Absolutely fantastic!!! I love the style and how intentional the use of color is!! Gosh I love this story so much!

Every time I think of the man in black I think of The Dark Tower series by Stephen King which is my favorite book series of all time. I love love love this character and the animation. In the last fireside Brennan was talking about how the scariest spirit of them all is just a man and I think the simplicity of the character is what makes him so ominous that plus the resonance of his voice and foot steps. The artist captured that perfectly.

The details really capture the tone. The expressions. Suvi's glare out the window. The hair raise of the neck perfectly timed to the voice hitting. The shadow work, to the monsterous smile. Absolutely and completely nailed it. Brava brava bellissima 👏👏👏

There is one obvious way to improve this. Make more! Seriously though, as everyone says this is amazing.

There is something about the Man in Black saying he has held his breath since the dawn of time that has me wondering if he is a Great Spirit that is, in a way, a reflection of humanity. As far as I know, or assume, humanity began tracking time in Umora like we began tracking time in our real world. So is it the dawn of the world, or the beginning of *time* that this spirit is referring to? Nevermind the fact that the Man in Black is, at this point in time, focused on conquest of the mortal world (as hinted throughout the series, but mainly by Mirara saying he wants to bring the mortal world to his heel) 3am pre-work ramblings.

Great pick for an animatic, this was one of the early moments in the story when we really got slammed over the head with the aura of "BIG THINGS ARE HAPPENING" and teased at how incredible this story was (is) going to be.
