This week’s lil life update 🍂

It’s been so lovely being back in Romania. I was a little worried that I might miss South Africa this time around. We’ve spent so much time there over the past few years and have slowly built a little life that I’m genuinely excited about 🥺

The plan moving forward is to spend more time in Romania so we can build a different kind of life here that we’re equally excited about - focusing on all the things we don’t really have in our small town in rural South Africa. Friends, interesting events, safe bikepacking, easy international travel, bouldering gyms, art festivals, galleries… all the things that make us feel curious and alive ✨

I also wanted to be careful not to fall back into drinking too much. Alcohol was a huge part of my life when I worked in cocktail bars several years ago, and while I still love the occasional cocktail or glass of wine, I never want to feel like it has that kind of hold over me again.

Well, I’m very happy to report that we’ve been back for a few weeks now and I’m falling in love with Romania in a completely new way as I reshape my relationship with the city ❤️

We’ve already been to sooo many creative events - from jewellery expos and urban art festivals to creative markets and craft beer events. I feel stimulated and motivated and excited and just so alive 🧚‍♂️

The highlight of the week was definitely signing the contract for my new apartment 🏡 It’s nearly identical to my old one, except it’s MUCH bigger and has enough space for an art studio, a photography setup, a streaming area and everything else I’ve been dreaming about. I’m so unbelievably stoked.

Autumn is looking absolutely gorgeous too 🍁 We ate pizza and drank wine on the floor of the empty apartment, and Ethan gave me a beautiful photograph by a local artist as a housewarming gift. ✨ Such a perfect first evening in our new home.

For now, Sam and I are still sharing one very tiny desk at Ethan's place. Two laptops and two monitors take up just about every centimetre of available space haha. This weekend we’re buying a mattress and a proper desk, which means we can officially start moving in 🫶🏻
