I do NOT like the concept of "Good cop / bad cop", in that I find it a trite and overused cliche. What works for me? "Bad cop / WORSE cop."

I still think her instincts are right and this guy hides some dark secret... ... which would be uncovered by Beeps purely by accident. Nelson will call the backup and save the day, naturally.
GC/BC only works if both Cs know the playbook. Having to reassure your partner that you don't actually plan on putting your fingers in the guy's ears and touching them in the middle kind of ruins the gig.
