Finally back on the Patreon after having to take a break, I know this is a late comment, but I just had to say, I love this movie.

Over the past 7-8 years, I've said so much about this movie, and yet, I always come away from it with something different to say. All I can think, right now, is that this is one of those rare films in which there are many characters, lines, sequences and moments that could easily steal the movie, but the actual star of the film is the storytelling. It manages to maintain this state of emotionally overwhelming you without fatiguing you. It's balancing itself on a thread as thin as a molecule, but landing massive punches directly into your soul the whole time. This is masterpiece-level filmmaking.

Edgar Mendez · June 15, 2026

Groundbreaking is the right term. The Miles Morales saga is a 3 part story. Looking forward to your reaction for Across the Spider-Verse and eventually Beyond the Spider-Verse scheduled for June 18, 2027. 😊

very funny to me that when you get to deadpool and wolverine you might end up going all the way back to 2000 again

As someone that also love animated works, I was not hyped about this at all when I first heard it was in production. Just didn't have faith in Sony Animation at the time. Then the first trailer came out and I quickly about faced. This movie, literally, changed the game when it came to animation in the West. KDH, as you mentioned that came after, was heavily influenced by the success of this film and its sequel. Sony Animation did something incredibly bold and it's paid dividends for them. Background aside, I'm so glad you enjoyed this film so much. It has easily topped my Spider-Man films since it's release. I love the sequel TONS as well, but this hits different being the first of its kind here while also balancing so well all the comic book references, call-backs, and tropes. The transition from comic page to animated film was perfectly executed.

Incidentally, "Spider-Noir", the black-and-white 1930's Spider-Man, just came out with a TV series on Amazon Prime, starring Nicolas Cage in what I think is his first TV show.

Dorran · June 8, 2026

This movie is so awesome. It will _always_ hold a special place for me, because it came at a time when I was making a big leap of faith of my own as a stepfather and husband. That might not have gone as well as I'd hoped, but still... the leap was made. I'm very excited for the second one, because a lot of the themes in that one were... rather relevant to how things were going in my life at that time as well. Either way! Onward to No Way Home! Maybe a Nicholas Cage poll? Heck, they just put out a live-action Spider-Man Noir series on Amazon Prime, starring Nicholas Cage XD ALSO! I can't help but laugh at how much you were calling out Arcane with this one, especially given that Gwen was played by Hailee Steinfeld, just like Vi!

Well I had no idea what to expect with this movie, and I was not disappointed. First time watching the animated Spider-Verse movies and wow, what a fun, stunning, and genuinely clever movie. The animation style is incredible, the humour lands constantly, and there are some surprisingly emotional moments mixed in there too. I knew I recognised the first Spider-Man's voice straight away — Chris Pine. And Spider-Noir being Nicolas Cage was absolutely perfect casting. Some voices are just impossible to miss. There were so many great comedy moments throughout: "I know you snuck out last night, Morales!" Thinking: Play dumb. "Who's Morales?" Thinking: Not that dumb. And: "That's all, folks." "Is he allowed to say that? Legally?" Both had me laughing. Really fun reaction as always. Looking forward to seeing the next Spider-Verse movie, and of course the official drop for the accidental tease of No Way Home.

Eralia, it's great that you love animated films but in case that includes anime please avoid anything produced by Studio Ghibli until you've done some research. Just like I suggested you avoid reacting to The Eagles in your music reactions, the same thing applies. They are notoriously bad with copyright striking reactor channels on YT. I know of one reactor that had to completely start over because her channel was taken down.

- Kingpin (Wilson Fisk, mostly been in the Daredevil show), is a powerful & intelligent crime lord, known for his immense size, strategic mind & ruthless control over NYC’s underworld using his vast criminal empire & wealth, to achieve his goals, often operating behind the shadows while maintaining a public image as a legit businessman. He serves as a primary antagonist for Daredevil, Spider-Man & The Punisher. - The Prowler (Aaron Davis) is a Spider-Man (Miles) villain. - Doctor Octopus (Dr. Olivia “Liv” Octavius) is a variant of Dr. Otto Octavius. - Green Goblin (Norman Osborn), a scientist just like Dr. Octopus. - Scorpion (MacDonald “Mac” Gargan) has superhuman strength, speed, reflexes, a cybernetic tail & pincers on his gloves. - Tombstone (Lonnie Lincoln), is who you wanted to know about, is a crime boss, known for his albino skin & has superhuman strength and durability.

Miles: "Can I return it if it doesn't fit?" Stan: "It always fits eventually" I believe this movie deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Akira and Ghost in the Shell - it is both an expansion and pinnacle to never be matched in art style, atmosphere, and exploration of theme.

Wild_Lee_Coyote · June 6, 2026

The Spider-Verse as well as the other Spider-Man movies (except in the MCU with Tom Holland) are Sony Picture movies. They bought the rights to Spider-Man long before the MCU universe took off with Iron Man. As part of the deal Sony has to release a Spider-Man movie every few years or the rights go back to Marvel. This is why there are some Spider-Man adjacent movies that ended up as duds like Madam Web. Across the Spider-Verse is a great sequel you will love too. The final movie in the trilogy is Beyond the Spider-Verse and that comes out in one year, June 18, 2027.

Great stuff Eralia! Uncle Aaron makes a brief appearance in Spider-man Homecoming. He was the guy that was being upsold on the Chitari weapons, ID’d by Karen as Aaron Davis, and later Peter tried ‘interrogation mode’ on in the parking garage, played by Donald Glover. “I don’t want those weapons around here either, I got a nephew who live here” and also… 🍻

When folks ask what my favorite spiderman movie is. This is contender for the #1. The Spiderverse films have soul. Which a lot of MCU films don't have. Can't wait for #3 2027.

Glad to see you made it to this point and are seeing what some of us were saying about Spider-man timeline differences. The Spider-man comics started the timeline issues back in the 1960s and 1970s coming out with so many different versions of Spider-man it was had to keep track of which was which as there was no real explanation until the "Watchers" comics started explaining it in their "What if" issues hit the market. Oh and FYI Wilson Fisk AKA Kingpin was a real Marvel villain and you will learn more about him later on. His full nickname was "The Kingpin of Crime" and he dominated the NYC criminal underworld. He was born large and strong and kept growing larger and stronger as time went on. This is all I will tell you about him so you can enjoy his appearances in the MCU....

Two things. One, this movie won a bunch of awards, including an Oscar for best animated movie for obvious reasons. Two, I know that you are super busy with your schedule and work, but when you have time and come up for air you should play the Spiderman video games. I played them and enjoyed them and got my daughter to play them and she loved them. Especially the Miles Morales game. It has a whole vibe which I think you would enjoy.

Okay, let’s do this one more time: 1) Miles Morales debuted in 2011 in the Ultimate Marvel Universe and took over the role of Spider-Man after Peter Parker died at the hands of Green Goblin. Due to his immense popularity, he was brought over to the main Marvel continuity. 2) Spider-Gwen debuted in 2014. Due to her immediate popularity, she was one of the characters to receive her own series in her own world and has been around since. 3) The movie is based off the original Spider-Verse event in the comics, however, the stories are vastly different. 4) Uncle Aaron is the reason why Miles got bit by the spider that gave him his powers and is the Prowler in the comics too, however, he was much more selfish and evil than his movie counterpart and caused his own death. Then Marvel brought him back and made him more of an Anti-Hero and he and Miles are on better terms. 5) The last Spider-Man you saw is the Spider-Man of 2099, Miguel O’Hará from Nueva York. He’s actually half man and half spider, having night vision, retractable talons, fangs, and organic webbing. Okay, that’s your tidbit of Marvel info for now. 😌

And the fact that Spider-Man Noir was so beloved by all, Nick Cage got to make a whole Amazon Prime show for it that's airing right now.

There are so many great Spider-Man actors, but Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker holds a special place in my heart. I love his rendition so much. He's tired, worn out, and so damn relatable. His thing during COVID where people contacted him to leave voicemails as Pete was so damn cute. Also, Miles was already referenced in the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies. In Homecoming, he encounters Aaron Davis (Donald Glover/Childish Gambino) and Aaron mentioned he has a nephew.

J

Need to watch The Daredevil series to learn about Kingpin

D
Darj · June 5, 2026

Awrite, so, after finishing this movie for only the second time I honestly can't decide which one I prefer. Into or Across. As always there's no beating the FIRST one, but really Across took the formula Into established and just perfected it. So I'm afraid I'm going to have to give this one only a 9.5/10. Shocking, I know.

If you've been hanging out in the discord lately, you've probably gotten quite sick of me harping on about Across the Spider-Verse and you will be rather suprised to know that as obsessed as I am with that one, I've seen INTO only once before. Time to remedy that situation. 3, 2, 1, go.

I
Ian Forbes · June 5, 2026

Eralia, if you haven’t played them, the Spider-Man games for PS5 are great, there are 3 of them: Spider-Man, Miles Morales, and Spider-Man 2. They are connected and should be played in order. And in the Miles Morales game, you can set a visual filter to play with the decreased frame rate like in this movie (though it gave me motion sickness if the filter was on for a prolonged time).

S
SquaredSpekz · June 6, 2026

Decreased frame rate, you mean?

D

"hes the kind that creates his own sticky" I'll tell you now 2 things, first is that majority of Spider people can stick to places with their bodies. second is that Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man is the ONLY ONE to make his own webs in outside media, almost every other one has their own web shooters

M
