Hey guys. These weekends were… let’s be honest, not great.
Ever since this whole moving-and-apartment saga started, my cats decided that rules are optional. The litter box? Boring. The bed? Perfect. My backpack? Why not. Even though before that they were model citizens of the cat world.
At first, I panicked and thought it was kidney-related. But they were eating, drinking, behaving normally. Then I realized it might be stress. My stress. I cry, I’m anxious, I spiral a bit and they pick it up better than any therapist. Even though, to be fair, they’ve already survived a flight to Poland and two moves here. Veterans, not cats.
The day before yesterday I came home and understood this wasn’t funny anymore. Shishka was acting strange, meowing loudly, and went to the toilet прямо in my bed. On top of that, she was anxious, didn’t want to be touched, and kept trying to hide.
I was really scared. It was late evening, I stayed with her until morning, waiting for the clinics to open. No sleep. Just counting minutes.
In the morning we went to the vet. Exams, tests kidneys and bladder are fine. But it turned out Shishka has inflamed gums and a tooth that started to decay. For now she’s on calming meds, and in a month she’ll need blооd tests for anesthesia and the tooth will be removed so the inflammation doesn’t spread. She’s still anxious, but already feeling better. Two days of medication, a month of calming pills, and as much love as possible.
This morning I also took a urinе sample from Plushka the results should come today. She was prescribed calming meds too. I really hope my girls will be okay.
Sometimes I humanize animals too much. And yes, it’s hard for me. Because I worry about them more than about myself. Anything related to animals hits me straight in the heart. Maybe it’s not the most rational trait. But it’s definitely one of the most honest ones 🥲
P.S. And speaking of animals, I'm heading to the dog shelter again on Sunday, staying there for two days as a volunteer. I'll be reporting to you from the other side of the dog world :)
