Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone Watch-Along

JK Rowlings views literally are just what 99.5% of all people believed 10 years ago and now she's painted as evil while everyone just rebrands her entire series. It's wild

i think the you should see are the "Back To The Fulure" movies it's in 3 parts

Thank you for acknowledging the elephant in the room. I've grown up with Harry Potter; I was 11 years old when I read the first book and the last book came out when I was 18, so it meant a lot to me. I must have read the books a dozen times, and listened to the audiobook versions a bunch more. Loved the movies as well, though somewhat less. So the level of betrayal I felt when JK Rowling starting her terf nonsense ran deep. I just couldn't believe that the writer of a book series all about fighting intolerance could be as short-sighted and bigoted as that. I was heartbroken. I'm over it nowadays, but the series now has this hateful funk to it. So this will be the first I'm revisiting the movies in many many years. I still have my copies, which is good because I promised myself I wouldn't spend any more money on the HP franchise.

where are you watching this?

Brand new member here, firstly thank you for your service🫡, and I also love these movies, they definitely make me feel nostalgic about my childhood. I also recommend (after watching all the movies) the YouTube channel Harry Potter theory, he does great videos that goes over Harry Potter lore and theories. P. S. Good Slytherin DM's joke😂

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is my favorite Harry Potter movie because of how innocent the movie feels. It always makes me cry especially those sweet moments. It's so cute and pure. However, be prepared that every movie gets darker and darker little by little. The Deathly Hallows part 2 is my 2nd favorite because of how dark the movie is and how amazing the actors made the movie come to life. It also makes me cry. The last movie is also the movie I remember the most details from the book because I remembered when the book first came out in elementary school. I will say that the books have extra and many details. Watching the movies on Peacock has the deleted scenes, so I would recommend watching them there. The deleted scenes give extra context to things, so I am just confused why the director decided to not add them. The next one, Chamber of Secrets, is the closest with details out of all the movies. However, after that, the movies lack the book details because there is a new director. All the actors, in my opinion, is what brings the movies to life and amazing even if the movies lack those extra details. You should do a Pottermore test and see what House you get from Hogwarts!

Yayyyyyy!!!!!!!!

To answer some of your questions throughout the movie: The Harry Potter houses are all based off the four original founders of Hogwarts, each of which had different views and values on what was important in raising and training new wizards. The sorting hat is essentially a personality test. Griffindor values courage, daring, and chivalry; Hufflepuff values hard work, dedication, loyalty, and fair play; Ravenclaw values wisdom, wit, learning, and creativity; and Slytherin values ambition, cunning, and resourcefulness. Hense Slytherin is often seen as the bullies. Not every Slytherin is bad, but every bad wizard is Slytherin, basically. You asked why Voldemort was weak. Basically when he tried to kill Harry, the spell backfired and hit him. He's not dead (for reasons which will be revealed in later movies) but is left in a pitiful, half life state. He has been essentially hiding and biding his time waiting to return.

Can you turn off the audio. I'm getting the echo when trying to watch it with you. We only need the audio on for 30 secs to sync it.

Hey, Thanks! These reactions hit different and bring a kind of peace. Been a hectic season, and this has been a quiet little reset. Appreciate ya

The music and movie probably "feel" kind of Christmas-y because it was directed by the same director as Home Alone. Once you know that, you see home alone vibes through the whole movie.

Hogwarts is basically a school, so has the same timing as a school, off in the summers.

As far as what they're doing now, Daniel Radcliffe (Harry) was in the stage and now movie version of "Merrily We Roll Along," and he recently starred as Weird Al Yankovic in the Weird Al mockumentary biopic, "Weird: The Al Yankovic Story."

2001-2004 was a golden era for wizardry & sword&sorcery movies: November 2001: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone December 2001: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring November 2002: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets December 2002: The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers December 2003: The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King June 2004: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Alan Rickman! aka Snape. Now that you’ve seen this movie, add “Die Hard” and “Galaxy Quest” to your list.

Godspeed with the PCS. I've only seen the first couple movies so this will be a fun series!

First I have to say that alot of the questions that you keep asking are mostly answered in the last books. There are bunch of mysteries that tie in the end. Second one is that the movies are just a scratch compared to the books. Basically everything you see in the movies are from the books. Some trivia: When this movie came out only 4 out of 7 books was made at that point. Two of the first movies are actually lowest rated movies from the series, might be because the actors are so young but also the story gets alot better towards the end. Dumbledore is considered the strongest wizard in the world. Thats why voldemort fears him.

Full transparency, me from 24 years ago was not impressed with this movie, but I've mellowed considerably in the two and half decades since, so I'm willing to give it another shot alongside a fun reactor. (The best movie is still the third one, though, for a lot of reasons.) Also, it's good to cleanse the pallet between MCU Phases!

Harry Potter is my favourite Book and Movie series! So happy we get to watch this magical journey with you! You won’t be disappointed!

I haven't seen these in years! It's going to be so much fun to watch these with you! :)

Happy to see you diving into this franchise. (Happy, not happy, for the MCU pause).

OH SHIT WAS HOPING FOR IRON MAN 3 but im not complaining 🥳

This isn't in the MCU... ;) It's fine. I'm not into these, I was too old when they came out. Enjoy!

OH THIS IS GOING TO BE A DAMN GOOD REACTION SERIES!

Lfg!!!!

I love this franchise and I'm excited to do the watch long with you but I hope this doesn't mean we have to wait too long for MCU Phase 2!

So excited to watch this! One of my favorite franchises. ❤️
