tell.
Welp, I know what I’m doing after work today!
Very excited for your X-men journey! I know many people find some of the movies in this universe rather hit or miss, I do hope you plan on watching all of them, as I think they all have something interesting to offer. Additionally PLEASE WATCH the Rouge Cut when you get to Days of Future Past. It is a much better and more cohesive cut that includes a main character that is basically cut from the theatrical verson for some reason.
Yes watch The Rogue Cut.
Killer. I remember hating them casting Hugh as wolverine just for comic inaccuracy. Boy was that dumb lol. I watch this more than any other comic movie. Hope you enjoyed!
I remember everyone being so thrilled for patrick Stewart and peoole just wondering who the hell is this hugh jackman guy
