I'm just catching up after being months behind (CUE ERIKA'S WIDE-EYED LAUGHTER, EVERYTHING IS NOT FINE). I'm gonna miss the trio. And the Fox. But all three. But also the Fox. 💔

Honestly? This is better knews than I thought we'd be getting! I could definitely see WWW wrapping up indefinitely in this arc, as many things draw to their conclusions. The idea that we'll get to come back is very exciting. And in the meantime, I'm SO excited for a new set of characters and for AABRIA to dm! Brennen is a fantastic dm, certainly, but Aabria brings a special magic to the table that I adore. The way she turns character moments is absolutely masterful, and I can't wait to see what she brings to this new campaign. In SPACE no less!!

This makes me sad - I was really settling in for a longer-form campaign with these characters. Also change is hard. But at the same time, I'm glad they are taking a break - sometimes it's good to know when to press pause, do some different, and come back fresh. I hope the hiatus isn't too long, but I'm really looking forward to Aabriya DMing, and in SPACE no less. SPAAAAACE!

Are there any specific plans about when WWW might return? I imagine we’re looking at a number of years here, but I can’t parse if it’s more in the 2 year range or the 6+ range. Or is it indefinite for the time being, to be pinned down once the future roadmap of WBN is a bit more clear as a whole?

to be clear everyone: 2 worlds so far. not quite beyond number but i do have faith we’ll get there but fr, JUSTICE FOR PC BRENNAN!!! 🗣️ let new dad Brennan take a nap, guys. guys? can he take a nap please? let this man take a lil DM snooze! i’ve read through the comments and most of y’all are expressing similar bittersweet feelings to my own. i’m a horribly impatient person, but the promise that there will be a return to our trio in Umora is more than enough to sustain me. plus, i’ve listened to many of these episodes MANY times, and still manage to find new connections to story beats and parallels and theories to spiral into. i know i can always re-listen during the hiatus and feel the same sort of comforting coming home hug that is WWW. also, you can mark my words now: i think this Umora adventure is going to be a trilogy, so we’ll be coming back to it two more times for a similar (if not longer) duration. if you think of it like the time between book releases, this longer hiatus makes a lot more sense. for those of y’all who are having bigger feelings — totally valid. but i am disappointed to see a couple comments showing a lack of trust in a non-Brennan DM because, respectfully, you’re ON one. Aabria’s DMing is absolutely electric. in one second she’s setting a scene so vividly that you maybe forget to breathe, and in the next she’s clocking seemingly small character choices to reward or weave into the story later… she yes-ands in a way i’ve never seen from another DM and it always feels seamless and gratifying (and sometimes absolutely hilarious depending on the context). her DMing is on par with Brennan’s. call me a patriot baby cuz i’ll die on that hill 🫡🇺🇸 and then, in the meantime… spaaaAAAACE?? 🚀✨🪐💥 i’ll echo the others and mention how cool it would be to see another story in the Starstruck universe, but i know it’s going to be so sick regardless. and the MUSIC 😤 yo, Taylor, i don’t know the tone of this new campaign, but if there’s an opportunity to make a bop that captures the feeling of the intro to Dan Da Dan (PLEASE YouTube it if you haven’t seen it)… i don’t know how to describe it, but i feel like Taylor’s talent plus a funky retro-future J-rap vibe??? yo 🫨

Honestly? I was starting to wonder if you guys would only start a new campaign with a different DM when WWW would end someday, which could obviously take YEARS... I'm glad that's not the case. I'll be dying of suspense in our time away from Umora, I'm sure, but I am also beyond hyped for another campaign and happy to see that you all are changing things up to suit you, letting Brennan be a PC and so on. I predict we'll see the homebrew paladin subclass for Eursalon at the end of Arc 4 of WWW, and that we'll probably see someone outside WBN use one of the homebrew classes in a streamed game (D20 or CR sidequests come to mind) before we eventually have our return to Umora.

The Penumbra Podcast did (what I assume is going to be) something similar with their two main stories 'Juno Steel' and 'The Second Citadel', which were also set in very different worlds/genres. While I'm always happy to hear the four of you together I am also a little hopeful that having more worlds is going to open up possible guest spots because I would die to get Danielle Radford in for at least a couple of episodes (the chemistry in mismag is just so unreal).

Worlds Beyond One? Surely not. To be real, though, it feels like a good call to split the long campaign into discrete adventures, and do other bits in between. That's home game vibes, baby.

Ah ngl, my heart dropped. I am sad. The way it was said time and time again this is a long format campaign, I though we're going to have years (as in multiple, definitely more than 2) with these characters and this world. I kinda thought it's going to continue until the characters are level 20. Too soon to feel excited for a new campaign. But I am sure that'll come to me, as the premise sounds fun and I love Aabria's dming.

WOOF. I'm not going to lie, I'm more than a little heartbroken to step away from these characters at such an apex. It feels like yall hit the ground running, but the length and attention to detail in the episodes truly did feel as though it'd continue to go for quite some time. That said, past my initial shock and grief for saying a (temporary) goodbye to these beloved characters, I'm excited for what's in store! Space has never been my jam as a setting, but if anyone could make me eat my words, it's these four with the singularly brilliant Aabria at the helm.

All stories must end this is a fact and should be a hard rule. How dare it include wizard witch and wild one. All seriousness I have not loved a programe as much as worlds beyond number. I love dimension 20 and critical role but something about the intimacy and care drags me by the hand through such magical and emotional adventures I cannot wait to see more GIMMIE

HELL YEAH I'M SO EXCITED

… This is my first attempt At a eHarmony video I'm nervous, but I'm excited at the same time So I'm just gonna start talking about what I like... ... I love WWW. (Can't Hug Every Cat reference) But I am, nervous and excited. If there was a PC death(s) or some in game reason to take a break, I'm sure that will become clear. I am nervous there is tension in the group, but I often read into group body language I can't know the source of as bad vibes between folks. There are so many reasons to take step away, and being realistic this crew can't juggle multiple campaigns ATST, so if they are going to do other things then after a couple years is likely the best time. At, what I assume, will be a decent narrative beat to step away from. But having rode this ride, I can only see the story moving so far along the greater timeline and arc, so... My pile of curiosities, my thirst for this spiritual worldbuilding, are howling in dismay and anxiety that things will not return. But I can quell them! I love this crew, I'd rather they put down the whole project than overburden any part or burn any bridges. And, I trust you will make the best choices they can within that. So, POWER TO YOU ALL. You know change is hard, and we're all going to worry. But, do your best to know folks out here by the fireside will be fine, even if we howl a little bit. As a treat.

Erika laughing at camera into the smash cut is my mood forever 💙 Suspect others have said much the same somewhere above, but here I go: these exact people, as players and GMs, have straight up YEARS of history and experience maintaining many imaginative and performance tracks at the same time, and of returning to worlds, stories and characters that were massively enriched by time away. I'd be sad if Arc 4 were the end of WWW, and I'm SO glad it's not, but I'm glad that they're going somewhere else for a while if they see fit. AFAIAC there are no, zero, zip signs of exhaustion or burnout in WWW so far, but pushing forward too many arcs in a row will eventually incur some risk, and I trust this team implicitly (and now explicitly, I guess) to know when to open a different book. Can't wait!!!

I am sad to hear that Arc 4 will be the last chapter of WW&WO but I love space and cannot wait for a campaign DMed by Aabria in it. I do still hope to see our beloved trio again at some point in the future perhaps in some kind of interlude one shot.

I'm excited because they're excited! Just like I'm excited when a band makes a new album, even if it's not exactly what I imagined part of being a fan is wanting the artists to keep feeling happy and inspired. Plus, space!!!

Not sure I'm a fan of this decision. You've always talked about this being a campaign you would play for years and years, and yet you're "ending" it after only just hitting level 4? I get that this probably has something to do with Brennan still being a new parent and all but the wording in this announcement video is deeply disheartening. I will probably be cancelling my subscription after Arc 4 if we don't get clarification about the nature of this break and the return to Umora.

Man, I'm trying to be excited as I'm sure I'll like the next campaign plenty, but truth is I'm just straight-up bummed. This story has been a special kind of alchemy I've never seen/heard elsewhere, and the commitment to it being a truly long haul has been part of that. I'll really miss it!

ngl, I'm so so bummed. Sci Fi doesn't really do it for me, but I'll give it a go because you all make so much magic together. I'm devastated to leave our wizard, witch and wild one. I hope it won't be too long til we see them again. But obviously, y'all gotta do what is most creatively and energetically appealing in the moment.

I absolutely cannot fault this decision because I trust this group to return if they say they're going to return, and also, as a frequent GM myself, you ABSOLUTELY need to let your GMs have down-time to recharge their creative batteries. It's one of the most rewarding roles in the world but it's also EXHAUSTING. Long-form campaigns are wonderful, but if you don't pace yourself, you CAN and WILL burn out. Rest is PART of the creative cycle. I'm so glad this is a group that recognizes that.

As a long-time Friends At The Table fan, taking a break from fantasy to go to space is *extremely* exciting

aaaaah so many mixed feelings! i am so sad that Arc 4 will be the last chapter of WW&WO!!! i love this story so much cause it showed me what is possible in D&D and inspired me to make my own stories and experience play and games differently. but i am STOOOOKED AF for a space adventure and all the other worlds that will be explored in the future.

Brennan's laugh about being a PC...God, it makes me think of Abraham Mehermblur.

I think this ultimately is reflective of D&D (and perhaps all tabletop RPGs) as a longform storytelling medium. Improv can only work in short (or medium) bursts, and it can't cohere over an epic scale. I know people have home-games that have run forever, but how narratively cohesive are they? There's no writer's room to figure out longterm plans, just one person, and even fully scripted shows can't consistently get 3 good seasons in a row with monetary support and full crews. Not to mention burnout or whatever else. I appreciate the crew spinning this as an intentional direction but I actually think plowing ahead with WWW was probably creatively impossible

I ... don't know how to feel about this. I love Aabria, I'm sure the space campaign will be great. But one of the most exciting promises about WBN was that it was going to be a massive campaign, we were going to see years of these characters grow from level 1 babbies to level 12+ veterans. We were going to see their choices literally shape the world in the way you'd always imagined your 20 year long homegame which never lasted longer than 4 sessions might. To end it (or take an "extended break" I guess) at chapter 4 with level 4, maybe 5 if we're lucky, seems like ... not a broken promise exactly, but a bit of a letdown We were obviously promised that WBN would indeed encompass plenty of Worlds, and if it's a matter of Brennan wanting to PC and Aabria wanting to DM for a while, that's cool! I just kind of hope we don't move into Dimension20 (which I love!)! territory of swapping settings and campaigns often, because we have Dimension 20 for that!

Space? Oooooh so many cool options other than 5e. Starfinder is only just now getting a 2e so probably not that. Lancer is amazing but not sure how the tactical combat would translate to a podcast. There are a bunch of space and mecha games wrapped around the FitD or PBA chassis (Orbital Blues, Scum & Villainy, Beam Sabre) so they are a possibility. The Kids on Bikes variant, Teens in Space is probably the most likely as Abria has run that system before with Misfits & Magic though what would be the most, most, MOST awesome would be... MOTHERSHIP! I would love to see players & storytellers as good as this tackle a system where character death is *very* much on the table.
