Three-Point Perspective
he's very threatenable

Honestly... she's not wrong. It might be awful, but he might find something very satisfying to pursue up there
I really want to be inside of that hoodie with Bubbles 🥺
Faye usually occupies that space. Are you sure you want to tell her to scooch over?
There is a lot of assumption that living a chill life "not BEING GRATE or GOOSING TEH CAPITALIST DREAM" is inherently bad. To be, to be non-detrimental, to enhance your community: that is a very good life. Anything** else is luck and/or propaganda. ** considered "better". Less is still a good life, but perhaps mental illness? Circumstance? Other terrible sh*t? To strive to be better is noble, to persist is still an endeavor. Even the 'broken' are a benefit to us all, and we will all be better for doing what we can.
The Englibbrarian
BUBBLES: THE ENGLIBBENATION
Still less sketchy than the fappening.
Random thought: should he still be called "Pintsize"? Now that he has a human sized chassis that name doesn't really seem appropriate anymore.
Now Pintsize refers to his good taste and moral sense...
Faye and Pintsize both don't seem to grant Marten any agency in this matter. Maybe they should stop handwringing about it and trust him. I think Bubbles's statement may be closer to the truth, and that (facetious as it may sound) Faye's paraphrase may be true as well. Though I'm also impatient with the idea that there's some kind of absolute value to "getting pushed out of your comfort zone". I also have to wonder whether there's a certain amount of jealousy (or at least projection) here from characters like Faye who are having to struggle...
Claire realizes that Cubetown needs library assistants, tech crews, structure enforcement, and a coffee shop, and then the entire cast moves there. Done.
And a bakery, don't forget the bakery.
Englibben is the focus word Ms. Marvel uses to become more convincing and sharpen her repartee
I think we may miss that Cubetown may be a good place for Marten. If our initial glimpses of it are any indication, Cubetown's dysfunction is not entirely a result of disorganization. It may actually be a collection of genius lacking a means of meaningful support. Just like Elizabeth gravitated to Marten, so too would others. Marten's history demonstrates that he is exceptional (maybe unintentionally) of building communities. Claire may build a structure, but Marten can build community just by being himself. I actually don't see him as being uncomfortable there, because he'll be doing the same thing he's always done naturally.
That hadn't occurred to me, but you could be right.
How long has Jeph been waiting for the perfect moment to deploy "englibben"?
Eighteen-and-something years, I'm sure.
I feel like Bubbs offering Marten a gentle, sincere assessment (as pictured above) is going to be roughly equivalent to a full-on Naval warship broadside. He has no armor rating for ordnance of this grade or classification.
Bubbles can threaten me anytime! Or Faye. You know, whichever is available.
But you'd enjoy it, so it wouldn't be any fun to watch.
Faye now has to disenglibbenize her englibbenization Bubble's nonenglibbened, uh, where was I?
bilge glib
Totally going to find a way to use 'englibben' in everyday conversation
I will englibben my meatloaf with a dash of ketchup!
I love everybody here, but idk how I feel about their concerns here. What's the big worry? Marten has a loving relationship, a wonderful support system, a steady and reliable job with which he can support himself - what's so wrong with that? I've kind of reached a settled, comfortable point in my life too. I mean, granted, I just bought my first house last year, but I feel like I'm good to coast for a while, you know? I don't need to be climbing for anything, I'm set. I often find myself reciting Faye's line from a long time ago "is contentment the same thing as complacency", but I'm like, meh, so what if it is. I'm doing great. I guess the concern is that by moving, Marten would lose the support system and the job. But I think he'd get another. Doing.. something on cubetown. And he and Claire are good at communication so if she was unhappy with him, she'd definitely tell him. I'm not worried. He'll be alright.
I agree. While we have no idea what happened during the timeskip, Marten seems to be in a pretty good place, and (after MUCH archive trawling), is still currently employed at the library, so would 1) have at least one reference and 2) have transferrable skills and experience. This may or may not end up being Claire's time to shine, but that would not really dim Marten's story by any means.
They're utterly demolishing boundaries of the English language here and it's wonderful. Wordsmithery at its finest. 🤘
Or wordsmifery in this town.
englibben is my new favourite word. but also I love Bubs for pointing out that this might be a good thing for Marty
Englibben is a perfectly cromulent word.
You know, why is everyone so concerned with Marten not being comfortable? No one seems to be telling Hanners to go get a real job and make a difference in the world, or telling Tai to stop cruising through so stoned she leaves her job to her underlings. Claire's looking at a really stressful job that would undoubtedly extend way past 40 hours a week. Would it really be so terrible for Marten to be her house-spouse? (With or without the rings, yes.)
Hanners has made massive strides in dealing with her OCD, and Tai graduated college and got engaged. I don't think either of them are in a position where they'll look back in 20 years and feel like they wasted their twenties.
It's possible that Cubetown has some sort of "lifestyle intertial dampeners" that will return Marten to his comfort zone. However, knowing Cubetown, they will literally dampen him, which will take him out of his comfort zone again.
Bubbles already threatened Marten when they first met!

Why do I all of a sudden want to be threatened by Bubbles. This is not where I thought my life would go
It's the thought of her in spiked heels that does it, Hawkeye.
I am adding "englibbenation" and its various permutations to my lexicon
Bubbles makes a good point. Marten has progressed from the new guy/outsider at the beginning of the strip, to practically being a townie. A change of scenery would force him to reinvent himself. He'll have an polestar, in the person of Claire, who has gently pushed him to take actions, will provide him to better himself.
I'm expecting marten to open coffee of doom 2.0 over there, given the lack of coffee options in cube town. ...or I was, until someone downthread pointed out Claire's gonna be so busy she could probably use a house-spouse. :) ... He could always open the coffee shop *after* she's put out the really big fires?
Really, Bubbles is making a stronger statement than Faye's paraphrase. She's saying that Marten might be better off making this move than staying in Noho.
It's a fair point (although Cubetown sure is... a place as far as new starts go)
"in the long run, we are all dead" said Keynes.
Somewhere in eternity, Keynes is cursing himself for ever saying that because it's been so misused for so many years.
Ah, "englibben" - a perfectly cromulent word.
To perspect differently englibbens the comfortablest Marten.
"—with a good time!"
I mean, yeah, it would TOTALLY work.
I don't know about that. Marten is the guy who beat the crap out of a Shaolin monk when he got pissed.
Faye will definitely englibben you later Bubbles.... count on it!!
As if Claire wouldn't threaten him first...
That’s the Pintsize we know.
