Probably a symbol for aromantic person (who seems to still enjoy social relations and maybe casual sex).
Panel 4 is my favourite! A.I.s bein' sassy is what drew me to this comic in 2005.

Agreed! We know they like coffee, the short one appreciates cosplay (and dance belts), and the tall one doesn't like men. New character arcs!

Oof, panel 4 AI hitting us right where it hurts: in the existential void.
Honestly it made me start to wonder more about the life cycle of the androids that I hadn't considered before. Do they eventually die? Are more being created? Are there rules around how many can be 'born' in a year? What about just issues with the number of them in existence? They require power and shelter and take up space. How are these issues being dealt with?
