Taylor's Score Inspiration Playlist
Link to Taylor's Score Inspiration
You've heard of a "look book" or a "vision board" but a "inspiration playlist"??? Yes, you have heard of that as well. Especially now. The music behind the man behind the music behind the show, finally in front, and just in time for your Friday commute home. People still do that right?

Any way this could get brought over to YouTube too 👀👀
Seatbelts and John Hartford. My people!
Obviously late to the party but holy shit my face when I saw Clearing, Dawn, Dance on it! That's my favorite song and no one has usually ever heard of it, Judd Greenstein and yMusic HIGHLY underrated
My favorite thing i did today was read taylors notes on the playlist. Dont worry taylor, as a choral singer myself, i love me some Eric Whitacre. Have you ever listened to bob chilcott? (Hes my man)
I can’t find Taylor’s playlist on Spotify, what am I missing?
try clicking the link in the post. -t
This is a really brilliant list and it is a pleasure to try to connect the dots between these inspirations and the gorgeous soundtrack you've created for the podcast. Deeply enjoying it.
DUDE THIS ALL SLAPS
I have equal parts envy and admiration for you Taylor. I have no idea how long you've appreciated this span of music or if you've been trying to expand more recently, especially with the minimalist stuff that I was initially forced to listen to at university and then learned to really enjoy - but it seems like you're latching onto music that really makes you feel, and using those tools as much as you can. To see Back to the Future at the top of that list is amazing! It so vividly brings a sense of wonder and magic at the fingertips that is perfect for this podcast and I'd love to see more of that.
Taylor you are so cool! This playlist is so awesome. I am curious, do you have a background in music? Also I have a song rec for you- St Martin De Porres by Mary Lou Williams
Shoutout to taylor for causing me the most visceral Pavlovian emotional response to dvorak op 22
one of my favorite dvorak pieces ever, its all making sense now 🧩
I cannot find the Taylor playlist on Spotify, am I missing something? Is it under a different account than the other ones?
Hell yeah, Steve Reich, OTGW, Colin Stetson, Joe Hisaishi. Taylor has great taste
Taylor, these are so so good, my ears are the happiest
Very cool, but where is Brennan's DM playlist
Deeply hopeful for a soundtrack drop someday
These playlists are the bees knees, but I was told there was a Tasteful and Respectful (TM) Will Gallows playlist somewhere, and I'm very committed to this bit. Hook a girl up 🙏💀
just this looped for 3 hrs https://open.spotify.com/track/1JGGsCZ9zhgPJIsPy0pwt9?si=baa78746e41242d4
Hearing 7 papillons: OH. oooOOOOOHHHHH!!! (applause gif here)
Kudos to the cast who put together amazing lists that I have had on repeat since they were released, but this solidifies Taylor as the one I want to hang out with. What an extraordinary list - thank you, Taylor!
love this playlist overall - there are songs that do not resonate as much but so thrilled to see hover II and neptune from the planet suite - one of our all time favorites. Perdition Road and Ruby chef's kiss Thank you!!
God I love this. Originally what the score made me think of was Howl's Moving Castle meets Pictures at an Exhibition, you nailed it Taylor!♡
I love Mussorgsky and used him a lot when I was making the score for Rude Tales of Magic. And yeah I love Howl's too, and you can def tell that Merry-Go-Round of Life was sort of the inspiration for using Serenade for strings as the outro. -t
Definitely recognized (and appreciated) the Colin Stetson inspiration!
Listening to this and recognising the bits that inspired you makes me feet tappingly happy 😊
GOIN A STRAIGHT TO THE READING PLAYLIST!
I love these playlists! Will you ever release the music uses in the show to listen to?
I wasn’t expecting this one 😂
I knew the parade from "Paprika" was an inspiration! One of your compositions sounds so much like it.
Right? There is a sampling in there I can hear that is used for the song used for the spirits
Haven't had a chance to listen yet ... but I'm pleasantly surprised just reading down the list. I saw Colin Stetson do a solo set ten years ago and yeah: WOW. So incredible.
I'd love to know more about your workflow. I compose more for the symphonic and marching idioms. I use Sibelius with some samples sound libraries for playback through Kontak. Great work with everything!!
Thank you! I compose in midi in Pro Tools and have way, way too many sample libraries, mostly NI and Spitfire.
Totally lost it when I saw this drop!!! Knew I was in for a treat with seeing Over The Garden Wall as the top of the playlist. *chef kiss*
I knew that I was hearing some Over the Garden Wall influence in there!
This is the best musical experience I’ve had in a long time. TGIF
Mvmt 2 of Dvorak's serenade for strings has been one of the things I listen to on repeat ever since I analyzed it in a music theory class 7 years ago but now you've cursed me to hear it as an anime song forever. 😂
Parade EXPLICITLY being one of the influences for the Great Bear’s theme is so!!!!! yeah!!!!!!
If you've never seen the video of Hirasawa playing it live, you gotta! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjalQjAomH0 WILD
Aw heck ye!!! Getit!!
Here's a YouTube Music link for those that don't want anything to do with Spotify: https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDte5Bj1bArbByMbvJG1YlDhCJE2ZG_mn&si=BERYj760W9WJWlVa Note: I couldn't find Trial Concerto: Movement 2 by Philip Glass, but I didn't see it on the Spotify playlist either? Not sure what's going on with this one Edit: I managed to find it with some help from Taylor. Tirol Concerto: Movement 2 is not available on YouTube Music, so for the full experience go to the playlist in normal YouTube 😁 https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDte5Bj1bArbByMbvJG1YlDhCJE2ZG_mn&si=yIu1EH61c_LVG5SB
Autocorrect Typo on my part! That’s the Tirol Concerto (like the Austrian mountains, not the Kafka story)
That Colin Stetson video linked in the liner notes is straight bananas.
He is a miracle. And a great composer beyond his solo technique!
That playlist cover pic is pretty dang rad too 😎
Oooooh man I didn't know this was going to be a thing, this is exactly what I love to listen to. Probably going to go on an overly expensive discogs hunt because of it!
At the end of ep 13 when you made the "underwater/above water" sounds over the outro... fucking incredible
great secret playlist!!!
What about the WBN Soundtrack playlist?!? I desperately want to hear several of the music tracks from the show in all their glory! Pleeeeeease!??!
Not Taylor making me cry on a Friday afternoon 😭 “Escape is a dream you are forgetting as you awake into oblivion” like WHAT!? i wrote that down in my fav quotes list it struck me so hard. Loving these notes and descriptions from everyone so much
when's that macarthur genius grant coming. goddam!
Love that song Sibelius peice
Isn’t it great? Makes you scream for the climax, what a tease, and then the music screams for you. Incredible finale, one of the best.
The word play! You're amazing
Lovely stuff!
First glance this looks AMAZING
Omg what an unexpected delight
Would you say this is perhaps Taylor's version? 👀
Perhaps a “Score Board”?
yas queen -t
Yes please and thank you!!
This is wonderful and unexpected, thank you
So cool! Thanks for sharing 🤩 (and yes, perfect for my Friday commute home 💗)
Wowowowowowow
Pretty good post and/or playlist imho!
