I’m convinced Marara is a lil’ witch in a big costume. Acting tough for the sake of her station, but essentially the opposite of Wren. Much nicer and more approachable than she seems.

Until I saw this image I realize I had fully imagined Mirara as The Junkmother from Starstruck this whole time 🤣

1) The colouration of the insignia and accents is shown to be refelcting light. That's great pallet choice. 2) The spines around the mask and on her back / shoulders could legitimately be part of her form or outfit. 3) Her familiar practically set the colours and shows her to be interacting gently with the world. 4) The implied story here is a creature from the Shadowfell or outter planes that doesn't fully understand human forms, or have a complete need for one, yet is gentle enough to have become the trusted and feared source of council on matters of fear, hope, dignity and secrets. I adore the use of rigid lines and angles here. It gives such a cool sense of unnerving artifice where your eye is like "living things aren't supposed to look like that". Trying to fight Marara would be like fighting a spooky billboard.
