It's insane how much information they leave out of this movie

Watching this makes me want to re-read the books. They are so much more elaborate and add so much. Obviously you have to cut a lot for the movies. There is a lot of silliness and plot holes, but if you can look past them they are amazing books for teenagers and even adults.

Some more spoiler-free lore that isnt really talked about in the movies but is sort of important. Wizards and witches learn the ability to essentially teleport, called "Apparition", in their 6th year of schooling, and when they turn 17 they are allowed to use it freely. Its basically the Wizarding drivers license. There are places covered in protective spells you cant Apparate into of course, like Hogwarts or the bank. All underage wizards are also imbued with "The Trace", its a tracking spell so the government knows if they do underage magic they shouldnt be (like teleporting or dropping a cake on your aunt's head), and it automatically goes away as soon as they turn 17. So, the boot they touch in the beginning that takes them to the World Cup and the Trophy at the end of the maze, is a "PortKey". Almost any inanimate object can be turned into a Portkey. Once bewitched, the object will transport anyone who grasps it to a pre-arranged destination and touching it again takes you back. Its so underage people can teleport places, or if you needed a quick getaway (like say you were worried someone was going to kick down your front door for example) you could just grab it and it would take you one-way to wherever you programmed it to without even having to think about it. They were a regular part of home security duing the height of Voldemort's days when people were afraid Death Eaters (Voldy's followers) could come knocking.

Ah-hem… watch “The Batman” from 2022. There’s a certain strapping, young lad that takes on the cape and cowl in that movie.

Aww dang, I didn’t realise upon paying for the subscription that you wouldn’t have the movies clear to be seen, I was hoping to actually watch them with you. Still here for the vibes but a little disappointed, I assume it’s due to copyright issues that that’s the case?

K
Kevin Bandy · December 21, 2025

The only one I'm aware of that plays the movies to be seen by the audience, copyright be damned, is that Alex guy. Nearly every other reactor blurs it out.

Paul Durbin · December 21, 2025

Maybe that Dark Knight Trilogy will need to turn into a Christopher Nolan marathon. (He's the director of TDK and directs a movie called Tenet with Robert Pattinson) You'd enjoy a lot of his films. Robert Pattinson was also in "The Batman."

D
David Uveges · December 21, 2025

This was my favourite book growing up, and is my favourite movie in the series. Speaking of Robert Pattinson, you should watch The Batman. And speaking of Batman, you should watch Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy… and speaking of Christopher Nolan, you should definitely watch Interstellar. I also have the same fear of open water. Took me 15 minutes to leave the pod in Subnautica.

This movie definitely had alot of teenage angst lol but the movies only get better👍

Robert Pattinson(vampire guy) actually is a really good actor after the vampire movies lol. He's amazing in Good Time

Troy · December 20, 2025

Okay, this was much better the second time around. (Hadn't watched it since theaters 20 years ago.) Now that I knew what to expect, I was able to enjoy it for what it was. (At the time, it felt like they rushed through the story beats with little time to breathe, and the everything in the movie is depicted as more chaotic and unsafe than the books. [Ron, Hermione, etc., were never in danger underwater, IIRC.] I still think a 3-hour version would have done it better justice. To this day I would argue that the Prisoner of Azkaban is the best film of the series. Alfonso Cuarón is underrated.)

Troy · December 20, 2025

Also, YES about the large glasses! Who wants to feel like they're looking out of a ship porthole all the time?

HP #4 gives you more wizarding world, more characters, more darkness, and more budget to create this fantastic world.

Eralia, you should track down some recent pictures of Neville Longbottom actor Matthew Lewis.

I’ve seen this movie very many times, but watching it with you felt like the first time. Thank you so much for what you do and for every movie you’ve shared so far — it honestly makes my days special. Wishing you wonderful holidays and all of the best wishes!

What source did you watch this movie from? YouTube movies and HBO has a 2h37m long version, of course that includes credits and all, which is what I watched along with you. You missed several small scenes, where I had to pause your reaction while the scenes played through to catch up with yours. You should try to look out for the longer versions, if you can, just to get all the content you can. I don't think there are any extended editions of these movies, so it seems you watched a version that was cut down a bit, I guess. Any way possible you could remember to let us know in the intro of each reaction, the source you're using for the movies, since some can vary in runtime? Thanks! Enjoying your reactions! These movies get better as they go IMO too, so I'm looking forward to further reactions from you on this series.

Thomas Yanez · December 20, 2025

Another reason it would be nice if she gave us the runtime for movies in the description to complement the embedded image, and making sure that runtime information comes from the actual media being used and not from a Google.

William · December 20, 2025

This is why I love watching your reactions. You catch on to even the smallest of details straight away! It took me several watches to catch some of the things you caught onto to. Like you yourself said, you even "accidently spoil the movie for yourself" at times, and it's really satisfying watching those moments click, that I wish I had paid more attention to on my first watch. But also why I love these movies is because there's so much background, lore and so many details to miss and eventually figure out. Even though you catch on to a lot of them, I bet you there are loads of reasons for even yourself to rewatch these movies, as every rewatch grants you with more details and lore to look further into. Can't wait to see the rest! In the meantime, merry Christmas and happy holidays! See you next year for more! :)

Powers209 · December 20, 2025

Wow, I didn't think we'd get another movie until after New Years. If you decide to drop any more movies before taking a holiday break, I'd just like to say Merry Christmas Eralia and may the New Year and the road raise to meet you.

Ron’s reaction toward Harry here really comes down to recognition. The idea of “eternal glory” genuinely matters to him. As the sixth of seven kids, he often fades into the background: Bill and Charlie are hugely accomplished, Percy’s been a Prefect and Head Boy, the twins are unforgettable, and Ginny is the only girl. Being best friends with Harry Potter only amplifies that feeling. His jealousy isn’t flattering, but it does make sense. I liked your take on this version of Dumbledore too. He definitely feels more upbeat and sarcastic compared to the first two films. There is a moment in this one that’s become a bit infamous—the “did you put your name in the Goblet?” scene—because it’s played far more aggressively than in the book. I think Michael Gambon brings some great energy to the role overall, but Richard Harris’s Dumbledore still sets the benchmark for me I laughed at the “princess moment” comment about Hermione. If you ever do watch the live-action Beauty and the Beast, Emma Watson is great as Belle. And yes—this film is probably Ron at his worst. He has more rough moments later on too, though there is some redemption. Overall, his character lost a lot of nuance compared to the books, where he’s written with more balance. The absolute highlight for me, though, was the Pensieve trial. Watching you clock Barty Crouch Jr. so quickly—especially picking up on the tongue flick—was incredibly satisfying. That whole sequence is so dense with information, and seeing it click in real time was fantastic. It’s one of those scenes that rewards close attention, and your reaction really elevated it. From there, everything just snowballs—the maze, the graveyard, Cedric. It’s such a sharp tonal shift, and the series never really looks back after this. Rewatching these through a fresh perspective has been genuinely enjoyable, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how you experience what’s still to come.

Straight to the cool stuff that you might have missed. Aurors are basically wizard police that were responsible for chasing death eaters. Barty Crouch Jr who was responsible for torturing two aurors named Frank and Alice Longbottom (they only mentioned Fank Longbottom in the movie), Nevilles parents. They used cruciatus curse which was the same curse Barty used in the class room on the spider in front of Neville, evil I know. Myrtle was the first one to mention polyjuice potion in the bath tub, mentioned that she tasted it in the sewers, that was nice catch from you before they started to show it to the viewers on purpose. Malfoy, Goyle and Grabbe (the young ones) have nothing to do with their fathers/parents basically being death eaters, thats why nothing is done to them.
