[PUBLIC EPISODE] The Wizard, the Witch and the Wild One: ep020 “Later Than You Think"
Tick tock. Tick tock. What time is it? How much is left? Can we have five more minutes? The gang's investigation has pierced the veil of the Citadel, and peering back at them through the penumbra is the great iron face of a clock, hands moving up and down, rotating and returning like the silent islands in the sky. Hands that hold you back, spin you round, or throw you, gasping.

Re-liestening and nothing hurt worse that "your not ready for it" like a punch to the chest
Layers shield each other From that which needs to be done Cloaks ripple in time
When you relisten and realise Ghost is a ?Humanoid jewelhopper 😔 please tell us she hasn't been killed or portraited...
"Given 40 years, what will your cottage look like" 😭❤️
Let it be known I would die for Wizard Sly
"Let me be clear. There is nowhere you need me that can keep me from you." I felt that so deep in my BLOOD, Aabria 😵 so much that I think I need to see it as ink in my skin. When I do, you'll be the first to know. Does Cyril have a handwriting font? 😉
Hi, normally I listen to these in the Youtube music app, but it this episode still isn't up on there. Is there normally this delay?
I'm calling it now: Brennan is evil enough to title an episode "Kalaya's Lost Years" (ATLA reference) that the majority of the episode is going through Kalaya's time in Umora. And it starts with her coming out the portal and thinking her brother is pranking her. She keeps jumping behind random trees to scare him: expecting he is there. Then it switches to a scene where it's raining and she can't find shelter. Brennan will fill a pool with our tears
I'm so into Sly and the OoPCD (or as we call it around here, the "Oopsie Dee")
This episode had me in my feelings all the way through. Also, we totally need a storytime of Sly's shenanigans with Grandmother Wren at some point.
Holy moly, I got a mad case of the shivers at the end before I realised those were Citadel skyships. 🫠
Was The Stranger among the paintings that Soft freed 22 years ago?
WHHYYYY WOULD YOU PUT THIS IDEA THOUGHT IN MY HEEEAAADDD
Anyone else get the feeling that Hanna made those shields? And she had to stand by while they were just... given away?
Pomeroy having a hint of Mark Hamill in his voice just makes me love Brennan even more 👌
I feel so powerfully for the artificers that that part made me cry...at work...at a job that is consistently taken for granted. I'm so tired of hearing "without you guys, no one else in this place would have a job" from the higher-ups. It's empty rhetoric meant to sway us into false security when we are underpaid and have to work overtime just to pay rent. Most people do not care about an easel when it's holding a painting. They see the terrible beauty of looming towers but not the foundation that keeps those towers tall and strong. Metaphors, metaphors, capitalism is the bad guy, etc.
I feel this in my blood. For what cause on earth is weaker than the feeble strength of one? Solidarity forever to you from AU, my friend. Let's not talk about how the Citadel would be the equivalent of a union-busting billion-dollar-multinational 😉
They stole their lunch break! Terrible workplace 🤬😔
Uncle made me tear up on the bus 😭
This is not the place for this question, but it just came up as I'm watching it. Did the name "Worlds Beyond Number" have anything to do with Brennana saying it in Episode 5: Reflections, 2:09. I see it says Brennana right now but I am not going to correct it.
Episode 5 of "The Seven" in dimension 20.
This podcast brightens my commute every time. 💖
We need a Sly and Fox one off quest where Brennan has to play every single character and we get to hear him slowly dip into the murky fog of GM insanity
I need a flashback to Ren & Sly, undertaking a mission
The tonal changes this ep are wild! Absolutely amazing work all around
Brennan's diction when Pomeroy gets mad makes me think of Basil Fawlty. That's all I can picture for him now.
Question for the fireside: I hope Brennan comes back from Panama soon because I'd be interested in hearing him talk about the trickiness of role-playing a diviner. (I thought Brandon was a real smooth when Eursulon asked sly if Sly already knew what Eursulon was about to ask and Abria was delightfully devious in stealing a ruby that Sly supposedly divined that no one would steal.)
This was tough! Unionize the mills! So sad 😭
Man Sly is like an network engineer at a tech company. Just a weirdo stuffed in a back room, foresaging problems 200 years out, but they're so specific and complicated that nobody listens to him, because to even begin to explain why he's right, he would first have to teach you 37 other things.
100% - especially the fact that no one notices a brilliant IT worker that prevents problems because they seemingly never 'fix' anything
The SCORE for the wizard Sly! Brilliant brilliant brilliant.
Ame, presumably nudging Eursulon with an elbow: I have never known Suvi not to be speakin’ for herself Eursulon, missing that this is supposed to be the bit where they razz their friend while she’s standing two feet away: oh don’t worry it’s just a saying :) Ame: …… alright
Shoutout to the Wizard Sly. One of my favorite things Brennan does in worldbuilding is to follow the existence of magic to its natural conclusion -- if you possess an insanely high level of divination magic, what steps would you need to take to actually act on the information you're getting? What if the powers that be didn't give a shit about what you knew was the most important? Absolutely incredible.
I assume Sly saying Suvi and not Sky was a mistake, but if not, hoo boy
Huh. Sly says "Suvi" not "Sky". 👀
Uncle Sly is a variant of Arthur Aguefort
Minus the megalomania and questionable preferences in partner, but this is EXACTLY what I thought.
Brennan: This is my wizard NPC. He has timeline fuckery magic and loves birds. He is strange and powerful but has vital information for the heroes' quest. Me: Don't do it ho Brennan: The wizard says something cryptic and then immediately teleports away. Me: What did I just say!!
Having recently become a new DM I definitely like these characters even more, especially the Wizard Sly.
The idea of ordering your quest list by what imaginary food is nearby adds a layer of realism to these characters I really enjoy 😂
Sly is the fucking man
Everyone who was there for the "HOUSE" finally singing, "Enjoy yourself... It's later than you think..."
“My mom used to be a diviner”… you mean at one point we had Sly and the Wizard Stone??
Listen, Brennan’s food descriptions lately are SO off the chain. I don’t know what the bit-to-reality ratio was on “you don’t actually need a menu,” but we’ve come a long way, baby!
Also, my headcanon is Wizard Sly and Wizard Sonder, down at Candle Street, swapping notes about things the Citadel could just be better at
"You all heard Eursalon v Goat, are you ready for Wizard Skye v Coven of Elders (probably/mostly Merara and her wickedness)?" Taylor but in an announcer voice, probably
I'm only 12 minutes in and all I've said was wow wow wow. Brennan has made me loathe a character already.
The way you phrased at the end, as Steel comes home to her citadel, after we learned how shitty and corrupt the citadel can be, make it sound like she is complicit and or responsible for it being that way. 😬😬
Spoilers . . . . . . . . . I really loved the way that Sly gave prophesies. I enjoy a direct prophet over the indirect ones, and the way that he told Ame how to solve her problem was helpful without being too revealing. Just wanted to write my appreciation.
Love the show and love you guys- just a minor thing could there be a little less like chewing and groaning into the mic please!
Love it when I get an episode to listen to on my lunchtime walk. Really appreciate you guys arranging the release schedule to suit GMT dwellers
Hop in that Dimension Duber and let's go!
