Note 09/27/2025

Depression is often seen as an enemy, something to be defeated and pushed out of life as quickly as possible. But if you listen closely, it has its own language. It’s not a cry, not a noise more like a muffled whisper saying: “slow down.” The world seems covered in a gray filter, and yet in this monochrome stillness, there is sometimes a chance to notice what the brightness of everyday rush usually hides.

In these moments, we are confronted not only with pain, but also with honesty. Depression strips away the masks we wear, shakes the ground beneath what we thought was solid, and forces us to ask unsettling questions: who am I without my roles, without others expectations, without the familiar noise?

It’s a painful experience, but it reveals the essence.

Depression can be seen as a strange teacher. Harsh, without tenderness, but still capable of pointing toward what has long demanded attention. Sometimes, in that silence, we hear ourselves for the first time the raw, unpolished self, not adjusted to fit in, not fabricated. And then comes the chance to rethink life, not from the pace of the race, but from a place of inner pause.

The conclusion it brings is simple yet difficult the true value is not in being “strong” or “successful” at all times, but in staying honest with oneself. Depression doesn’t make us weaker it reveals how vulnerable we are, and therefore how alive we are. And perhaps it is through this very vulnerability that we learn to truly feel both ourselves and others.

It's funny that I understand this. It's also funny that it sounds insanely simple, so it seems impossible. How to accept this? How to realize it, and not just understand it…
