WWW: The Children's Adventure Episode 7
As summer advances, so do Ame, Suvi, and Eursulon. Together and in their own incredible ways.

Staring from the begining to fill time till I can get more xl-zl in my life
I'm just marveling at the masterful way Brennan kept the world feeling small and cozy and child-like through this whole period via Grandma Wren, referencing meeting with "some friends of mine who the wizards don't know about" rather than the Coven of Elders, and stating that Suvi's parents are "in trouble, which is a bit different than danger" rather than referencing the League of Whispers, saying that people don't think a witch and wizard should be friends, rather than getting into the geopolitics of witches and the exact nature of her relationship to the citadel. It's all there in ghosts and breadcrumbs just out of frame, and so satisfying once you've finished Book 1 and understand all the stuff she was dealing with and keeping away from the kids.
Also was the shadow that Suvi couldnt quite make out the Man in Black????? Has he been here the whole time? 😨😨🙃😭
Anyone else in 2026 relistening to Children's Adventure for the umpteenth time?
YES HI!
Just realized on this relisten that this episode appears to have the first sighting of the Man in Black 👀
SHE SHOULD HAVE SAID YESSSS SUVI AHOULD HAVE JUST BECOME A WITCH😭😭😭
The impulse to say "Come on, Provolone!" has crossed beyond worlds. Out of order even?? Who's to say :]
I only just put two and two together on this re-listen that the reason why eursalon specifically ended up emerging from the ivy door at the time of the children’s adventures is because of the thinning of the veils of transportation that suddenly caused the citadel to be thrown into chaos and war that summer. Transportation across Umora became easier and that also meant transportation across planes became easier, and as a younger spirit he was probably only able to cross the realms during those easier times with thinner veils
WAGH!! Listening to this for the first time AFTER the main series, and I need to know: Lou chose an etching of crashing waves for Eursulon’s sword. Did Brennan make the connection to Naram then and there, or did Lou just naturally stumble into that plot??
Obviously I don't know for sure, but I think Brennan might have created all of Naram, or at least turned him into an ocean spirit, based on the sword description. He seemed to suggest in one of the new fireside chats that he built the lore of wizards, witches, and wild ones based on how the players created/played their characters, meaning the children's adventure might predate much of the lore. I think it's possible he filed it under "cool sword, make into plot," and then created Naram to match the sword (if I remember correctly he gave Naram extra fingers too). It wouldn't be the first time he did something like that (Baron from the Baronies comes to mind).
It's like being back in a Diana Wynn Jones book 😭 I seriously love this so much
With Grandma Wren stating Suvi will always be protected in the cottage gives a new light on her not being seen by the King of Night when he visits in Episode 1.
If I had a dollar for every time Brennan talks abt highways like it’s some kind of greater entity… I’d have two dollars. Which isn’t a lot but it’s making me think of highways as an eldritch horror now.
He knows his Celtic myths real good. Roads are pretty dang magical :)
Listening to this again during summer 2024 is crazy because these kids have NO IDEA how bad these cicadas can get
Eursulon carrying the broomhandle around 😭💖
FYI the audio file for this gets cut off at 50:53 on overcast!
I want to have friend like they are for each others
"Come on provolone" has ascended to the lofty height of "see you in the stars!"
** SPOILERS ** Wait so if Eoghiarin (atrocious spelling) had already gone missing by the solstice, does that mean Soft and Stone were already dead at this point? Did Grandma Wren already know and kept it from Suvi? That’s so sad.
**SPOILERS** I think it's important to note still what Grandmother Wren doesn't know during this summer what she may have found out after Steel came to take Suvi, and I also think we should consider that what Steel tells us in Arc 2 is that she *believes* that Eoghiarin going missing means he betrayed Soft and Stone based on a set of indeterminant logic. Her logic makes sense, of course- but there are still circumstances that could lead to many character's misunderstanding, or even just circumstances that lead Wren to believe Soft and Stone were alive still during this time. Grandmother Wren could've also believed that it would not be her place to tell young Suvi of her parent's passing, and that it would be the resposibility of Steel, an adult in which Suvi knew of longer than Grandmother Wren herself.
I love the lore being given here, but I also love Grandmother Wren's treatment of the children in her care.
Did that photo of Lou's double 6s con roll ever get posted anywhere?! Just WILD
Woow listening to this AFTER arc 1 and listening to them describe wavebreaker was insane
Right there with you, BLM out here making everything loop back in beautiful ways
Can someone explain to me how they started with their ability scores and how they’re advancing because I want to do this with my new campaign but I’m at a loss.
Provolone is a cheese. 🧀
I wanna hug Grandma Wren
I wish I had someone like wren in my life growing up tbh
Literally came to comment section for come on provolone!
Hearing the provolone jokes after finishing up Ravening War really made me crack up. Loved that little easter egg ❤️
Dimension 20 crossover question, but there's no way they had already shot Ravening War when these came out, right? The line "Come on Provolone!" seems like too unique a line to be a coincidental though so now I'm not sure
Come on provolone!
“I’ll tell you this: all the magic in the world, there is nothing more precious than a true friend.”
Fax no printer
Why do you have to make me cry every single episode
Am I the only one that doesn't trust steel? I feel like she definitely betrayed or even killed Suvi's parents
It's a Brennan character. The close friend is ALWAYS suspicious
Cycadas summer. I live in the south. I see them.
Honestly, I would love if Suvi took a lil witch dip
After arc 3...I dunno
Anyone knows what they're doing stats wise for these children and what they're rolling in these eps? I need to know.
I am sooo happy that I am sick today so I can listen to this the whole day!!!
Why are these children the most adorable and caring?!!!!!
POST THE PICTURE COWARDS
Roads are the backbone of civilization Prolly unintentional, but love a Rothfuss reference, no matter how oblique
Lou's called shot? Incredible.
My mouth legitimately dropped open 👀👀😂
i am so incredibly impressed with the quality of the story telling. i know it was going to be brennan gming, and lou, erika and aabria playing, but. Ho. Ly. Cow. This is amazing
When I imagine everyone picking up a 6 to int I see the girls reading / studying together talking through everything they are reading eurselon is just in the room practicing his sword forms listening with an occasional "mmhmm"
Later summer's dark heat shows hidden things bright and hides truths told as secrets
I was raised a city kid and spent time every summer at my grandmother's house out in the country. This episode specifically has me remembering the bold and bright learnings of childhood and how in my teens and into my early 30s I kind of switched up a lot about who I was and now that I'm strolling into my 50s, I am revisiting that brightness and boldness but with the very large difference that I choose my own chores. Thank you for this for so much. haiku to come (I wrote it in my head as I was falling asleep and it flowed into my dreams and hasn't come back out).
A truly fantastic episode! But, I'm a little confused about how the players got their ability scores. What did they start out as? Did they roll dice with advantage? How did they get those fallback numbers?
I WANT the rules to this system! It would be really fun to use at our own tables. I asked in the Fireside Chat. Hopefully I'm not the only one, so there's a better chance that they'll tell us! It sounded like they started with a range from 6-10/12 for their childhood scores, and then when it was time, rolled for a stat, and could either keep that roll or roll again. The unused roll was then saved for a future stat, and would eventually need to be put on somewhere, so at each roll they had the option to either roll or take the holdover number. I wanna know how they got their starting scores, too.
The pauses between “your mother’s….friend” and “your father’s… companion” 👀
Coming here for the dice pic 😅
Is anyone keeping track of their ability stats? I tried to follow along but am not 100% sure. This is what I have so far: Ame (Str 8, Dex 16, Con 15, Int 14, Wis 17, Cha ?), Suvi (Str 10, Dex 17, Con 14, Int 18, Wis 16, Cha 14), Eursulon (Str 15, Dex 16, Con 16, Int 12, Wis 14, Cha 18).
My numbers were a little different. I have Suvi's Int 19 because of Observant, Ame's Str 12 and Wis 18 because of Observant, (Cha I'm absolutely guessing is a 16 because of the transcript, but idk since it's not in the audio). I have the same for Eursulon though.
Absolutely loving this story , reminds me when I was younger
The way that Brennan and the cast (throughout the children’s campaign but particularly in this episode) have committed to— and are successfully iterating on— telling this story from a child’s perspective and in language (from Grandmother Wren) that is so simple yet laden with so much subtext is just… phenomenal. Chef’s kiss. A campaign so informed by one’s childhood experiences is sure to be meaningful and powerful and excellent. Love what you all are doing and can’t wait to see what’s next!!
Sometimes, when my eyes are just skating over the text, I read "Eursulon" as "Eurovision"
Really incredible storytelling here congrats on the work so far! I agree with the comment above, I love the creative take on determining stats, it fits so well with character development starting at a young age - I'm looking forward to seeing how it informs the characters years (our time) from now! On another note, the sound effects have been fantastic. I moved to Osaka last year in the dead of summer and when Brennan described the Cicada season and the chirps started playing in the background, I was hit by a wave of nostalgia and immediately began to sweat 😂.
Hey, I lived there, myself, and my wife's from there. Maidou!
I really love this way to determining stats ❤️ Listening to all the kids adventures before starting with the adult one will put things in perspective in a unique way i think 🌸
I found episode one of the main campaign much more impactful because I'd heard the children's adventure! I'm telling all my friends to become patrons so they get the same experience :)
"I'll try really hard" 💀😭🥲🥹
lmao post the picture of the 69 roll☠️
Suvi is the embodiment of "an easy child is probably not a super-healthy child" and I identify with her anxiety and coping so hard
"There is nothing more precious than a true friend" hits so hard because I don't have any "true friends" and at 32 years old, I don't think I ever will.
There’s no age limit to making friends 💜
Lou rollin HAWT with that 69
Are witches Druids then? With Wisdom being the casting modifier.
they said its a homebrew class so im sure there will be some similarities
Lou's CON stat roll tho!
The stats on these characters are fuccin JUICED
Those ability score rolls!! Jfc!!!
Oh gosh please just so much crying and affection over here.
So, can we all agree that Taylor sounds nice? They keep saying that he sounds nice, so I’m inclined to believe that it must be true.
Polite Tales of Magic
THAT DICE ROLL
Yo, I cannot tell you how fantastic it is to wake up to SEVEN EPISODES! Who knew we could live this deep and this well
This was such a Joy to wake up to and have on in The background while working today. Really excited for The final childrens adventure and episode one, y’all have crushed it with the build-up to the season!
Oh my gosh, we're eating well tonight! What a feast for our ears!
Is there going to be a discord? If so I would looovvveee to chat to the community
There's a fan discord that Aabria and Taylor visit now and then. https://discord.gg/ADPFT3FE
And to think that this is all happening the DAY of my 27th Birthday. This Podcast is going to interweave itself with the story I tell myself about my life inextricably. It'll always have all started on my 27th Birthday. Thank you for this!
Hey, a fellow birthday buddy!! Yeah, it makes it feel somehow even MORE special, doesn’t it?!?! 🫶🥹
Well, here go my LotR-rewatch-plans for this week, and I am not sorry to see them go. This is insane, I don't even know when I will have the time to listen to all of these!!! Can't wait to make it home tonight because patreon does not like me listening on my phone :(
And yes, I would actually consider risking to listen to it during work otherwise, don't tell my boss please...
I need to sleep, people.
Hope it was restful and you got back to the rest. :)
I guessed it would be 2 or 3 episdoes this is awesome!
You guys are Monsters. I have a lot of people depending on me to complete tasks that must be finished this week. And now I'm going to have to blow them all off so that I can listen to this stuff. Lives are literally going to be lost and it's all your fault.
Very excited to listen to it all.
@booksherpa thanks for that!
I think they were saying on the Instagram Live that there are 8 episodes of The Children's Adventure, but that number 8 and the first episode of the main feed would take a little longer to drop.
yeah i dont see 8 yet either
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I only have 7 new episodes, where are y’all seeing 8?
THIS JUST MADE MY DAY
IT ALL DROPPED???
was this a scheduling error?
But how do I listen to all of 8 them before bedtime
