I've watched this movie so many flippin times. Each time that I see this opening scene it affects me differently. My mom died less than two years ago and it breaks my heart thinking about it. So - yup, heartbreaking beginning... but then awesome as fuck continuation from that point! xD lmao - I know this is your first time watching this - but I'm sorta shocked that you're in the dark with this one here. Just got finished watching this and wow, it was so much fun! :) I love going back and rewatching this content and doing so with a fresh reaction makes it even more fun. Thank you for the entertainment! :D

God I love your reactions so much. It was an absolute joy to watch my personal favorite Marvel movie with you. Honestly, the emotion you bring and show in your reactions is unparalleled and I appreciate it so much. I look forward to every reaction you release, and I'm so excited to keep watching your Marvel journey. I really hope we all get to see you watch the entire Infinity Saga! Much love from California

They tell you to watch Marvel, they don't tell you your going to cry over a tree. I love this movie and I'm glad you loved it so much. Also, I would love a Footloose reaction.

I'm so glad you're watching the Guardians Trilogy. If you liked this one you will positively love 2 and 3. Please do react to the Christmas Special immediately before GOTG 3 when you come to it...😍 I watched all Marvel movies until "Avengers: Endgame" in cinema, but the Guardians trilogy and the Spiderman movies are the only ones I want to re-watch.

I was waiting for this reaction from the moment you started the MCU. Rag Tag group of Space Ninjas and Nerds get together to guard the galaxy! How could you not love this movie? One of the best MCU Franchises. James Gunn has very specific sense of humor that's prevalent in all his films. I'm warning you now, even though chronologically it's like at the far end of most of the MCU films and shows, when you do finally get to it, bring the tissues and electrolytes, otherwise Guardians 3 will have you severely dehydrated! Thanks again for a great reaction. I only reacted to the YouTube version thus far, so I'll put out new Eralia-isms once I get a chance to react to this full reaction.

Russ Tan · December 27, 2025

I was lucky enough to see a test screening of this back in spring of 2014 with unfinished VFX. I walked out of there with the biggest smile on my face knowing that this movie was going to be a massive hit with the fans despite it being about a relatively unknown group of heroes. There was so much love and care that went into this trilogy. You're going to love all 3 (and the Christmas special).

J
Js_mor05 · December 27, 2025

If you like this movie, the next two are going to make you love this characters even more, volume 2 explores deeply in all the characters presented in this movie and makes them even more human and easy to relate to. And volume 3.... MAN that movie is like going to therapy, is a beautiful story about facing your past and forgive yourself. The best trilogy in the MCU ❤️.

Another great reaction. This one hits hard emotionally right out of the gate, then immediately pivots into something much lighter, which is such a Guardians trademark. Side note: no need to ever apologise for reacting emotionally. That openness is a big part of what makes your reactions work so well. This movie also feels like a real tonal shift for the MCU. The earlier films all had humour, but they were still centred on highly capable, mostly heroic people—flawed, sure, but very much “top of their game.” Guardians throws that out the window. Instead, we get a bunch of socially inept criminals with mostly selfish motivations, barely holding it together, somehow saving the galaxy. It’s kind of like Avengers, but with idiots—and that’s very much a compliment. It’s hard to call it a straight-up favourite because it’s doing something so different. Iron Man is iconic because it sets everything in motion, Avengers was a once-in-a-lifetime cinema experience seeing all those characters come together for the first time, and Guardians is just… its own thing. Apples and oranges, all excellent for different reasons. Also, the soundtrack absolutely slaps, and the next two Guardians films keep that tradition going. That line near the end - “We are Groot” - still lands every single time. Random side note: watching this, I kept being reminded of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. If it’s not already on your list, it’s well worth it. Different setting, but a very similar chaotic, found-family vibe.

Nice watch. Thank you, Eralia. Now you said Blade towards the end. I think the first Blade could be a nice movie to throw in at some point. Either way, I'm still getting a lot of enjoyment from your watch-alongs.

#MaxwellDidNothingWrong · December 26, 2025

On it's own Guardians of the Galaxy is a great movie. But I think what really elevates it is that we all needed a palette cleanser after the seriousness of the last few movies. It was the right kind of movie at the right time.

10/10 CHRISTMAS GIFT

J
Jay Adams · December 26, 2025

I love watching these movies again with you. There's so many more ahead, it's hard not to give anything away. Your reactions are priceless, and you have a great singing voice 8) Alone on Christmas, this was a nice treat.

M
McShades · December 26, 2025

George Lucas produced Howard the Duck. It wasn't great lol... but it was based on a Marvel comic book Per James Gunn, Groot actually did die, Baby Groot is his son. Guardians of the Galaxy is my favorite of all MCU movies. James Gunn also did the new Superman movie that just came out. Just a tip, you might want to put yourself on the right side of the camera so the movie doesn't cover part of your face, but I still loved your reaction to this movie :)

D
D · December 26, 2025

What a treat on Christmas. I'm glad you found this movie as fun as you did. It was a big swing for Marvel at the time. Brings me back to watching it in a Baltimore theater the first night I got back to the states from a deployment. I was so stoked to see it was still in theaters. Like you alluded, everything else so far was earth grounded and still in a realm of believably. The first few movies (Iron Man and Hulk especially) were also heavily supported by the military as Marvel was a brand new movie studio and pre-Disney buy out trying something new, so that's why they felt different than most of the stuff that has since come out. This was something wildly different and there were doubts Marvel knew what it was doing. Luckily it became a hit. Looking forward to seeing the rest of this series with you.

J
John Herrick · December 26, 2025

What a great Christmas present for all of us. I saw this in theaters with my older sister who doesn't know a thing about Marvel stuff other than what I tell her and she loved this movie. There is no back story you need, the movie gives you all you need. So you can have all the space stuff but it is really a story grounded by emotion. It is also pretty amazing they got two of the biggest actors in Hollywood to play a Raccoon and a Tree.

S
Scott S · December 26, 2025

All the Guardian movies are really well done, I'm sure you'll love them.

J
Jayson Phillips · December 26, 2025

Thank you Eralia! This was a huge Christmas gift to me. I hope you are having a fun and relaxing time this Holiday! Actually, Howard the Duck was a flop Blade was great! So I consider Blade as the 1st of the Marvel Movies. But Iron man was first in the MCU so you are doing perfect! *hugs*

T
Thomas Yanez · December 25, 2025

"Iron Man" WAS the first movie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so while it is true that there were many movies based on Marvel content that preceded the MCU, you were still kinda right based on the information you had available at the time; you just didn't know the whole story (the separation (at the time) between the MCU and the non-MCU (original Spider-Man movies, X-Men movies, Blade, etc.)

O
Onno Smits · December 25, 2025

Haha, yeah, you're not the only one that had this reaction to the movie. When I saw this in the theater it gave me a headache from all the repeated crying and laughing. 😂 Merry Christmas! 🎄

The jailbreak scene is the basis for Disneyland’s “Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT!” ride. https://disneyland.disney.go.com/attractions/disney-california-adventure/guardians-galaxy-mission-breakout/

R
Rayna Storie · December 25, 2025

I've been definitely waiting for this reaction I knew you would love it. I'm glad you're enjoying the marvel movies. Can't wait for the next one. I'm sure you've got a lot on your plate right now but the X-Men franchise is separate from the MCU they don't have any relationship to each other until much much later so if you looking for something more to watch after you finish Harry Potter start the X-Men franchise you won't be disappointed

T
TonesFantasyWomen · December 25, 2025

You say this is first time watching these movies, but you know character names before their name is mentioned in movie, you said "Drax" before his name was said, Nothing more annoying than reactors that fake reactions....lol

T
Troy · December 25, 2025

Eh, people that draw attention to it are pretty high up there too. And not that it should matter, but captions -- which a lot of people use -- say his name before she does. So... maybe give the person you've voluntarily handed money to the benefit of the doubt. Merry Christmas!

T
Troy · December 25, 2025

I was hoping for this video today! Best present so far, thank you for sharing it with us. Wishing everyone a joyous "I am Groot." Edit: I'm sorry this movie starts with such a gut punch, it made me cry the first time I saw it, and then on a different level when I lost my dad. Additional later edit: Lovin' the singalong! Final edit: Iron Man was the first MCU movie and anyone nipticking is being needlessly difficult, also Howard The Duck was not a movie worth remembering.
