Hey guys. I have news. I didn’t want to share it earlier because I was afraid of jinxing it. You know how it is. We Slavs get scared first, celebrate later.🥹
You know that I rent a car for delivery work. A small Toyota yaris from 2001. Every Tuesday I pay 80 dollars for it. One day I decided to do the math. I did. And it made me a bit sad. In three months I had already paid a pretty serious amount. Especially considering that delivery work barely covers the rent and gas. Survival mode aesthetics.
Of course, I started thinking about buying my own car. But thinking and being able to afford it are two very different things. Reality is simple. I have priorities. I’m still paying off debt, paying rent, feeding my cats, buying food, paying bills and blah blah blah.
I even stopped traveling, although you know how much I love it. I never spend money on unnecessary things or clothes. I always spent it on experiences and trips. Europe makes that possible. But 2025 quickly reminded me that sometimes priorities have to change. 🥲
One evening, I’m lying in the bath, trying to relax after another chaotic day. And the guy I rent the car from calls me and says:
- Hi Valeriya, I have a proposal for you. Would you like to buy your own car?
I honestly said yes. I really want to. But I can’t afford it right now. I use the Toyota not only for deliveries but also as my personal car, so I understand how much I need one. Then he says
I know your situation. And I want to help. You can rent the car with the option to buy it. You just keep paying weekly until you cover the full price.
Basically, an installment plan. Or a loan. Just without interest.
I was shocked. What? 🤨 I said I needed time to think.
At the beginning of the year, I made a vision board. 🤪 I cut out pictures, set intentions. And it came true? Or what? In the most beneficial way possible.
He offered me a 2012 Nissan Note. 1.4 engine. Full equipment. Manual transmission. The market price in Poland is around 4000 to 5000 dollars. I was offered it for 2000. And I had already paid 1000 of that through rent over the last three months.
Of course, I didn’t believe it at first. It sounded unreal. Why would someone just help me. Where’s the catch.🤔
But he calmly explained that he was happy I had been his client. That I always paid on time, treated the car carefully, and was simply a good and pleasant person. And that it hurt him to see me working in delivery because I deserve more. He didn’t want to trick me. He genuinely wanted to help.
It was incredibly touching. Still, my brain didn’t fully trust it.
He gave me time. Told me to find my own mechanic, check the car, drive it for a week, and decide. I did exactly that. Found a mechanic. Checked the databases. Did diagnostics. Everything was fine. Everything was real.
I still can’t believe it.
All week I was running between service stations and insurance offices. And today I finally finished everything.
Now I own a car.
I’m 30 years old. And this is my first car.
Yes, I wanted a Mini Cooper. 😁 Obviously. But I’m insanely happy anyway.
I have a car, guys.
Thank you, guys, thank you universe, for hearing me. For supporting me. For sending the right people at the right time. Maybe I’ll fully believe it when I pay everything off? Or when time passes? I don’t know.
But it’s real.
Welcome to the family, black Nissan 🖤
