Reinventing Yourself 🌿 | The Eralia Show

Watching this to tide me over until the next movie watchalong. No idea what to expect! ::straps in:: ::real-time type-a-long enabled:: Time may be a construct, but I don't think that makes it not real, any less so than love or integrity or courage or hope. I will argue/agree that it's probably not a thing/substance/dimension, so much as a way to keep everything from happening simultaneously. I like the box metaphor. I like to think of it as a 'life script', which we may or may not be consciously aware of. Sometimes it's not even a specific title or role, so much as a 'character/idiom/persona.' Some people's life script says they are creative, others' scripts say... ::pause:: okay, I can't type while watching, so I'll hold off on my own rambling. Oh wait, I'm fine now... I have to say, the idea of playing games as a means of connecting and fulfillment is something that somehow never occurred to me, but I started gaming at a time when it was mostly a solitary pursuit unless you talked to similarly-minded people later on. Now I need to go find your "The Walking Dead" content, I loved those games, but most of the people I know didn't. I'm at a stage of my life where if I'm going to reinvent myself, it's probably now or never. I can't see myself becoming an "influencer," I've only embraced paying attention to online influencers in the post-pandemic era. It's when I started watching people doing things online. And yes, it's much easier to "reinvent" yourself i you have the resources to do so, like celebrities. (I liked when Selena Gomez reinvented herself as an Oreo flavor.) I probably need to start walking/running, provided I don't kill myself in the process! I get the "I'm not a [title] I just [do the thing." I often say I'm not a writer even though I write. (And especially if people have paid you to do that thing for them.) Ugh, don't even get me started on Impostor Syndrome. The podcaster title has evolved so much over the last twenty years. It used to be a low-entry activity, like saying you blog. (Though I think fewer people blog now thanks largely to social media sites. Nobody wants to just go to a blogging site anymore, it seems.) Dance classes? God... your personal motivation is through the f**king roof. You are so inspiring, it's borderline annoying. XD =D I also like the sidequest label, makes it sound more fun/gamey. (I'm-a shut up now and just listen to the rest of this.) I really needed to hear "You're not just your job" right now, you have no idea. Feeling like "things are too late" really sucks! You would be a good life coach. Just saying. Sorry this was so rambly.
Great video! It was super touching and relatable. I'm not really able to put a whole lot of thought into this post - so I'm just here to say that. :)
This is something I wrote back in November of 2011. We each see the world through a unique pair of eyes, those that may lack sight, feel it strongly within themselves. Try not to see the world for what it is, but what it can be. What I can possibly do to shape it to a form that benefits us all. Many wake up each day and struggle through it. Don't let what bad may happen to you within the course of a day, week, month and so on effect who you are. Be the person you want to be. There's always time to turn things around. Put a smile on someone's face. There are those that feel they have failed by bringing a child into the world too soon. You have not failed for there is yet more life. Let that empower you to be the best parent you can be. Where you may have thought you had faults, prove it wrong in the showing your child the way. Be a light wind upon the sand, for if you become a gale you may wear away things that you may not have wanted to. Some may be born with, develop, acquire injuries or sickness that alter their lives. They have two choices, give up or fight on. We as humans like so many other animals can find ways to persevere. While some may not like what options that are left, find one or create one that works best for you. Let giving up be for quitters. Many of us lose someone we hold dear and so many leave us far too soon. Let that not be the end. Let the person live on within your heart. Keep the memories and stories, both good and bad, guide you. To help you improve upon who you want to be. Also, take them and share them with others, help guide others. Let death not be an end, but from everything we may learn, let it be a continuation of life. What you see, what you learn, share it. When you see someone down, help them back to the their feet. If someone is having a rough day, find a way to change that. Tell a horrible joke, two smirks equals a full smile. At least acknowledge them, so that they may at least know that they are not walking through life invisible. In the end, we are who we choose to be. See not the world for what it is, but for what it can be.
Well said. I can add a parallel thought.. perhaps more career oriented.. if you find yourself being the smartest person in a room, it's time to find a new room. That's something that I lost sight of some time ago and my career stagnated a bit. Realized it a little while ago and made some changes which worked out. After that room change, I did feel a little bit of that imposter syndrome.. but that faded with additional learning/experience. Here's a movie recommendation: The Final Countdown (1980). Very cool movie that hasn't cracked into the reaction channels yet. A bit of a cult classic. In addition to a thought provoking/"what if" plot, it has some of the best authentic naval aviation scenes in a movie. I think it would be perfect as a one off.
i love that perspective on life!! thank you for sharing!
The problem is somethings you can't do alone. For somethings you need others. I like my life the only thing I am missing is a wife/girlfriend and children. Children I can't get without a wife/girlfriend. And a year ago I asked someone out but she refused. So now I am looking for someone else. But if I don't find someone then even a positive attitude can't chance that. I am a very positive person but also want to be realistic. I am a person who everyone likes but no one loves. In my whole life I haven't heard anything negative about me(except for my brother and sister). And that's great I have a lot of people around me that I care about and have a great time with. But no one who wants more from me. So I am happy with most things in my life. But still also lack some.
Most of it I can relate so damn well brother. Some day we will find a person who we getting in love with and getting loved from. Have nice day/night/sleep everyone
I’m going to manifest being healthier! 💪
New to your patreon. This was a cool show. 👍🏾
I went through the same experience with running. I am also currently at a running deficit so to speak. I am excited to get back to it this new year with all the other Revelation runners.🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃🏃
