I discovered house centipedes when I moved to Montreal. As mention before, they’re harmless to people (and actually kinda cool), but they’re terrifying and goddamn can they grow HUGE.

Before I read the comments, I assumed that 'house centipedes' were something Jeph made up for this strip.

I didn't think that we had house centipedes in Australia, but apparently we do. In place of one, I recently acquired a little huntsman spider, who is currently chilling out on the ceiling of my bathroom.

And now I'm wondering if any are shaped like cats. Seriously, it'd be hard to resist trying out, wouldn't it?

House centipedes and I have a very special relationship. I don't see them and they can continue to do what they want to do without being murdered by me if I see them. I'm much more accommodating with spiders... I warn spiders to not let my *roommate* see them, because she has a similar arrangement with them.

House centipedes were the first time in my life I actually wondered if all those alien invasion stories were possible. I'd never seen or heard of them before I found one in my bathroom. After I had finished panic killing it (too many sci-fi movies about parasites and it trying to run into the dark area in my shadow, i.e. running at me) I looked it up online and found that they are harmless to humans and actually helpful insects, though if you see them it generally means you have an infestation of something else...
