Harry was supposed to fix his wand with the elder wand and then put the elder wand in dmbledores grave, so that when Harry dies naturally of ol age the wand would cease to have a new owner through violence and become a normal wand again. I HATE the ending of this. Also he last fight with Voldemort and Harry is wacko compared to the book. also, Slughorn was Slytherin and Worm-tail was Gryffindor. Merlin was Slytherin and was the greatest wizard arguably ever and not evil. Slytherin is for the ambitious so more will turn evil, but it doesn't just mean they're evil the same way Gryffindor doesnt mean you'll be good or brave. I get I gave a one-two person example but most slytherins arent just evil

late to watching this and I'm sure it's already been said, but you should definitely watch the Fantastic Beasts movies. They're prequels to Harry Potter and the first one is a favorite of mine. happy to have gone on this journey with you :)

Reading the books will definitely add tons of context and lore. The audiobooks are fantastic. I recommend Stephen Fry's version. Audible is also coming out with full cast versions at the moment (only 1-4 are out yet, with the last three release I over the next three months.

Just came back to say that I would totally watch you watch these a second time!!! That second time through is really cool because you notice the bits of foreshadowing more! And yes, definitely check out the 20 year anniversary! You will cry again, haha!!

It isn't the main theme bc it's titled "Hedwig's Theme" and Hedwig is no longer with us 😫

Loved your reaction. ❤️ Specially the summary about how creative people can be. Also enjoyed the fun quips including the ass-attack joke 😂

After you've had a bit of time to process everything I highly recommend checking out the 20th anniversary special, it's pretty wholesome. Then perhaps the Fantastic Beast movies. It's a new cast but still many gems in there.

Aw I subbed for this and it's a watch along instead of a reaction :(

I've learned people who care about watch alongs are people who just straight up want a cheaper copy of the movie 🤣

Wordsmith012 · February 22, 2026

Seeing everyone recommend that you read the books, I would actually suggest that, if you'd ever be interested in doing it, is doing a live action reading of the books itself. Sort of as a ASMR video. I think many people would enjoy that as well as your commentary. Just a thought. Regardless, enjoyed watching these movies with you and can't wait to see what you watch next. 😁

I personally struggle with socialising, and feeling much emotions. Being able to relive the joy and care for these characters through someone like yourself has been magical. Thank you for this. You only get to see these things for the first time once, but experiencing it through someone gets much closer <3

Are you planning on reading the books? They are quite good even for adults. They expand and explain a lot of the stuff that the movies leave hanging. By no means are they perfect and they have at least in my mind huge plot holes, but if you look past some of them, they are great. The books came out at the perfect moment for me. I was about Harry's age throughout the series. I re-read them as an adult and I know nostalgia affects me quite a bit but I still recommend them for adults as well.

Ulises Montoya · February 20, 2026

I don’t know if you’ve already seen them, but you should watch Arcane and Dune. You’d love them. Dune is one of the pioneers of science fiction and of everything related to “the chosen one,” and much of what we see nowadays in movies.

U
Ulises Montoya · February 20, 2026

Of course I recommend you rewatch the movies, but above all, that you read the books. If you loved the movies, you'll love the books even more. The movies change a lot of things (for the worse) and leave a lot out. For example, James (Harry's dad) is one of my favorite characters, and in the movies, they make him look like just a simple bully. Ginny and Ron are also much, much better in the books.

I've really enjoyed revisiting these movies with you, Eralia. It might sound mean but it's nice to see someone showing how much they care about the characters in these movies. Even if that means you might break into some ugly crying. I'm going to respectfully request that you find the time to watch Arcane on Netflix. This isn't because I want to see you cry... but you might need to limit your eye makeup if you do watch Arcane. A box of tissues would also help. Arcane is just TWO seasons 9 episode seasons and it's main story is about Two sisters. So it's a Girlpower show, but done right. I love the show and I think you will love it as well. For a fun pick, I think you'll enjoy Drew Barrymore's Whip it! As girl-power flicks go, I can't think of many that pull it off as well as Whip It. It's a cool comedy about a young woman finding roller derby as a hobby. There's some mother/daughter relationship stuff mixed in. Overall, it's a great sports movie and it's light on the tears.

Here we are. The final movie. Ever since you watched the first Harry Potter, I’ve been waiting for this moment. The buildup to this one is unreal, and honestly, this is my favourite of the entire series. The only movies I’m more excited to experience with you at this point are Infinity War and Endgame — that’s the tier we’re talking about. I have so much to say about this one, so here we go, essay incoming! 🤣 Right from the opening moments, the music hits hard. That operatic score is so powerful and immediately sets the tone for how dark and ominous the world has become — especially paired with that chilling image of the children marching. I did laugh a little when it cut to Snape and you went, “What does he have to say about all this?” and then later, after his death, “I feel like we’re missing something.” Yes. Yes we are. And what’s coming is one of the most important scenes in the entire franchise. The memory sequence is absolutely incredible. We learn so much in such a short time — Snape’s love for Lily, his past, why Dumbledore trusted him so completely, and how deep their plans around Harry really went. One thing the movies don’t explain very clearly is just how skilled Snape actually was. He was one of the greatest Occlumens (ability to close ones mind to magical intrusion) ever, which is why he was able to fool Voldemort the entire time. From the moment Lily was killed, Snape was truly on Dumbledore’s side — and Dumbledore knew it. There are so many standout moments in this movie. The Bellatrix Polyjuice scene is hilarious, especially knowing the behind-the-scenes context — Helena Bonham Carter spent time studying Emma Watson’s mannerisms so she could play Hermione playing Bellatrix. That’s genuinely what makes it work so well. And the Gringotts wand check? That wasn’t random — the goblins had been warned Bellatrix’s wand was stolen, so producing it would’ve exposed them immediately. Snape’s speech in the Great Hall is another incredible moment. Alan Rickman just commands the room. And that tiny hesitation when McGonagall steps in front of Harry? That’s intentional — he’s seen this before. A mother figure stepping in front of someone they love. Which leads perfectly into Bellatrix vs Molly. Short scene, but so satisfying. Molly deliberately plays weaker to make Bellatrix overconfident, then goes all in. The power of a mother protecting her child is a recurring theme for a reason. Also, honourable mention to McGonagall casting Piertotum Locomotor and casually saying she’s always wanted to use that spell. Perfect bit of levity in the middle of chaos. And yes — I was a crying mess too. There’s a lot of important lore that simply couldn’t fit into the movies, especially around Dumbledore’s past. The books fill in many gaps, and the Fantastic Beasts films add even more context. Voldemort’s Horcrux choices also make more sense there — he’s a collector. He values powerful, historically significant objects, which is why so many Horcruxes belonged to Hogwarts founders. And Nagini being the final one is especially ironic, considering she’s the same snake Harry freed in the very first movie. As for why so many people follow Voldemort — it’s fear more than loyalty. The books draw strong parallels to Nazi ideology: blood purity, supremacy, believing they’re “right.” Your jokes congratulating him for “killing a teenager” are actually pretty spot-on — there are so many memes comparing him to other big bads. When you really think about it, he’s almost… pitiful. Then there’s the King’s Cross scene. Oh boy. Fan theories galore. Dumbledore as Death, or at least master of it. The fact that he once held all three Deathly Hallows. The way he greets Harry “like an old friend,” mirroring the tale of the third Peverell brother. The lore in this universe is so deep, and I would kill for a proper founders-era prequel. One detail I only really noticed this time around is the tonal shift after Voldemort’s death. The entire movie is washed in cold, dark tones — blacks, greens, greys — but once he’s gone, the colour palette brightens. Not first-movie bright, but warm again. Golds and reds return. It’s such a subtle but beautiful way of showing hope coming back. My one real gripe is Voldemort’s death itself. In the book, he dies like a normal man. No spectacle. No magic. Just a body. It reinforces that he was never a god — just a man. The movie’s dissolving effect slightly undercuts that, for me. Such a phenomenal reaction. I cried with you through so much of this movie. Easily the best in the series, and I’m genuinely so glad I got to experience this journey alongside you. Still plenty of Marvel ahead — and I’m very curious what gap-filler movies you’ll choose between the emotional trauma still to come. (And I’ll say it again: Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Absolute banger. Guardians vibes, but fantasy.)

Kevin Bandy · February 20, 2026

am I just dumb and naive? I hated Snape the entire series until that reveal at the end. I don't get how she almost always saw Snape as good. I mean, the movies (and I assume books) portrayed him this way, purposely leading everyone to think this. Right? Or am I just the gullible one who fell for it all? lol

U
Ulises Montoya · February 20, 2026

Well, in the books it’s much clearer that Snape was quite immature and a bad person when he was young. He shared Voldemort’s ideals. In the movies, they made him seem more like a hero/martyr, when that’s not really the case.

I had taken my children to see these in theaters. My eldest is the same age as the Daniel, Emma and Rupert so for me I watched them grow up at the same time as my kids. When we watched The Goblet of Fire in theaters I could tell that a large portion of the story was left on the cutting room floor and decided to read the books. When the last book was released I stood in line in a bookstore for three hours to buy my copy at midnight on the release date. The books are definitely worth reading, but fair warning, don't bring the makeup.

Zoos don't bother me as much, as long as they're humane and are perhaps rescuing endangered species in the process. Circuses, on the other hand, f*** those torture shows. Also, the phrase "I just had a heart attack -- in my ass" needs to catch on.

I have enjoyed this series SO much. There's something really wonderful about sharing something so meaningful with someone else and being able to see it through someone else's eyes for the first time. I still cry when you cried, and still cheer when you cheered, and laugh when you laughed, all these years later. Thanks for sharing this with us. What a treat. ❤️

And we are finally done! Instead of rewatching the movies I would suggest reading the books. The books are fairly easy to read and will provide you with much more information that couldn't be put in to the movies because of normal time constraints. You almost got the Snape memory scene so wrong, but basically Snape was Lilys childhood friend and always loved and cared for Lily. And that was the secret that Snape didn't want Dumbledore to tell anyone. Snape was actually Death Eater but betrayed Voldemort because of his desire to target Potters because of the prophecy. Part of it was because Snape didn't want anything to happen to Lily because he loved and cared for her, even though they didn't have anything romantic going on. Snape having the same Patronus as Lily was just sign of how much he cared for her. Patronus comes from your happiest memories (Harrys was same as his father because how happy he felt knowing about his parents) and Snapes happiest memories were from his childhood with Lily.

I really hope you're planning to watch the Return to Hogwarts 20th anniversary special with us. After watching your reactions, I 100% know you'll love it and cry (including that just so you're prepared), and many reaction channels include it because it's just that good and the perfect way to end the series. I know, it's my third post about it, but please just trust me, it's amazing (I personally consider it the 9th Harry Potter movie, but that's just my opinion lol). Love your reactions, fan for life from one Star Citizen to another lol. <3

The books go way more in depth with the flashback memories but that can be said for the entire series. Now that you've seen the movies I highly recommend diving into the books, the content is so much more in depth and explains a lot of your questions you've had through out the series.

To me, I remember this theatre experience like it was yesterday. I was 13 and was a fan of the movies. I had never seen any of them in theatres, but my mom just wanted me to see at least one. I remember it was the first time in a movie theatre where people cheered when stuff happened. It was such a thing to witness. The energy in the room was crazy. Something I only felt later in life with Marvel movies and such.
