Yes, Ant-Man is one of the sillier, more light-hearted characters in the MCU, but one of the things that I appreciate the most about him is that his core guiding motivation is Cassie. The degree to which he cares about his daughter is... wonderful. And, yes, Scott has a role to play going forward. Hell... _everyone_ does. But you'll see. I'm very excited as we get into Phase 3!

Crossposting from the other one as this one should be getting more traffic: Oh yeah, the Paul Rudd movies are one of the funnest of them all. They have this air of whimsy to them that doesn't get too cringe or in the way of the stakes at hand. Sometimes injecting too much humour to defuse a situation can be antethetical, but with the ant man movies it just works. They nail the chemistry between the characters and it doesn't get old. Another thing I want to commend these movies is the representation of the small world, it's done so well with the shallow depth of field and the angles, even all the materials have to be completely different because light behaves differently at such small scales and at this point CGI had gotten to a place where they can recreate the entire world photorealistically without a flaw. As an introduction to the ant man character I think they also struck a really good balance between a drawn out origin story with new people and places and introducing new stakes and threats while tying it all back to SHIELD and HYDRA, because of course those two were involved. At this point I'm wondering just how expansive and filled out the entire picture of the MCU was in Kevin Feige's head before they shot the first Iron Man scene. Was this (and well into the future, cause we're in what phase SIX now) all planned out beforehand or do they have a team of writer savants employed that just know how to tie things together and keep it all logical and interesting? See you in phase 3!

The nice thing about the step-dad, he really does care about Cassie and comes to understand Scott. It's a really nice parental unit after the deserved scrutiny they started the movie off with. They do go into it more with the sequel, but it really is a healthy situation they all have

I like reactions of movies/show I know very well, to get at least a sense of seeing it for the first time again and the usual seeing how much other people enjoy these great stories.

I thought the movie audio was a perfect way to link my movie. I just muted my movie. Wow, I can't believe how fast this is going. I know it's best that you to suffer the Marvel Contant after Endgame and the Potter Movies, as a go-between which have been amazing as well, won't last forever. Any idea on the next move for Movie Night go betweens? I'd like you to visit Netflix's Arcane. I know it's a show and not a movie. Hear me out. It's only 18 episodes less than an hour each. They are best watched in groups of 3. So it would be close to watching a 2.5-hour movie (if you do the chapters)....6 times. That sounds like a great go between movie to me. Then maybe you can skip over to Daniel Graig's Bond movies. He's got 5 of those. I like the group stuff. (That's what she said.) I know you started the dino movies and it was fun but they are on a Fast and to Furiously-bad drop as they go on. Arcane is a better watch and most of Bond is a better watch. This Arcane request isn't because I like to see you ugly cry during the watch-alongs. Even if I think it's cute at times. I do need to warn that a box of tissues and maybe a really big glass of wine, in your case, may be needed to watch Arcane. Oh, there will be Eralia tears. I have the emotional range of a teaspoon and I welled up more than I'll admit. Just my thoughts. Seeya for Civil War.

Really enjoyed this reaction. Ant-Man always feels like a bit of a breather in the MCU - lighter stakes, smaller scale - but still a lot of fun. It doesn’t hit quite as hard as some of the films around it, but it does a great job setting up a character who ends up being far more important than you’d expect. Fun watch, great reactions as always.

Love Ant-Man so much! If I'm being real, I don't think it's technically one of the best MCU movies and honestly the mechanics of the shrinking are wild even in a universe with magic and all that but it's one of my favorites personally. Super fun and full of heart. I appreciate your reaction!

You are sooooo right about the online dating scene. This goes for both men AND women. As someone who has never engaged in online dating, I have to live that life vicariously through my friends. My bestie, a lady, was telling me a few months ago that multiple guys have suggested going to the grocery store as a first date!!!!! WHAT!? She says it's apparently a thing!!!!! My stupid, little brain was thinking, "Oh, he must want to go and pick out snacks with your input, and then have a picnic". She's like, "Yeah, no, that would actually be kind of cute, but we literally just walked around the grocery store and talked". ???????? I was laughing so hard at the sheer stupidity of that, but it's simultaneously depressing to me that these are the GOOD stories! The bad stories are so, so bad.
