In this, the final chapter of the first book of our tale: It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life, for our wizard, our witch, and our wild one. Far above the mist-cloaked scree of the Shroud Mountains, the Meridian flies to a daring rescue, captained by a promising, but increasingly rebellious, young wizard. Back in Toma, the Witch of the World's Heart takes care of old business and new friends. The wild one runs. As fast as he can. Don't even try to catch him. That ship has sailed.

Can I just say, the faintly muted horns in the military fort reminded of the music that plays in The Good The Bad and The Ugly when the characters are in a very run down fort with tired soldiers, and that seems very fitting
That moment of quiet horror when you realize Brennan has basically introduced the Fantasy Appalachian Mountains as a setting
"He wants you to know what he's going to take from you" is a great line
Just wanna say: Rasper was 100% in the right to commandeer The Meridian and make sure the music box made it back to the citadel safely. And Aabria was 200% in the right to put the music box in danger and sail after Silver. I love this show, and I can't wait to hear Suvi tear Rasper apart.

Can we talk about suvi’s last 60 hours the first 48 is witch con where death and trickery was around the corner every step of the way BUT successfully did a mission she didn’t know was a mission until the very end leaves witch con UNSCATHED (well not emotionally) gets on the her ship finally sleeps but not before putting rasper in his place and giving him the box so he can stfu🤦🏾♂️wakes up finds out the citadel is going on the offensive essentially tells them hey i got what you need and you want me alive so I’m going too Abassin so send help. lands in Fort Marlawn to get some supplies as soon as she’s about to make a plan rasper takes the ship and ALL the engineers from the fort leaves a note saying the ship will be back in 48hrs and if you need help before that call your mom you nepo baby then gets the bare minimum of people and leaves for Abassin and now rolls initiative
Which she realizes by watching Sworn and specifically deciding to learn from him.

It’s the fact that suvi survived the trickery of the coven of witches unscathed then not even a full 12hrs later is tricked by the empire and especially told if you need help Nepo baby call your mom other then that the ship will be back in 48hrs I’m so glad for that nat 20

I thought she gave the box to Rasper at the end of Arc 3? She didn't hand it over immediately because Rasper was being insubordinate but gave it to him after they had effectively taken off and gotten out of Indri's reach

Still *just* starting and already suspicious of Yulia in a way some others were earlier. This is a teenaged apprentice. She may be the apprentice to the Apprentice Archmage, but Suvi's Archmage is Silence. He's maybe not in the thick of military command--and there are a lot of layers between Yulia and him. This "hot" war has sprung up within the last week. How the hell does Yulia know they're preparing to invade Gaothmai, or where the northern battle lines are on the map?
